The way Jack says he wishes his story would be forgotten and he wouldn't be remembered as a martyr.
And Jonny laughs at him and tells him, that's just how these things go. Some people get to be heroes and it doesn't matter if their stories aren't true or they don't deserve it. That there is nothing Jack can do to escape this legacy.
And yet. When he tells the story to us, he he sings the song, repeats the legend and then he tells us the truth. He tells us who Jack really was.
It's such a small part, but there is something so soft about that, it gets me every time.
