Hope
Hope is the light house guiding poor lost souls home. Hope is the childhood memories that we cling to so dearly. Hope is the dreams forever fulfilling our fantasies. Hope is the gift we give to those in need. Hope is the drug we take when we need a release. Hope is the motivation to take just one step forward. Hope is always there but we may not always recognize it.
Are we flying or falling through life?
The Illusion of Your Name
I try to use your name as my pill my release. But it only poisons me. With each breath, with each thought, of your name it slowly builds in my brain until the pressure explodes. I try to use your name as my life raft in my sea of desperation. But it anchors me instead of keeping me afloat. I try to use your name as the water that quenches my thirst. But its been disguised by my desire because its not the oasis I seek. Your name is what’s collecting in my throat. Slowly clogging and blocking my air until I’m not able to breath. When I say your name, I’m not able to breathe.
Frustration
I used to like watching the news But now all I see is violence. I used to like watching the news But now its filled with oppression. I used to like watching the news But now dead bodies bombard the screen. I used to like watching the news But now racial tensions build physical lines of separation. I used to like watching the news But now its hard to pick who to believe. I used to like watching the news But now I distrust the media as it exclusively chooses to ignore national issues. I used to like watching the news But now our national leaders blatantly discriminate against portions of our community. I used to like watching the news But now I only see kindergartners whining over who gets to declare war.
I used to like watching the news But now I just leave the tv off.
"Love is the poison to hatred"
Betrayal through Separation
When did us become me and you? When did we draw the line of separation? When did our group divide into two? Because I want to know. I want to know how we became complacent to the idea of difference and discarded unity. I want to know what became of the system we built as our foundation, our rock. I want to know where the trust fled to and when the fear grew in its place. I want to know what we did to foster this hate that burned through our relationship that I thought we had. I want to know, what’s next?
Unseen Trust
With this blindfold of faith please lead me the way. Our bond chained together, never unbroken. You always pull me forward, we never get to stay. Past the lovers left behind, all alone and forgotten. Take my hand in yours, wrap them in our trust. Along this unforeseen path, I am all yours.
The Resolution
I wake to the sound of silence The absence of my screaming The absence of your shouts The absence of my bed squeaking The absence o your moans. There are no violent rips of clothing No slimy lick of the tongue I am surrounded by my own loneliness. I am alone.
But I find solace in that because that means you are not here that my nightmare was not real.
I’ve moved on from that night. I’ve thrown out the mattress. I’ve thrown out the sheets. I’ve thrown out all remnants of you. I find solace in the absence of you.
It was a long and slow process. But I’ve decided to make my future shine and rid myself of your darkness. I’ve become my own light, leaving no shadows for you to dwell in. And for once, I feel safe.
