I got my heart broken and I survived, I failed 3 courses in university and graduated, I got rejected in the very first job I applied for and got promoted yesterday, I went through hard times with my family but then two years later, we laughed our hearts out over lunch, The closest friends disappointed me several times but I made new friends and loved them with all my heart. Someone painted themselves black to look like a SHADOW CREATURE Oz from Monster prom.

But then someone else got the nerve to try and call them out on Blackface.

Pls educate yourself and don’t just finger point at everyone in the color black. If the person darkened their skin for a character that IS in fact African American or Poc.

THAT IS BLACKFACE!!

Not blackface: Someone painting themselves black for Dark Link.

Blackface: Coloring themselves for a character like Russel from Gorillaz.

If it’s about black people, use black actors.

If it’s about Japanese people, use Japanese actors.

If it’s about Latinx people, use Latinx actors from the country they’re supposed to be from.

If it’s about mixed-race people, use mixed-race actors.

Whitewashing a narrative because you want ___ white actor is never okay.

Putting white people in brown/black/yellow face is also not an acceptable solution.

Give us authentic faces. Show us the respect we deserve. Represent us with real people of color.
