You know, I'm still pretty surprised that Pokérus was actually mentoined in the anime continuity, and by Dr. Namba of all people.
Since he went that far out of what the players are supposed to know about, I can imagine him wanting to study Missingno. He comissioned Butch and Cassidy to go and catch him one, and when they tried, they got corrupted, disappeared for 12 years and only recently reemerged with their ambitions and personalities being mysteriously altered.
Well, since ask-the-team-rocket-executives also suggested a duo plus their scientist, I think it would make sense if I also requested headcanons for Butch...

I am considering maybe doing this as a weekly thing, like have a headcanon day where I just do headcanons for everyone. I could do a bunch for specific characters, or even do themes like how would everyone react to a specific situation or what’s everyone’s favorite flavor of ice cream
They are really fun and don’t actually take me that long to do, so let me know if you’d be interested in reading something like that on a weekly basis!
-Butch did not really like Cassidy all that much when they first started working together. Their friendship was definitely a slow burn that developed over time.
-Doesn’t say anything when he gets food and they get his order wrong. (Cassidy does)
-Wears contacts because he doesn’t think glasses would work well for his ‘tough’ persona. Not very Golem like at all.
-If you remember his name on the first try he will instantly like you. We’re talking more than just a slight fondness here. This is bend over backwards, go to the ends of the earth, treat you like the precious cinnamon roll you are kind of like.
-Refuses to go to Starboks, not because he doesn’t like anything on the menu but because they write his name wrong on the side of the cup every single time. He’ll make his own damn coffee, thank you very much.
-If you do get his name wrong, he’ll be upset but won’t really hold it against you. He just expects it at this point.
-Lets Mightyena come out of its pokeball at night and sleep at the foot of the bed.
-Is a secret nerd. Very into science fiction. Likes Dungeons & Dragonairs but doesn’t have anyone to play with. Has been begging Cassidy to go with him to Celadon City Comic Con for years.
