Anti-Trans Bills Across the United States

According to CNN, anti-trans bills have skyrocketed from 2020 to 2021. In 2020 there were 66 anti-trans bills sent to congress, and in 2021 the number jumped to 117. Currently the state of Arkansas, is the only state where a bill became law regarding a ban on healthcare treatment for transgender youth called “The Arkansas Save Adolescents From Experimentation Act.” (SAFE)

If you live in Alabama and you have a trans child age 19 or younger and they're receiving hormone therapy, get THE FUCK out now.

The state of Alabama has just made it a felony to give trans children ages 19 or younger hormone therapy or affirmation surgery.

Linked is a Change.org petition (so please, only sign & do NOT donate!) against the Alabama almost-law that no only makes it a felony to provide gender/trans-related care to anyone under the age of 19, but also legally mandates that schools, therapists, etc. out ALL trans/gender-questioning kids to their parents, no matter what.

Transgender in Bangladesh: First school opens for trans students

More than 150 students will learn free of charge in Dhaka, in a landmark initiative.

More than 150 students will study Islamic and vocational subjects free of charge at the privately-funded seminary, or madrassa, in the capital.

Many in the transgender community identify as a third gender which is now officially recognised in the country.

They have the right to vote and to stand for election, but conservative social attitudes still make it hard for them to access jobs and education.

Some migrate to cities and support themselves by singing and dancing at weddings and births, by begging or through sex work.

Until now there has been no school exclusively for transgender people in Bangladesh.

People of any age in the hijra community can enrol at the school. It is hoped that after studying there, students will have a chance to enter a number of different professions.

One new student at the school, Shilpy, said most of the trans community were illiterate.

“No one wants to hire us. If we had some education, we could have worked somewhere better. There is no education system.

"That is why we still do what our ancestors did and earn money by dancing and singing,” Shilpy, whose name means “artist” in Bengali, told the BBC.

This is big step forward for Bangladesh and the trans community. It’s so unfair that they are denied access to education and employment opportunities.

North Carolina: Youth health Protection Act

New bill is threatening trans rights in North Carolina, called “The Youth Health Protection Act.” It would allow for doctors and healthcare providers to be persecuted for providing medication/therapy to trans youth, and deny any form healthcare coverage for trans youth who want to use puberty blockers/delays or hormone treatments. Please call North Carolina government office to let them know how this bill needs to be opposed.

Florida's new ban on transgender students in sports would allow schools to subject minors to genital inspections

The legislation has passed the state’s House of Representatives.
