Black is Beautiful idc what they lied and told you.
He said it!
“This empowerment also applies to women of color, trans women, and people with disabilities. When you look in the media, as Mikki Kendall suggested on Twitter, there are very few examples of fat, trans, or dark-skinned women. As such, selfies present themselves as a way to make our bodies visible, and in a radical way. So you take your selfies, peeps — they’re one way to say “fuck you” to the body standards that have made us miserable for so long.”

Is this the message we want to send to girls in our society?

How women vs. men are perceived in today’s society.
I Am Her
“I Am Her”
I am her, she is me A girl who no longer believes in dreams & knows things aren't always as they seem As she walks down the street Everybody that she meets Stares; Glares; & if they dare Try to approach her To take the encounter further she will not alter Her stance is fierce She stares back with eyes that pierce Right into their souls Just so they know That she's been hurt before But the victim she plays no more She's becoming the victor Rising from a situation that tore Her heart out of her chest & left her mind tangled in a nest Of lies & deceit A bitter girl but she kept the receipt Which enabled her to return the hate & trade it in for love Erase that painful date With guidance from up above She regained her smile in the face of evil & wrong She knew she had it in her all along It was just a matter of letting it go & letting it be Seems that's all you need to set yourself free I am her, she is me

Krystinaaleida: i thought this post was very interesting. as women we have a lot of unreal expectations to fulfill as far as what society has said what is beautiful. it is very sad.
Everyone should watch this Dove Campaign! It is about a forensic artist drawing how a group of women perceive themselves and then later drawing how a group of strangers perceive the women as. The group of women and strangers have never met before, and the forensic artist does not see anyone prior to the drawing. This video shows that women always point out their flaws, but never notice the good things about themselves. It’s an amazing campaign, story, and video! Go watch!
