There’s no hiding from this, son. We have a job to do.
Aesthetic 01 → Troy Chevalier as Shaggy Rogers in Scooby Doo!
“We're going back to find out what it was.”
“Swell. I'll wait here and when you find out, send me a telegram.”

Troy’s hand reached out and Carter grabbed it without a second thought, helping hoist the other man up. He had to nod in appreciation at Troy’s joke, lame as it may be; it was still good. Carter didn’t exactly know him well enough, only vaguely recognising him from before he’d left. Not well enough to really ask how he was doing. Instead he opted for a “What the hell are you doing out here in that?” Troy’s thin shirt was enough to make Carter shiver and he stuffed his hands in his coat pockets for good measure.
"Thanks,” Troy said once he was standing firm. It was really nice of Carter to help him up without hesitation. When Carter inquired about his current outfit, Troy chuckled softly to himself and smiled. The kind of eerie smile that was playful and goofy but also pretty thinly veiling annoyance. Troy usually liked to make a joke out of situations and feelings rather than being upset and negative. This was not the time and certainly not when he only vaguely maybe recognized Carter. He wasn’t about to unload his drama on someone who was basically a stranger. “Now that’s a story.” Wiggling his eyebrows a little, Troy added, “A scandalous one.” He continued on in a little bit more serious tone, “And a long one, you probably don’t want to hear it. Just know... it was not worth it. I’m fucking freezing.” He hugged his arms to his chest, tucking his hands tightly under them to warm up. “And I’m so sending her the doctor’s bill for the cold I’m going to get.”
rosanadl:
Her arms crossed over her chest at his words, an impassible look pasted on her face. Her head did get a small tilt to the side, however, instants before one of her eyebrows slightly quirked up. “Not only that, but those are definitely entertaining activities. Compared to this.” Rosana replied, giving a disgusted glance at the game he’d just turned away from. That glance was enough for her to see another one of his lives popping out, not that she cared much about it. “What’s your plan with all this? Did you only use Rowan to take me out on a date? Because that is not what I agreed for.” She replied, her eyes slightly narrowed at him. Figured if she was despicable enough, maybe they could finally leave this place. Though it appeared she was wrong with what he said next. “How’s that? If we go now, I might just play this stupid thing. But only if we get this surprise for Rowan first.”
Troy couldn’t help the way he laughed with his whole body when she asked if he had used his sister to score a date with her. Did she honestly think he was that dishonest and slimy? “Oh. My god. No. That is not-- no.” His attitude changed from amused surprise to genuine concern as he explained a little. “I’ve hardly talked to Rowan since I’ve been back and I didnt--” Troy took a deep breath, looking down at his shoes shamefully. “I didn’t talk to her for a few years before I came home so... I really, honestly, do want to fix it.” Looking up at Rosana again he said genuinely, “I asked you here for help, it wasn’t a trick.”
Shrugging a little he stepped away from the game to let the lurking kids descend upon the machine. “Okay, but I’m holding you to that. You have to play later but for now...you want to walk to the diner or something? I don’t even know what I’m getting Rowan yet, I figured you know what she likes better than I do.”

“ you really ARE. ” she rolled her eyes. Casey turned to slip the groceries into a bag. a pointer finger tapped on the counter as she faced him again, the steely expression she wore clearly forced by the grin that pulled at her mouth. the movement was more out of fun than anything else ; she’d become desperate for anyone or anything to lighten the mood. “ twelve dollars. ” she laughed, glancing towards the far end of the store.
it was a nice idea in theory but she doubted there’d be little success in its practice. no matter how desperate she might’ve been. she shook her head, puzzled. “ no. i could get away with it. except, i have too many morals. you know how many times i’ve scored employee of the month? i can’t lose that streak. ”
Casey’s attempt at a steely expression only served to widen Troy’s grin. It was funny watching her try to act annoyed when he could tell she appreciated the distraction from the uneventful store. They both looked towards the back of the store for a moment in contemplation before Troy’s attention returned to the woman in front of him. “You? Employee of the month?” He teased as if there was no way she could ever achieve such a lofty accomplishment. “I’ll believe it when I see it.” He scoffed playfully and then smiled at her warmly so she knew he really was only kidding.
Leaning in closer again and lowering his voice Troy asked, “Do you actually like working here?” with genuine interest.

Normally, Caroline would’ve taken an opportunity like this to make a rash, inappropriate joke, but with the cold and wind only worsening, nothing came. Regaining her composure, the girl managed to gain balance long enough to stand up straight, releasing the other’s shoulder from beneath her grasp. “ You’d think we were in Northern Canada, or something, not INDIANA.” Sure, winters got cold, but never this drastic, and never without at least a little warning. If it wasn’t for the growing pile of hail, she’d have already taken off her heels to get her home quicker but as CRAZY as she was, she wasn’t quite that insane. “ It’s possible,” she said, finally looking up at the individual, the drunken state making it harder for her to make out who it was, but alas there was a familiarity about him. “I know a lot of people, we haven’t dated or hooked up, have we?” She asked bluntly, spitting out the first of thoughts that came to mind, only to resort to shaking her head. “ No, no, a face like that I’d remember going down on..it can’t be that.”
Troy rolled his eyes then shook his head a little at the weather. He was in complete agreement with Caroline that it was ridiculous. Clearly, they were both under-dressed for the freezing weather too but that wasn’t important, only how sudden and extreme it was. As Caroline looked up at him, Troy could see her struggling to recognize him in her drunken state. He couldn’t quite decipher if she really couldn’t place him or if she was just having a hard time taking in his features in general though.
The corners of his mouth tugged up into a little smile when she asked if they had dated or hooked up. Only just managing to hold in his laughter, Troy was completely caught off guard by her lewd comment. His mouth dropped open slightly and he just looked at Caroline for a moment before slowly smirking. “Honestly, I have no idea why I don’t remember you better. You’re fun.” Chuckling softly, he started to slowly walk in the direction of his house again. It was still far off but they needed to get somewhere before they had a chance to freeze out here. “No, I’d definitely remember if we’d fucked. That can’t be it.” Smiling charmingly at her, Troy added, “Besides, there’s no way I’d manage to bag someone as gorgeous as you.”
priya-helms:
Priya pursed her lips at his snap back at her and it was then that she realized who it was. Immediately, she crossed her arms and took a more defensive stance just the she had in the past. Priya had one mind to let him freeze to death especially since him and his friends had caused her so much grief over the years, but another mind, the compassionate one, spoke differently. “You’ll freeze out here.” She said with a tone of sass. “And I have every right to leave you.” Priya paused and looked around. “But unlike you, I’m not heartless….” She let out a breath. “You want a coat?”
'You’ll freeze out here,’ To Troy, Priya almost sounded happy about that. It certainly wouldn’t be any skin off her back considering their history. Troy knew he had let his friends mistreat her and even worse, he had treated her badly himself. For that reason, he didn’t expect her to have any compassion towards him and wouldn’t fault her if she did just leave him here. To his surprise, Priya offered him a coat. The long-haired man’s brows scrunched together as he looked up at her in confusion and slight distrust. “Seriously?”
Realizing he probably wasn’t going to get another chance to say yes, Troy stood quickly once he got over his initial surprise. “Uh, y-yeah. I do.”
madelinemendoza:
Nobody deserved to be out in this kind of weather, she thought as she watched the seemingly stranger (though who was really a stranger in their town) reach down –to put something on his foot?– before they headed in her direction. She turned on the porch light, though through the thickening of the snow flurries, it didn’t seem like much help. Still, as the person approached forward she continued to gesture her c’mon with her hand as she pushed back to keep the door open, wind rustling everything in sight. And, as soon as he got close enough, she realized who it was; Troy Chevalier. She knew who he was, but not so much about who he really was.
Waiting in the cold still, she finally heard his voice, adding, “It’s no problem.” A flushness came to her cheeks as the harsh winter hit her before she brought her long sleeve shirt over her hands to tuck into the fabric. “Of course you can stay here!” She was quick to reply, giving him a glance over before her smile peaked out. “I’d rather you be warm and safe than braving the storm right now.”
Troy returned the smile, honestly so grateful to be inside. The idea of walking all the way home totally unequipped for the weather had been a terrible one. “Thank you... Madeline, right?” He hurried to actually get in the house so that she could shut the door. It wasn’t helping either of them to let all the warm air out of the house. “You’re an angel.” He gushed gratefully, offering her a warm smile. As he looked around the house, Troy tucked his hair behind his ear. “Is anyone else here?” He asked curiously, looking over at the young woman again. If anyone else was home he wanted to make sure they were comfortable with him taking shelter here too.

Slowly, Elliott let his hands fall back to his sides. He wasn’t sure he could trust the other, he still looked rather… jumpy. But he did appear and sound calmer, so there really was no way in keeping his hands up. “Yeah, like at Hideaway.” He simply replied with a small nod. Not exactly the best job, but for someone like him who never even had to work his entire life until now, he couldn’t really find anything better than that. And for sure, with time, he’d grow to appreciate it a little better.
His head tilted to the side a little, a smile playing on his lips for a moment. Normally, he wouldn’t have accepted, unless it was someone he knew he could sneak home later. But this was a new place, he ought to make friends, or at least something that resembled it. Plus, he’d just gotten quite a lot of money from that stolen necklace, he could afford it. “I guess I can do that. But, don’t get a habit out of it.” He joked, not waiting much longer before walking past the man and heading for the pub.
Troy smiled gratefully when Elliott agreed to buy him a drink. It wasn’t exactly in the capacity Troy would have liked but it was certainly better than no drink. Plus there was nothing stopping him from admiring the view even if he couldn’t do more than that. “Yeah, yeah,” Troy waved off his ‘don’t make it a habit’ comment with a little laugh. As they walked together through the alleyway, Troy glanced over at Elliott again. “So what’s your name anyways? When’d you move here?” He didn’t recognize the other man from when he grew up in Hawkins so that meant he had to have moved in at some point... even if that was five years ago by now.

Car out of commission and still finding herself walking to the diner to leave a note for the owner, Catherine was bundled up as best as she could. She hated the snow, and though she was ill-suited for cold weather, the woman still didn’t have the clothes for it. That led to several layers of clothes and still she found herself shivering on her way home. Taking a shortcut through a neighborhood, she looked skeptically at the man sitting on the sidewalk. “Surely I don’t need to point out the fact that it’s cold as fuck out here right? Why are you on the sidewalk?”
His cold fingers fumbled and Troy started to actually shiver. “I’m trying to get these fucking shoes on, you know, to help with the cold.” The frustration in his voice was entirely aimed at the shoes he just couldn’t manage to get on. Huffing in defeat and slowly standing, Troy finally looked at the person who had just spoken. “Do you know if the weather’s supposed to get much worse than this? I heard hail but that sounds like some bullshit. We never get weather this bad in Hawkins this early in the year.”
rosanadl:
She could tell there were some nerds trying to get to the arcade she was leaned against, but she ignored them. At least she ignored them the best she could. But when one of them made a move to tap on her shoulder, Rosana quickly kicked herself off the game, making sure not to let any of those greasy teenage boys touch her as she got farther from them, not even giving them a glance. “Being an antisocial prick and playing idiotic games is not what I call having a good time.” She replied, crossing her arms as she stood behind him. Definitely, standing against one of those arcades was not a good idea. “Boohoo, you died. Can we go now? I didn’t come here to watch you play this thing.”
Troy held his tongue as Rosana verbally bashed arcade games, focusing on the one he was playing instead. Her moving around, for reasons he didn’t see, and asking impatiently if they could go signaled to him that she really wasn’t about to hang around and let him finish his game. What a buzzkill. Spinning around to face her, Troy abandoned hope of having any fun on this excursion. Bobbing his head a little as he spoke, he addressed Rosana. “Let me guess, fun to you is just shoe shopping and making out.” Not that he could really bash either of those pastimes since he quite enjoyed both. Regardless, he had to defend the honor of video games. “Have you ever actually tried to play one of these? I can help you.” His previously sassy attitude calmed down again and he smirked a little at Rosana. “You seem like the kind of person who really likes winning,” Troy suggested, thinking she might play if she thought she had a chance at actually doing well at the game.
