Christopher St.Leger was born in northwest Indiana in 1973. He studied architecture in Ohio and in Budapest, Hungary, and now lives in central Texas. Since the late nineties, Christopher St.Leger’s paintings have explored the enigmatic connection of mood and place. Snapshot sources for his work capture fleeting images of those parts of the world the artist traverses seasonally. He transforms these images with his loose rendering style, an attitude of experimentation which may stem from teaching himself to paint, into something perhaps personal, but also ambient and more enduring. Each painting is approached as if with a question that invokes a dialogue between the artist and his surroundings, between a cautious being and an irrational force.

Rogan Brown is an Anglo-Irish artist who now resides in the wilds of southern France. There’s a monster at the end of this book. It’s the blank page where the story ends and you’re left alone with yourself and your thoughts

I hate it when I finish a good book!
Most adorable little owl which has absolutely nothing to do with art! People who know me reasonable well know that I am most obsessed with three things: owls, wolfs and full moons...
So my second year 10 project was based on 'Order and Disorder in the Natural World' and it focused on abstract techniques. I particularly struggled with the abstract area but I enjoyed the project nevertheless! I really like the way the Karl Blossfeldt and Michael Landy artist studies turned out despite my long battle with the annotations for them! I really enjoyed doing the inks and wax resist experiment and I ended up using both techniques on my final piece! The Kandinsky style experiment was also pretty fun and the wax resist came through on to the page which created a very interesting effect!
Loving this song at the moment
And this is the second half of my year 10 still life project. Here I have developed my final idea further and made it more personal by adding in my favourite book of the time (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) and my glasses to symbolise my view of the world. I have also gotten ride of the other flowers, vase and old fashioned book box and added in some round pots and a cloth to add interest and depth to the composition. I also studied the formal elements, golden mean and rule of thirds. I did a new photo shoot, a second media experiment page and a mock up. I then did my final piece a picture of which I don't have (the actual piece is locked up in my school) and evaluated it and created a development page. Couldn't resist using one of my favourite quotes in my development page: 'Time is not neutral, it makes no sense and it bears no logic. It has nothing to do with nature or fairness or physics. Time is cruel!' - Heather Killough (Walden, The Strip)
So this half of my year 10 still life project. I have drawn inspirations from some of the most influential artist such as Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Wayne Thiebaud. Being the dark and twisty person I am my still featured a lot of momento morri as I was greatly inspired by 16-17 century Dutch art. Other things that I wanted to involve in my still life were a watch as a symbol of how precious time is, some lilies which symbolise justice/ purity of mind and a book symbolising knowledge. This part of the project is basically a brainstorm of all my ideas and inspirations. And that massive pile of skulls took FOREVER to make using photoshop - lesson to self (and anyone else doing art) PLAN! Think about what you are getting yourself into!! Also all the pictures are taken in chrome because it makes everything look at least semi-descent! And they were also take on my phone so sorry about the crappy quality!
Decided to actually put in some of my work this time! Ironically I don’t actually have pictures of the stuff I like but hey ho this’ll do. It was a project entitled ‘Order and Disorder in the Natural World’ and it had to be abstract so this is where it lead me. The bottom one is my final piece with the two canvas extensions.
Without art, the crudeness of reality would make the world unbearable.

Another sculptor that really inspired me was Wim Delvoye. I saw his work as a complete fluke when I decide to go the Pushkin museum in Moscow. Somehow the curator had managed to integrate his work with the copies of Dipoenus, Scyllis, Polykleitos and the like, without making the contrast of ancient and modern art too great. I was blown away at the intricacy of his work and fluidity of his work, which will hopefully inspire me to create something of my own.
Starting with September I will be focusing on ceramics as my project in Art. I have started looking into things I would love to experiment with and here is an extraordinary ceramist: Jennifer McCurdy
