I had a quiet anxiety attack at work today. I hate the days that you wanna just crawl into a hole and die, but you can’t because you have to be the adult in the room. This is why I’ll never have kids.

The Other Day: I Met a Wizard
I was coming home from work and decided to stop by Freddie’s to pick up some supplies. When I came back to the train station, I had 7 minutes until my train would arrive. I sat down to finish my grande dirty chai and wait. A man in a blue (not navy blue) pin stripe suit, with a pink shirt and a bright purple bow tie glided towards my bench. He had tiny tortoise shell, coke-bottle glasses that sat on his nose perfectly. I could tell he twisted the end of his platinum white chin beard. The twirl looked impossibly perfect. He had a sort of pompadour hair-do that had a skyward curl at the top. All together, he was perfection.
He gently brushed my billowy skirt out of his way. Where I would usually be more polite and move it, I was distracted by how amazingly magical he looked. He sat down next to me with his brown briefcase by his feet. He crossed one long leg over the other and put his hands on his knee. “Are you a wizard?” I asked. He smiled. “I’ll take that.” He said.
“I was a compliment I promise. Are you from here?” “Me? I’m from a little of everywhere. I flew in from Kentucky this morning. I was bored out of my mind.” “What are you doing here in Portland?” I just had to know.
“I am going to a wedding. Can I catch the Green Line here? The one that goes to Clackamas?” “Yes. It’ll be here on this track in about 5 minutes.” I pointed to the arrival screen.
“Oh thank you,” he said. “I’ve not been in Portland for some time. My two best friends are getting married.” There was a pause here. He saw my skirt. “That’s an amazing skirt.” “Thank you, I made it.” I smiled. “You really do look like a wizard.” My train was pulling up now. “Thank you,” he said. I got on the train and I left.
