Card Reading: Messages from Hermes
Disclaimer: I am not claiming to be a mouthpiece of the gods or claiming to have a special connection to Hermes. I do worship Hermes and made offerings to him for these readings. As always, use your intuition and discernment.
This pick a pile reading is all about messages from Hermes! Please, please, please reach out with how your choice resonated or didn't resonate with you! Always looking to improve. I also offer personal readings with all proceeds right now going to a friend in a tough spot. Anyway, let's get into it. Take a few deep breaths, say a prayer to Hermes, and pick a deck:
Group One - Thoth Tarot Deck
What is Group One Struggling With?
Starting off strong with the Ace of Cups paired with Worry and Victory. I see this as you are struggling to reach out to Hermes and nurture the connection as you are worried about if he’s actually there/if he’ll accept you (he is and he will!). In some ways, you are worried about if he’s not there, but also if he is there. If you are someone who is more established in your worship, this may be an offer of godspousal that you’ve been ignoring and may want to look further into (Lovers kept popping out + was shadow). (Important: you will know if this part applies to you because it is not the first time it has come up. If this is the first time you’re hearing about godspousal, this does not apply to you.).
What can Group One do to improve that?
Failure, Success, and the Moon paired together; could not be a stronger indication to realize that your worries of failure/success lie within you. Hermes is there and ready to commit to the path, just waiting on you! Do the introspective work to figure out where this fear lies and what is holding you back.
What is Group One doing well?
Completion, Strength, and Gain. It sounds like you’re already in the process of finding your flow in this practice. You may have recently set up a space for him/added to or changed your space, which was a big step. You’ve been making offerings and saying prayers, though perhaps not as frequently as you’d like. Keep up the good work!
What are Group One’s next steps with Hermes?
Luxury, the Lovers, and the Queen of Cups - it’s time to accept his love! Realize that you are worthy and capable of receiving Divine love and commit to the path. You have to let him into your life to fully reap the benefits and sweetness of the Divine. Gotta let go and go with the flow.
The Hermit, Lust, Chariot, and Hanged Man. Take some time alone and do some deep introspection to figure out what it is you need from this relationship with Hermes. The Chariot is my personal card for Hermes, so I feel that it was just popping out to say “I approve!”
One, five, and three (equaling 9) coming out all together on the 9 of Pentacles is powerful. They’re telling you to make changes within yourself and start looking on the brightside/acknowledging Hermes in your day to day life, even just small things, like thanking him for a safe car ride. The four on the Moon reaffirms that you need to do the inner workings to become fully stable in your path. The six being caught between the Moon and Six of Wands tells you to calm your worries, you’ll be alright!
Group Two - Wanderer’s Tarot Deck
What is Group Two struggling with?
You’re not new new to worshipping Hermes, but you may still be relatively early on in your path. You’re still learning to listen and understand messages when they come through, and perhaps struggling to be consistent with prayers and offerings. Further, you may have learned some misinformation earlier in your worship (Fool + Five of Swords) that needs to be dispelled.
What can Group Two do to work through that?
You may have some lurking shame/doubt that is inhibiting you from fully receiving messages from the Divine that you have to clear away. These inner beliefs may be coming from a mother figure. Further, you haven’t yet realized your full potential as a practitioner. You may be interested in the more mystical side of Hermes. Either way, you have some changes to make/work to do (Seven of Pentacles). This work may be in the unlearning of falsehoods or deeper inner work. Manifestation may be part of your practice (Magician + Wheel of Fortune + Affirmation cards related to manifestation). If so, remember to accept some unaccepted aspects to your manifestation, but also believe in your ability to create your reality.
What does Group Two do well?
You’re a pretty introspective person fully capable of making the necessary changes to further your path. You have a strong sense of community and good connections with people you can talk with about deeper issues. Moreover, you know when to walk away and are able to let things go.
What are Group Two’s next steps?
With the King of Swords, I’d say it’s time to take up some academic work. Learn more about Hermes and Hellenism as a whole. Discuss the nature and philosophy of the gods with others. King of Wands shows bravery and courage and is ready to charge forward, symbolizing that you are again, totally capable and ready to make the needed changes. The Five of Cups here symbolizes your need to leave behind old thought patterns and behaviors that are limiting your growth. Paired with the Eight of Swords - whose symbolism is powerful in this deck; her hands are bound yet she is tied to a sword. She could at any time cut herself free - it is reaffirmed that you need to do the inner work of changing thought patterns and habits. Nine of Cups was the shadow card here; do the work and you’ll be satisfied and happy!
The affirmation cards of Manifestation, Patience, and Follow Your Heart lead me to think manifestation is part of your life. If so, remember everything is in Divine timing and to not give up just because something hasn’t come through yet!
Group Three - Loko Tarot Game Deck
What is Group Three struggling with?
With Death and the Five of Water, you may be overcoming a loss, be it material, spiritual, or a person. Moreover, some of you are recovering from a perceived “failure” with Hermes, i.e. an unanswered prayer, manifestation fell through, or you otherwise didn’t get exactly what you wanted. With the Seven of Fire and Ten of Fire, I’m seeing there’s something blocking you from fully receiving/from doing the work required of you. With the Sun at the end, it shows everything regarding your situation will be okay with a reminder that Hermes knows best - we don’t always get what we want, and that is often a good thing.
What can Group Three do to improve?
The Nine of Water and Four of Earth indicates to me there is a need for gratitude about what you have and truly appreciate the stability already present in your life. The Four of Earth tells you to look inward and practice mindfulness. With the Seven of Air paired with the Emperor, I feel you may have developed a distrust of Hermes, maybe even said some things you didn’t mean. He forgives you, but you have to work on forgiving him.
What does Group Three do well?
The Seven of Earth shows that you’re a hard worker and your worship is well researched. The Six of Earth and Six of Fire tell me you do well with making offerings and saying prayers/showing respect to Hermes. The Courier of Water tells me you’re a dreamer who’s not afraid to ask for what they want. You’re also intuitive and capable of discerning magical from the mundane.
What are Group Three’s next steps?
You gotta lock in and start again. With the Nine of Earth and the Courier of Earth, I’d say if you remain studious and do the work required of you, success is likely. With the Five of Earth and Ace of Cups, next steps involve overcoming this perceived loss/failure and moving forward with the Eight of Fire.
This reading had plenty of 1’s with the d4 showing 111, d12 showing 11, d10 showing a 1, and the d6 off mat also showing 1. It’s time to start again; go back to the basics of your worship and work so you can get back on track. The seven here by the Eight of Fire suggests a need for planning; make a plan/routine for how you’ll get back in the flow of things. 18 with the Emperor and Sun tells you to have self-respect and worth and to set boundaries within yourself; if this is about a failed prayer, ensure that what you’re asking for is truly in your best interest or if it is more like self sabotage. 20 on the Courier of Water tells you to seek balance in your relationship with Hermes and start mending any heartaches about it.
Group Four - Sacred Traveler Oracle
What is Group Four struggling with?
You’re on some sort of journey with Hermes or are asking Hermes for guidance on your journey. This can be school, work related, or a more personal journey. You need to upkeep the forward momentum, yet also stop and notice the little joys that are on your journey. Be sure you’re cleansing yourself/your space and foing regular check-ins to ensure your well-being.
What can Group Four do to Improve?
You got the breakthrough card! Keep up the hard work and it will pay off. With Grace and Gratitude, remember to stop and give thanks to Hermes all along your journey. Solitude here paired with Uncovering Treasures indicates a need to carve out some alone time and look deeper. Figure out what makes you unique and how you can use that on your journey. Ascending the Mountain popped out here, reaffirming that you need to just keep pressing forward.
What does Group Four do well?
You’re a pretty spiritual person and a dreamer, yet you remain grounded in reality. With Choosing Your Path and Finding Sanctuary, I see you’re willing to go after what you want, but also just as willing to follow whatever journey your spirit calls you on. You’re all about getting to the heart of the matter and learning what the truth is.
What should Group Four’s next steps be?
Rejuvanting Rain indicates a need for cleansing and resetting. Hone in on yourself and reset your space. Gates of Triumph shows success on your chosen path, and Takking Shelter pushes you to look inward. In the Flow and Surrender to the Journey affirms that everything is working out jist as it needs to, release control and enjoy the ride!

We’re All Mad Here tells you to rediscover your gifts to share them with others. Keeping Up indicates you may be feeling pressure to keep up the pace on your journey, and while you do need to keep moving forward, don’t feel like you need to be doing something 24/7. Let yourself rest!
Group Five - Hermes Wedgewood Playing Cards

What is Group Five struggling with?
You may be a young person or otherwise someone who is just starting out with Hermes. It looks like you’re struggling to get started/keeping up motivation to worship Hermes due to some mental instability/depression. You’re struggling to change your mindset about Hermes and yourself.
What can Group Five do to improve?
It will be hard work, but you can overcome this. This was a very heart-heavy spread, indicating that you are surrounded by love. The Jack of Hearts came out, symbolizing a partner or friend who is supportive of you. Both the King and Queen of Hearts came out together, perhaps symbolizing parents (or otherwise parental figures - can be spiritual parents as well) who are supportive and loving. You may have a hard time seeing the love that’s all around you, but it’s there! You need to learn to let go of whatever is blocking you from seeing that love.
What are Group Five’s strengths?
You’re analytical and logical, though that may lead to increased self-criticism. More hearts popped out; 10, 4, and 2. You are literally surrounded by people who love you, I can not stress that enough. You also have some sort of material stability with the 4 of Diamonds, be that financial, housing, or health.
What are Group Five’s next steps?
Let Hermes - for lack of a better term - take you under his wing and show you the way. Give it some time, eventually this feeling of mental instability will pass and you will be happy and fulfilled. Give it time!
