The wait is finally over! After almost two and a half years in development with more than 2.800 images and 180 script files edited, you can now experience the first ever, modern and completely overhauled user interface for Sims 2 across all expansion packs! Please note that because of this, you need every expansion pack and possible also Mansion & Garden stuff.

[TS2] Lot Lighting Fixes
This mod fixes a number of annoying lot lighting quirks, such as seams around the edges of the lot terrain* and lighting on snow.
Make sure you’ve fixed your Graphics Rules and enabled shaders, otherwise the mod won’t work.

Installation Instructions:
I’ve included different versions compatible with the same lot water mods as @dreadpirate’s Shader Fixes, and versions compatible with Shader Fixes if you don’t want the blue snow inside of the “DreadPirate Shader Fixes” folder.
Remove your lot water packages to avoid conflicts, and only pick one package.

SkyFix
The sun, the moon, stars or meteors can’t be seen properly on the sky while playing on a lot if Seasons, any newer expansion pack, or Mansion and Garden Stuff is installed. This mod fixes it. Additionally, it provides better support for displaying neighborhood skyboxes and horizons on lots.
This mod does not restore base game clouds but there is another mod which achieves that: the clouds controller made by Lowedeus. There’s also a global version of it made by Lazy Duchess – it makes clouds show automatically, without having to put a controller on a lot.
Updates 15 Apr 2017: Added a fixed version for Mac. The snow texture outside the lot borders doesn’t flash purple anymore. 7 Apr 2017: The previous version made terrain paints and floors on other lots invisible. It’s fixed in the SkyFix 2.1. 12 Mar 2017: Released the SkyFix 2 that makes it possible to create skyboxes that blend properly with edges of the visible terrain.
Choosing the right version
If you have an old version of this mod (simNopke-skyFix-### or simNopke-skyFix2-###), delete it first. Go to 2.
If you’re playing on Mac and have Super Collection or Bon Voyage installed, choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-EP6-Mac. If not, go to 3.
If you’re playing on PC and have Ultimate Collection, or at least one of the following packs installed: Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life, Mansion and Garden Stuff – choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-EP6. If not, go to 4.
If you have Seasons installed, choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-EP5. If not, go to 5.
If you have at least one of the following packs installed: Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, any stuff pack (except of M&G Stuff) – choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-EP2. If not, choose simNopke-skyFix2_1-base.
EP5, EP2 and base versions work fine on both PC and Mac.
Known bugs
None caused by this mod, but there is a bug you can’t see without the SkyFix in Seasons, a newer expansion pack, or M&G Stuff: double sun and double moon.

If you want to use one of those mods, use it instead of this mod – they have the SkyFix incorporated.
For creators of skyboxes
To create a properly layered neighborhood skybox compatible with the SkyFix, you have to use the following values for the stdMatLayer parameter in the material file of your skybox:
-6 – skies (solid)
-5 – something between the sky and the horizon, for example clouds
-4 – horizons
Unfortunately, Maxis sun, moon, stars and meteors won’t be covered by clouds or horizons.

Sim Shadow Fix
This mod fixes Sims’ shadows shown as black rectangles. Originally, correctly rendered Sims’ shadows have a blue tint. This mod makes the shadows achromatic. You may use this mod even if your game has no problems with rendering shadows.
Update (2 Jan 2016): Added the reallyNotMisty version. See the known bugs section.
The mod also works with The Sims: Life Stories, The Sims: Castaway Stories and The Sims: Pet Stories.
There are three versions which differ in the opaque (see the screenshot below) – choose only one.
Restoring shadows
You probably have turned (Sims’) shadows off, when a problem with black rectangles occurred. To make this mod useful you have to turn them back on. Here’s how to do it: In the game, set the Lighting setting in Graphics/Performance Options to high. If you still cannot see Sims’ shadows, in Graphics Rules.sgr (in [Latest EP/SP folder or basegame folder if you don’t have any EPs or SPs]\TSData\Res\Config) find option Shadows. This is what you’d see:

You have to delete boolProp simShadows false and boolProp simShadows off from userStartup.cheat (in Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 (or The Sims™ 2 Ultimate Collection)\Config) too, if this file exist and these lines are in it.
Known bugs
Sim shadows overlap and cut simetimes, but it isn’t caused by the mod.
If you have downloaded simNopke-simShadowFix0.# and Sims’ shadows in your game are misty, try out simNopke-simShadowFix0.#reallyNotMisty instead. That bug may occur on some Intel HD graphics cards.
