Do you know what it is like to be somewhere all your life then all of sudden move almost 2,000 miles away for school without a choice?
Well that is exactly what happened to me about a few months ago. I am from the best place on earth in my opinion (Miami,FL). Yes it's just how they show it in the movies beaches, tourist and shopping malls every where.
Little did I know this was going to end for me very soon. Truthfully I didn't know what I was getting myself into so I was actually excited. I've lived in Miami for 19 years and have only been out of the state once and that was to come to the school I am at now.
My freshman year of college was a breeze and everything was going swell. I was only 45 minutes away from home, I was on the cheerleading team, had a 3.5 GPA and I knew most of the school by the end of the first semester.
What more could I ask for?
After a long summer I was ecstatic to go back to Lynn University and this is when everything changed.
I was ready for something different but I didn't mind staying where I was. On August 23, 2013 I had a flight to NY to attend St.John's University.

When I got to the campus I was ready for a new start but after orientation everything went downhill from there.
I begin to realize that I was not in Florida or at my old school any more so the people are different and there are different rules here. I was expecting to just do the same thing I did at my old school but it wasn't that easy.
For the first month of school I was bored, alone and had nothing going for myself. I wasn't sure if I could handle it and i was already ready to go back home.
It was just something I wasn't not used to and coming from a transfer perspective it's not that easy making friends when everybody else has their group of friends already.
Every week I will have something new about being a transfer and tips on how to make the most of your new school. I also will talk about what I did and how I coped with going from a school with 2,000 students to 25,0000.
This is a picture of me and my parents right before they left to go back home to Florida.
