“Ya know, normally I would say ‘no’ but maybe it would be good for our relationship if we were honest with each other,” Mundungus said, moving to the television to turn it on. Of course, now that he thought about it, it would’ve been better to talk after the show.

“Let’s stick with no.”

fletcher-mundungus:

“Rob ya! Pfft! Do ya think so little of me?” Mundungus replied, putting up an offended expression. It wasn’t exactly above him to steal, nor to steal from people he knew, but from those he considered friends he’d refrain until they didn’t need that particular item any longer. “Any way, what about watching Eurovision? The U.K. is up first, and we can make fun of everyone’s clothes.”

“Do you really want me to answer that?” Tristan gestured towards his television, sitting in the corner and scarcely used. “Go for it.”

fletcher-mundungus:

“How long have ya had one? Because for what y’know someone is planning to rob ya right now.” And funnily enough, Mundungus was not talking about himself even though the thought did briefly pop into his mind. “Plus, I’m not really sure me landlord would be cool with me having one of those thing. And what if Ren took it as an invite to come over? I luv her, but she’s better in small doses.”

“Since I finished school,” Tristan didn’t know who Ren was, and he didn’t really care. “Don’t rob me.”

fletcher-mundungus:

“Really, mate? One, why should I make it easier for thieves. Two, ya really think that would stop a kneazle, or a cat, from pestering ya about that?”

“I’ve never been robbed, and I have one.”

fletcher-mundungus:

“Well, no, right.” Mundungus could’ve come to Oi’s defence and explained that he had not given the cheese to the kneazle before asking Tristan to look after it, but that would mean get the heat for it. “But y’know how cats are.. so demanding, innit? Open the door, now close it, open it again. And I want to come scratch your legs right this moment. Or I shall lay right on your crosswords even if you are not finished just because…”

Oi gave him a stare and that cross between a meow and a growl in protest, or maybe in agreement that wizards were just to obey every whim of a kneazle.

“Then install a cat door. Or leave the window open.”

fletcher-mundungus:

Mundungus was, for a moment, unsure who Martin was in this equation, but did it truly matter? A bed had been eaten by his kneazle. “I could be because he wanted some cheese. They get pretty cranky without their weekly dose of Parmesan,” he said, following Tristan’ indication and opening the cupboard above the sink.

 “Here they are.” He took a couple of glasses and moved to get the bottle and filling them up. “I can repay Martin’s bed. A new one. Shall we toast to it?”

“He wasn’t here a week,” Tristan replied, taking a glass and taking a sip straight away.

fletcher-mundungus:

“Who? Oi?” Mundungus asked, glancing at his kneazle—who did the feline equivalent of ‘Act natural’—and then back at Tristan. “Mate, I don’t think how the kneazle-wizard relationship works. Also.. where do ya keep your glasses? Or do ya want to drink directly from the bottle?”

“He ate Martin’s bed,” Tristan replied, gesturing to the cupboard above the sink.

fletcher-mundungus:

“Did ya have fun? Ya did, didn’t ya?” Mundungus went on talking with the kneazle. And while Tristan was busy in the bathroom, he put the bottle of firewhiskey down and started to look for glasses. “I hope you didn’t get into expensive trouble, Oi. Where are the glasses, now?”

As a reply, Oi simply licked their whiskers.

“You need to train that thing.”

fletcher-mundungus:

“Sorry about that, mate. If ya want to finish wash off, I’ll wait here,” Mundungus said, making way inside Tristan’s flat. “Oh, thanks. I’mma see how they’s doing. Oi! Oi, what are ya doing, ya cursed beast?!” He called, entering the kitchen and receiving a loud, annoyed meow in reply. 

“Aw, I missed ya too, ya beast.”

Tristan ignored him, pulling his clothes on and hanging up his towel before making his way back out into the main room of his apartment.

“I’ll pick you up at six. I’m not sure what day yet, but when the right one comes, it’ll be at six.”

“Okay, then,” Tristan replied, a small frown on his face at not knowing enough information.

“Alright.”

“Not a big talker, are you?” Mafalda said, before giggling once.

“Not really,” Tristan replied. It wasn’t a statement he hadn’t heard before.

fletcher-mundungus:

“Thanks, mate,” Mundungus said, making his way inside the flat. “Ya.. ehm.. ya maybe want to get dressed? Just, y’know, not to get a cold, or something.”

“You interrupted my shower,” he replied, grabbing clothes from his drawers and making his way to the bathroom. “Your Kneazle is in the kitchen.”

“I think my mother lived here once.”

“The landlord is in 1A.”

“You don’t get out much, obviously. And I have high hopes that it’d get Caradoc’s knickers twisted real tight. A brother for a brother, sort of.” The magnitude of the unnecessary resentment that Marlene held for Caradoc didn’t dawn on her like it should have in the moment. Caradoc had never wronged her; he had only ever been a friend to Frank, whom she’d considered more than a brother since she knew the word. “So.”

“I know a few cleaning spells,” Ivy called out once her anticipatory giggles had subsided.

fletcher-mundungus:

“I…” Mundungus trailed off, glancing nervously around before looking back at Tristan. “Ehm, couldn’t… couldn’t talk inside, mate? I don’t… I don’t really want to talk about this stuff outside.” His voice quiet, almost whispering, and his gaze keeping that sad puppy-eyed look. “Please.”

“Fine,” he sighed, stepping to the side and letting Mundungus in.
