Gwayne's refusal to show fear of Tessarion. The way he puts himself between Daeron and his death and steps forward and forward towards him and his dragon. Gwayne's full and final acceptance of Daeron as a Targaryen. I will not be scared by your dragon, because I know that dragon is you. And I could never reproach my boy, my boy that I love.

The blocking for Daeron’s knighting scene was soooo evil. Ormund makes pointed eye contact with Gwayne when he tells Daeron to kneel and there’s an immediate shot of a sword hanging over Daeron’s head

Ormund’s sword then goes directly through the giant target on Gwayne’s chest (that also happens to be the family crest) and into Daeron’s neck, it visibly hurts Gwayne and Ormund does it again

then Ormund again looks back at Gwayne and proudly puts his hand directly over what should be Daeron’s heart but moves high enough that Daeron looks worried he’s going to choke him

So much abusive father material packed in here. The implication of prior physical violence towards Daeron, the way they clearly all expect Ormund to hit him now, the way Ormund clearly does this both to keep Daeron in check and as a proxy to hurt Gwayne because Gwayne may have to obey him as head of the household but he is physically stronger than Ormund. But also Ormund loves that boy no matter how much no one wants him to and Daeron still craves his approval even as he’s repulsed by it. We needed a Succession type miniseries with these three
