The sun hatched new every morning It cries out to me, it pities me, it kicks my ass It reminds me that my heart is beating It's cruel, it speaks in scorching truths Its presence is impossibly large People are solar powered I can tell you are filled with UV rays Your ability to wake me up and light my path is effortless Flower beds rejoice each morning You command your corner in the sky
Most days I don't even write when I feel the necessity to do so something in the back of my mind anchors my thoughts, my brain fills with hazy discouragement. Weekday nights inside a dive bar, it felt like any other night in a abandoned college town the jukebox inside the bar spit out coins like a boxers teeth 4 rounds in to the match after several hits to the jaw. The music playing in the background was a little too loud and indistinguishable yet it sounded familiar but was suffocated by the building chatter of all the patrons. You thought to yourself "this is like the score to my binge drinking episode" and then you snickered because you knew that the beer was talking for you.
when it rains the world spins a bit slower and my lungs can inhale longer deeper breathes breathe that cements your feet and lowers the speed limit a breathe of reflection that can bring home a prodigal son breathe that brings you back to your childhood
