I'm just now realizing that this blog is a year old today, and I can't help but say how grateful I am for the amount of people who love Dmitri 🥹. I was so nervous about putting him on here because I know how weird the Tumblr rpc is to original characters, especially with a faceclaim who isn't that well known yet. But yet I've seen so many mutuals love writing with him, and I am so happy for that.

Not to be that person, but I want to see the day people realize that Oliver and Ryan are only saying what they're saying about Buddie so people will keep coming to these cons so they'll get money. The same ship that almost ruined their ability to be in the same environment btw, and let's not forget the stank face Oliver made one time when he saw a fan's "Buckley-Diaz" shirt.

The ambulance bay doors slam open just as Jack steps out of Trauma One, the smell of antiseptic and rain mixing together beneath the harsh fluorescent lights overhead. Somewhere deeper in the ER, monitors are alarming nonstop while a trauma page echoes across the department for the third time in under twenty minutes. Jack barely seems to notice anymore.

He’s halfway through pulling off a pair of gloves when he catches sight of the unfamiliar physician near the nurses station. New face. Still looks awake enough to have hope.

“That won’t last,” Jack says dryly as he approaches, not bothering to clarify what he means. The corner of his mouth twitches faintly before he offers out a hand. “Jack Abbot. Attending.” His eyes flick briefly toward the chaos unfolding around them—paramedics rolling in another patient, a resident speed-walking past carrying blood tubes, somebody yelling for respiratory from down the hall. “And unless somebody lied to me, you’re Dmitri Kozlov.”

Jack releases his hand after a quick shake before grabbing a tablet abandoned on the counter nearby.

“You picked a hell of a night to start,” he says while skimming over fresh labs populating the screen. “We’re down two nurses, psych’s overflowing, and triage is one bad decision away from open rebellion.” A tired breath leaves him through his nose before he glances back over again, exhaustion sitting heavily beneath his eyes despite the steady calm in his posture.

“You still regretting the transfer, or should I give it another hour?”

"Not yet." Dmitri looked up at the screens. "I'll take... The one in Room Twelve. The one with the concussion." He stated, grabbing a tablet and pulling up the patient information as he headed towards the room.

He put gloves on his hands, looking down at the woman laying on the bed in a C-collar. Despite her concussion, she did not look happy to be there. Dmitri walked up to the head of the bed so she was able to see him. "Hello, I'm Dr. Kozlov, I'll be your attending for the next few hours. So, I hear you have a concussion from a car accident." He stated, earning a hum of confirmation from the woman.

He stepped down towards her legs, "Can you feel pain when I do this?" Having no choice, Dmitri quickly pinched her skin on her ankle to get a pain response. "OW! Why did you do that?!" the woman yelled, which Dmitri also took to be a good thing. "I had to test the nerves in your legs to check for any paralysis. The pen trick isn't always good enough."

Well, that was rude. Jack watched Dmitri walk away after ignoring introducing himself to him and brushing off everything he had said. Clearly this was an indication on how working with him going forward would be. There was brief consideration about talking to Robby about moving him to days since he’d probably fit in better there. The night shift worked as a tight well oiled machine. That level of rudeness just wouldn’t fit with his team.

Jack took his tablet and headed off to his own patient, trusting one of the nurses to come get him if there any problems.

Dmitri thought about Jack for a moment as he typed out the order for a CT, hoping that he didn't make a bad first impression with him. If he did, he didn't mean to. He was just wanting to get right to treating patients so they could clear up more beds. This wasn't his first rodeo.

"So, I am going to order you a head CT, and keep you monitored for a few hours. If you're in any pain, scale from one to ten, with ten being the most painful." Dmitri informed. "Three." Dmitri nodded at her, "Okay, good. I'll be right back." He headed up to the nurse's station, "Hey, Lena, do you know if there's a CT available in radiology? Room Twelve needs one urgently." Lena nodded her head, "Be right on that, hun!"

Dmitri approached the older doctor when he saw him next, "Hey, Dr. Abbot? I'm really sorry if I came off as a bit of a dick back there. I didn't mean to, I was just wanting to get people treated as quickly as possible. This isn't even my first ER... "
