Alpaca rolags, freshly carded, nestled in a Russian Khokhloma bowl. Maybe instead of spinning it I should use it as a table centerpiece;)
Please Reblog If . . .
Please reblog if you are over 25 years old. I need to convince myself that I'm not just communicating with 13 year olds. Not that they aren't nice mind you, but sometimes I feel like the only old person on tumblr.
Playing with coopworth wool.
im in here trapped but alive
Lol
I wholeheartedly agree with this….it should be taught in every school
Two baby chicks to help Lizzie stop being broody and start being a mama. Welcome Dilia and Piu-Piu.
My random design for socks for my three year old daughter. This yarn is commercial.
The combed merino wool and bombyx silk before spinning. My hands are pink!
My cochineal dyed wool and silk is being spun up. I plan to make a spiral yarn.
Soap Flakes Test
So I make my own soap, and I have shredded it to wash hand washable laundry. I saw Lux soap flakes at the grocery store and wondered if they dissolve faster than my homemade soap flakes. I bought a box. I poured a tablespoon of it into really hot water in the sink and stirred it with a wooden spoon. This water is too hot even for my rubber gloves. The commercial soap flakes take just as long to dissolve, not all of it does dissolve, and the water is cloudy just like with my homemade soap. I wash my laundry with it. It doesn't get as much stuff off the clothes as my homemade soap. My hubby's short has deodorant smeared all over the underarms and it stays there after rubbing with the Lux soap. I resort to using homemade soap and my washboard to fix this. It works very quickly. There is a hint of scent in the clothes washed with Lux. My homemade soap has no scent. When things are washed with my homemade soap they smell like fresh laundry. The result: my homemade soap is better than commercial soap flakes.

Amazing
What the top of my beer fridge looks like right now. Towels waiting for hems, bobbins of yarn waiting to be plied, yarn waiting to be woven, and a sock being knitted:)
My first raw fleece is becoming yarn! It's a three ply Corriedale cross that was super soft and clean. It is spun in the grease. Only flick carded and spun as locks, woolen style. It's so fluffy!
Some gorgeous coopworth wool just separated into locks. The lanolin is like oil more than grease in this fleece;)
Spinning a thick rug yarn to chain ply. This is Navajo churro wool that I dyed.
Warped my loom to make these towels.
