For a site that claims to love animals, y’all don’t seem to understand that spaying and neutering your pet isn’t optional - it’s a basic requirement for being a good guardian and a decent human being.

If you breed animals, you are directly responsible for these deaths. Not the shelters. YOU.

For the most part? This is true, but a good RESPONSIBLE breeder makes sure that the dog never ends up in the shelter and that their dogs, if not used for show, are to be altered to prevent breeding. To top it off if anything happens that the person can not KEEP the dog for ANY reason they LEGALLY have to return the dog to the breeder or rehome the dog to someone else willing to sign the SAME contract but ONLY someone the BREEDER chooses. Not only that but most GOOD breeders have homes for their puppies before the female is even BRED, sometimes even 4 or 5 litters out. These dogs come with health contracts too that protects the BUYER from a dog with bad genetics.

Good and responsible breeders are out there. The problems are the puppy mills and the backyard breeders who ARE breeding for the reasons above. A good breeder would NEVER breed for those reasons and are doing this bc they have dedicated their LIFE to a breed and what they can do.

THE WORDS *DOODLE* AND *PURE BRED* DO NOT BELONG IN THE SAME SENTENCE UNLESS THE WORD *NOT* IS BETWEEN THEM.

DOODLES are backyard and PUPPY MILL bred ONLY.

RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS DO NOT MIX BREEDS EVER!!!

RESPONSIBLE breeders KNOW when their dogs are going to come into heat.

STOP SHAMING RESPONSIBLE BREEDERS. THEY ARE NOT THE CAUSE OF ANY OF THE PROBLEM.

RESPONSIBLE breeders breed a dog that can and should be able to do the job they were made for and breed for their dogs to do OTHER big jobs like service work, search and rescue, hunt, the list goes on and on! The fact of the matter is MOST shelter dogs come from abuse and are NOT able to do such things. Not only that but you DON'T know how the health as far as joints and cancers will go if you get from the shelter bc there IS no family history on the dog.

Mix breeds are SOMETIMES healthier, but WELL bred dogs ((and i DO mean WELL bred not PURE bred bc there IS a difference)) have just as good of chances if not BETTER at living LONG and HAPPY and HEALTHY lives as ANY mix breed or shelter dog.

So do your research. Look for lines that are accomplished in the show ring. And buy RESPONSIBLEY while being PREPARED to pay THOUSANDS of dollars for a SINGLE dog and if not? Go to your shelter and adopt a good pet. But DON'T blame the RESPONSIBLE breeders for the rest of them. They are not the problem.

Please, please don't refer to autism as a mental illness (or any other type of illness for that matter).

Mental illness, while often incurable, are disorders that can be treated with medication and therapies. Autism is a neurodevelopmental disability that cannot be treated, only accommodated for and supported.

I see a lot of well-meaning allistics listing autism as a mental illness and it really worries me. There is nothing "wrong" with an autistic brain - it's just a brain that is developed in a significantly different way to an allistic one.

As soon as we start allowing this mix-up of language, we also let people try to "cure" us with fake miracle pills, organic toothpaste, and abusive behaviour therapies. Please think about how you word these things.
