halsberus:
a line forms between his eyebrows as a cheer breaks out in a sharp wave, melding in with the rest of the game hall’s bustle. the harsh lights and stuffy air already grates on his nerves, but this was pushing it. maybe he just didn’t understand the rules or the appeal, but was it necessary to make a scene over a game of chips and cards ?
he thumbs a pair of gold tokens in his palm, watching a player lay down their cards with a smug look. at once, the table erupts into another round of whoops and groans, others even throwing down their assets angrily. heine huffs and grumbles a complaint.
❝ ━━ man, what’s their deal ? seems pretty pathetic for everyone to get so worked up over a damn game. ❞ ━━ @trickends ( sc )
“oh, you aren’t interested in joining in?” yuri enquires. they aren’t interested themselves, but the atmosphere alone makes a great gateway into overhearing what gossip may be spreading of potential useful intel about spirale. the atmosphere is loud and unruly, and, to be frank, it isn’t yuri’s cup of tea either. but here they are, flashing smiles at strangers regardless, doing what they can do for a bit of talk. yuri looks at the stranger’s tokens before smiling.
“i assumed that’s why everyone is here. is this your first time?” yuri speaks as though they come frequently, but in all honesty, this would be their first time. “i must admit though, it seems people can be quite temperamental when it comes to losing. there’s more sore losers than there are winners.” yuri wonders if they’d be any good against these people. they suspect probably, because these are the sort of games yuri can learn easily.
“but hey, if we played, i promise you i won’t throw a fit.” they smile. any talk is useful. yuri is seizing this opportunity. “only if you want to, of course.”
