I want to hear people's thoughts on the timeline of wiz ! How old do you think the young wizard is ? How long do you think each arc takes ?
Same for pirate honestly what are y'all's ideas
What do you think Balance, Life, Myth damage is actually like. I mean, fire, ice, storm, and death are pretty self explanatory in terms of what damage they do. Maybe myth is psychic damage? But then why do most myth zero pip damage spells manifest as blue & yellow fire or light. Any ideas?
Ooh, this is a fun question!
I think Life magic feels like overwhelm. Life is all about drawing energy from the universe, from the Song of Creation, and giving it to whomever you're targeting. Healing energy for allies and harming energy for enemies. In my opinion, Life damage feels like the splitting headache you get when you listen to a high pitch for too long, or like you're so physically invigorated and agitated that it burns like lactic acid in the muscles. You hear your pulse in your neck. Your head pounds. You're burnt out. You stare at the theurgist across from you with a newfound fear. Life isn't just sunshine and rainbows. Life hunts. It consumes. It burns wild and rabid. And boy, does it hurt.
Most Myth damage takes the form of whatever beast you summon. After all, conjurers aren't shaping their spells from any primal element or Song or the energy of others. They spend their energy calling for help, and letting the creatures and beasts and people and legends they summon do the work. I like the idea of raw Myth damage (such as wand hits) feeling like psychic damage. A light glows from within you, your own mind seems to be crying out, and the Myth magic bursts, leaving you woozy and damaged.
I think Balance damage changes the most depending on context. It focuses on supporting your peers and weakening your enemies. It cases about order and justice. You will feel what the sorcerer believes you should feel. If you are friends, challenging them to a duel for funsies, then it won't hurt at all. It whittles away your HP until you concede, but it doesn't hurt YOU. But if you are enemies, and the sorcerer deems you as deserving pain, their spells will feel real, and sting you so. The grains of sand will dig into your skin and blind you. The light of Judgement and the harsh sun will burn your skin. You'll feel your sins crawling on your back.
Wizard Tip of the Day: Color code your outfit, but use a color NOT associated with your main elemental domain to confuse your enemies. No one expect a rock in the face from a dude in blue robes
OP I hope you realize this is a REAL strategy in PVP for the hit online mmorpg Wizard101
wizard101 gothic (part one?)
- the first thing they told you was not to stand to close to the edge of wizard city. you saw other people step off only for them to fall back from the sky. theyāre from here. youāre not.Ā
- your backpack is large, but not bottomless. thereās some kind of enchantment that keep things from rotting; food, snacks for your pet, plants to take home. maybe you could fit in here.Ā
- there was a class of necromancers who never graduated. you have a feeling youāve seen all of them before, somewhere, down below.
- when you get too in over your own head, and fall unconscious during battle, you always wind up in the town square, even when youāre questing alone, in places so decrepit and unknown that thereās no way anyone could possibly find and carry you back. you donāt ask who always recovers your body, but youāre plenty thankful.Ā
- a motherly voice in your head always told you what you needed to do next. thatās no longer the case.
- the blazing tree at the base of the volcano in dragonspyre has been there longer than youād like to think, and has seen things sheās too kind to burden you with.Ā
- what is your first memory here in wizard city? you woke up in the headmasterās office, before you were grabbed by the hand and ran to golem court. itās all a blur. why doesnāt anyone know more about it? why havenāt you ever questioned it?
- sometimes you wonder why your teacher sent you into a tomb to find the remains of a woman gone too soon. maybe the better question is why you didnāt put up any protest.Ā
- you donāt talk unless you need to. no wonder you never did well during classes at ravenwood.Ā
- save the world, save the world, thatās the only reason you were brought to this place in the first place, youāre here to save the world, save the world, save the world, save the-
Decided to buy some zones in W101 instead of paying for the membership again because I was like,Ā āwell, I guess itāll probably end up cheaper, at least if I only do it for a few quests,ā and bitch let me tell you, I just payed money to be able to go to the little place in Dragonspyre where thereās some portals, Prospector Zeke, and thatās it.Ā
When I was paying, I thought, āsurely, this isnāt going to only let me look at the portals that take me everywhere that actually has stuff to do, itāll let me go some other places too.ā But I was a fool! Dreadfully naive! The motherfuckers at KingsIsle Entertainment just made me meĀ pay for a fucKING HALLWAY!!!
I hate when Iām doing a dungeon for the first time and someone joins me then skips all the dialogue and runs ahead...like......please, Iām trying to absorb the plot of the game Iām playing lmao
2020 sucks but at least we got this
actually, you know what? fuck you *un-wizards your 101*
storm wizard (derogatory)
Ceren Nightchant best npc in all the freaking game
FINALLY SOMEONE WITH TASTE!!! Pls join me in the Ceren Nightchant fandom, there are three of us (/j) (maybe) (I donāt actually know)Ā
Another thing that bothers me about W101 is how they expect me to do side quests even in the most urgent and dire circumstances...I donāt mean like, delivering an item to someone or finding three ingredients for someone, those feel like things that arenāt too ridiculous to take a break from Fighting Evil to do. Theyāre quick. But how do they expect me to like......idk, stop an entire evil society on one island through a series of quests and multiple dungeons...And then just resume my main quest of fighting Malistaire?
Like. Yeah. I know itās a kidās game and so maybe I shouldnāt be bothered by stuff like that, maybe people in the intended age group arenāt. I feel like I maybe would be at that age, though? I get deeply invested in games and really put myself in the protagonistās shoes; thatās always how Iāve been. Even with silly games, itās pretty hard for me to avoid taking them super seriously. And they keep stressing the urgency of the main quest, saying stuff about how there isnāt much time, and if I hurry I just might be able to stop Malistaire...Then they make me go off and catch fish for people and do insignificant favors to even advance it, not to mention the random side quests I need to level up to a point that I can even beat the enemies Iāll face.
I mean, I know that saying āitās just not realisticā about a game for 10 year olds is pretty silly lol, but it really takes me out of the moment. Honestly, I feel like it would even if I was 10. I just donāt understand why theyād hammer in the idea that youāre running out of time to get tasks done, and then make it take days or weeks to accomplish them! I donāt see how they wouldnāt see an issue in that lmao, Iām pretty sure it would take anyone out of the moment.
Okay, hot take, but why is Pirate101 a billion times better written and more engaging than Wizard101?? Idk, I really wanna get back to W101 and finish at least the first arc, since thatās been my goal since childhood, but it just feels so repetitive and frustrating at times. Maybe Pirate101 gets more like that later; Iām still pretty early into it, and I know that Wizard101 didnāt feel that way in the beginning. But so far, in P101, the writing is funnier, the fights feel more engaging and less formulaic, and the whole thing just feels way more interesting to me.Ā
Itās kinda a shame, because I am very interested in the plot and lore of W101!! But the repetitive quests that go on and on for way too long and the card-based fighting where I end up relying on like the same 3 cards to win just canāt hold my attention very well.
