The Tres Vidas marketing team is so proud to announce that our partner org, Mosqoy has teamed up with #LushCosmetics Charity Pot! Treat yourself while helping an organization that improves women's lives in the Andes. Every Mosqoy Charity Pot you buy helps the organization to fund and support female weavers in the Sacred Valley, who continue on their tradition despite machine made copies of their original crafts. Buy the pot and post a picture with #LushLikeMosqoy to get regrammed!
If that wasn’t enough of an incentive, the lotion itself is delectable - we could go on gushing about its spreadability, amazing scent and soothing nature but here’s the product description instead:
“Now in a self-preserving formula, this is a gorgeous body lotion that does a lot of good - and not just for your skin! With a new, delicately floral perfume of ylang ylang and rosewood oils in a hydrating cocoa butter base, moisturizing with Charity Pot will leave your skin subtly perfumed and touchably soft. This rich and generous cream now contains seven ingredients sourced from our sustainable SLush Fund projects around the world. With every purchase of Charity Pot, we donate 100% of the price (minus the taxes) to small, grassroots organizations working in the areas of environmental conservation, animal welfare and human rights. You end up with velvety, beautifully-scented skin AND you’re doing a world of good with every pot purchased—nicely done!”
Mapacho River Valley. The mountains can be so hard to photograph as their scale is easily lost in the vastness of these valleys. Along these routes you will occasionally pass campos, little farms cradled in niches of the mountains such as this one. They help to give scale to how large these brown and green giants are.

Mosqoy's annual Chocolatada took place this December in Pitukiska, a small community in the Mapacho River Valley. Using proceeds from their most recent local fundraiser in Ollantaytambo and donations from Apu Lodge and Yoga Room Cusco, the students of the Andean Youth Program and the Mosqoy fellows ventured into the valley for a celebration of chocolate and prosperity.

A poem and collage of moments and characters from a few months in Peru, originally written for Filmmakers Without Borders.
Working with organizations on the ground in Peru often brings our team to question what leadership is, and this young lady is a natural born leader. She guided our team into the mountains surrounding Parubamba along a trail of ledges up into the clouds. She showed us fields of daisies, dared us to scale nearly vertical dirt hills, and passed a shrine of human skulls, delivering us back home before dinner time.
Occasionally she would turn back to make sure her following, the extranjeros were ok. While waiting for us, she would lean over the ledges to collect handfuls of straw, and put them in her blanket pack - a smaller version of the mom’s of the villages’ style. She said it was for her chanchos, the pigs that live in her families backyard.
Muy antigua she told our curious faces as we stared in uncomfortable awe at the shrine of human bones left untouched in the middle of the fields, an unfazed glint of maturity in her eyes.
The hike was a magical one, we haven’t been able to stop talking about it since; the natural passage returning us to our work week with ample images to reflect on. It is likely she will not know how much her trail blazing meant to us - her humble displays of strength and girl power, understanding of the earth and the signs from the sun encouraging us to turn around at the right moment, and foremost, her fearless curiosity towards those different from her.
She is a reminder that many of the little interactions we have with each other can have a large impact on others. Guiding someone to see something new and sharing your love of a place or experience with others may really change their day, and even their life.
She is a reminder that every day is a chance to lead, and there is no reason to get caught up in the grand gestures of what we may carve out to be a “leader” because simply sharing something you care about can inspire and change others for the better.
Photos from the hike to come.

A Peruvian Van Gogh
Tres Vidas was born out of the desire to bring others into our explorations and investigations of Peru, a land of so many treasures beyond typical tourist destinations like Machu Picchu. This September upon returning from Chile and Bolivia, we had the chance and pleasure to team up with Razberry Photography, a creative group that specializes in night life in NYC. Razberry’s Managing Editor Daniel Leinweber, agreed to step out of the led lights, resounding bass and meccas of musical artisty in Brooklyn and beyond, to explore pockets of Peru.
We shared our apartment on Saphi along with secrets of Cuzco, while he shared technical tips from years in the photography industry, like how to capture the Milky Way (Via Lactea). His perspectives albums are poignant and extremely colorful, showcasing our daily surroundings in a lucid light. His work here in Peru displays the flexibility we all have in us to expand our horizons and let in something new – and his photographs have a refreshing curiosity that aligns with Tres Vidas’s vision to “Elevate the Ordinary”. Above are some of our favorite photographs from his time with our production team, you can see more of his work by following Razberry Creative Group on Facebook and Twitter. Daniel Leinweber is now back in NYC and is a contractible freelance photographer.
