So this is new. We’ll give it a shot. It’s really hard to edit on your notes app on your phone so I’m sorry. I present to you....
I slammed my hand on the wall wincing in pain. This was the 3rd time I had tried to make this casserole but I had burnt it into a char again. I put my oven mitt back on and dumped the mess in the garbage. Walking back I grabbed my phone and dialed the local pizza places number
I feminine voice picked up “hello lionas pizza, what can I get you?”
“Hey I want a medium veggie pizza please.”
I heard a soft gasp from the other line before the voice stuttered out again. “Um y-yes of course! Eh what else can I get you?”
Why did she get so nervous all of a sudden? “No, that’s it.”
She sounded really cute, but there was silence on the other line “um hello? Do you want my address?”
I chuckled “yeah I live at 176 Forest drive.”
“Ok it’ll be there in half an hour!”
I scrubbed the burnt casserole off the dish with rigorous determination. I should just give up on cooking and live off takeout. As if on cue the doorbell rang. Wiping my hands on a tea towel I walked to the door and opened it to a very sweaty, attractive tall girl holding a pizza “Hey your early! I called you only 15 minutes ago.”
I noticed how flushed and out of breath she was “are you OK?”
She took a deep breath in before her knees buckled beneath her. I dropped the towel and caught her by her elbows. I grabbed her under her armpits and dragged her in my house. I pulled her over to the nearby couch and lay her down. I went to the kitchen to grab a glass of water. On my way I closed the door leaving the pizza forgotten on the doorstep.
The first thing I registered was the soothing sensation of fingers running through my hair. I was so tired after I ran in that pizza order for king. *oh my god the pizza* I sat straight up opening my eyes and taking in my surroundings. This place seemed so familiar. A attractive voice I had heard many times over the phone sounded behind me “do you want some water?”
I twisted my torso so I could see behind me. And there he was the man I had been crushing on for months sitting behind me. I took in the situation and my positioning on the couch. With me laying down... my head would have been resting on his lap. My heart started pounding and I looked for words. “Ah uh I’m sorry about the pizza! The car broke down and I said I would be here in a halfanhoursoIranhere.”
I turned so I was sitting on the couch beside him. “I’m sorry. I ramble when I’m nervous.”
His mouth curled into a small smile and he held a glass of water out to me. “You ran all the way here? Why would you do that. I would have understood. Please just drink some water. I called your work already and told them what happened.”
I grabbed the water and took a sip. The heat of a blush travelling across my cheeks. “Thank you sir...”
His hand squeezed my shoulder “please call me king. Now what’s your name?”
I finished the water and placed it on the table in front of me. “Um Diane.”
“That’s a beautiful name for a beautiful girl.”
I hid my deepening blush with my hair. His hand lifted off my shoulder before he asked “have we met before? I feel like I know you.”
“Well that’s I’m always the one who delivers pizza to you.”
He snapped his fingers “of course! I should have recognized you sooner, you come to my house a lot.”
I chuckled “it’s ok-and I guess I do come here a lot. You must really like pizza.”
He shook his head “well yes but it’s mostly because I can’t cook. I try but I always fail and just order some fast food.”
I stood up “I can cook! I’ll make you something right now!”
He grabbed my arm trying to pull me back down to the couch “no you mustn’t. Your exhausted. If anything I should be cooking for you! But I’ll make you some tea instead.”
I shook my head pulling on his grip “no it’s ok. It’s the least I can do after dropping your food.”
He paused for a minute in thought before responding “well ok. But I have some conditions. One you must drink some tea. And two you teach me how to cook.”
He stood up beside me and lead me through his house to his small dirty kitchen.
He moved to the kettle filling it with water and putting it on the stove. I watched in fascination as his hands expertly struck a match and lit the burner. He moved his eyes to me “are you all right? I’m sorry I know the place is a mess. I wasn’t expecting company.”
I moved and began picking up dishes and placing them in the sink. “It’s ok. It’s really not that messy. We just have to put some dishes away.”
I began to rinse the dirty dishes when I felt him grip my waist and pull me away. “Please. Allow me. I shouldn’t be letting a guest do this.”
He showed me a small table and chair with the sound of the whistling pot in the background. “You drink your tea while I clear up a bit. Afterwards you can teach me to cook.”
He moved and pulled a clean cup from the cupboard and a teabag from a nearby tin. I watched as he poured the water into the cup with the teabag. He brought the steaming mug over to me and placed it in front of me. “Well I can’t teach you to cook in a night. And besides. It’s very late.”
He ran the water and resumed my dishes cleaning. “Then you’ll have to come back. I’ll walk you home tonight and tomorrow oh can come by and begin my lessons.”
I got up from my seat moving towards the door “ok I’ll come by. We can start off simple and make pancakes.”
He turned the water off moving towards me “it’s a date! Now let’s get you home. As you said. It’s quite late.”
~time skip because I’m lazy~
Scraping shoes filled the silence between us as we made our way up my steps. We stopped at the door “well this is me. Thank you for all your help. I’m sorry about your pizza.”
He fiddled with his fingers. He seemed so nervous. “Um it’s really no problem. I enjoyed spending time with you.”
I admired his freckles that dotted his face. I suddenly groaned “oh no! I forgot all about my car! It’s still broken down on the side of the road.”
He grabbed my hand making my heart skip. “It’s OK I’ll grab it for you tomorrow.”
“Please you don’t have to do tha-“
I was cut off by a hand covering my mouth. “Let me do this for you.”
He moved his hand from my mouth pushing a strand of hair from my face. I hadn’t noticed how close we were. I felt a rush of bravery and closed the space between us giving a small peck. His hands fell away and he blushed deeply. Embarrassed I pulled my keys out and unlocked the door. I stepped across the barrier before looking back “I’m sorry. I rushed it didn’t I.”
He still had that shocked look on his face. He seemed to be in a daze. “King?”
He looked at me then gave a giddy smile “I’ll see you tomorrow at 8.”
I nodded before closing the door softly. I placed my forehead on the door in disbelief. I can’t believe I did that. I smiled as I heard kings muffled voice behind the door “holy shit. She’s amazing”
