The Truckload Academy Accreditation Program Expands Education

Since 1938, the TCA has been supporting the truckload industry through educational programs such as the Truckload Academy Accreditation Program, which gives TCA members and other individuals in the industry the opportunity to expand their professional knowledge by earning certifications and certificates. The program is designed for individuals who want to advance their careers and promote the success of their companies. The Truckload Academy Accreditation Program currently offers two programs. The Fleet Manager Certification Program helps professionals stand out among their peers by demonstrating their commitment to excellence. The Truckers Against Trafficking Certification Program helps trucking professionals gain a clearer understanding of human trafficking. As for certificates, trucking professionals can continue their education in recruitment, retention, or human resources. All of these certificates require at least 40 continuing education credits and must be completed within two years.

Kids Without Cancer Funds Michigan Doctors

In particular, it funds professionals at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan, which is recognized as one of the leading pediatric cancer care facilities in the United States. It notes that approximately 100 children receive care at the hospital at any point in time. Over the years, more than 11,000 partners have joined the program, and CBP hopes that these numbers will continue growing.

Qualifications for Truck Drivers

In August of 2016, the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics reported truck driving as one of the country's fastest-growing occupations. The American Trucking Association has suggested that the industry will need 240,000 new drivers by 2023 to keep pace with increased demands for land freight. Open positions require a commercial driver's license, which in turn demands a safe driving record and the ability to pass a standard physical fitness examination. In general, drivers must have 20/40 vision or better and a 70-degree vision field per eye, as well as good depth perception and freedom from color blindness. All commercial drivers nationwide must be at least 18 years old to drive in-state and no younger than 21 years old to cross state lines. Individual companies may have higher age minimums and may set forth heavy lifting requirements. Drivers must commit to remaining physically capable of performing their duties and remaining free of drugs. Candidates must submit to a drug test before they receive an active license and must agree to random drug tests through the life of the license. These requirements exist in addition to any state regulations, with the most stringent rules taking precedence.
