Lost

       I have now officially finished Lost and I am not sure what to do with myself. This hands down was one of the best series I have ever watched and I wish I could have watched it when it was on with everyone else. However, I don't think I could possibly have waited week to week for new episodes.  Thinking back to when I was watching the first few episodes, I cannot believe how naive I was. I thought how many new characters could really be introduced, I could not have been more wrong. I also though the show could only end with either them get off the island or not, again, I could not have been more wrong. Now that it is over I am going to discuss my favourite moments/favourite features of Lost.

In no particular order

1. The relationships

                - What really kept me interested in this show was the relationships between the characters. I loved the way complete strangers became family and would have each other's backs despite their different beliefs and interests.

2. When Bernard and Rose meet back up.

                - Besides the fact they are not the most featured characters, I think anyone with half a heart would agree how adorable it was for these two to be reunited. Rose never gave up and I really enjoyed their little love story

  3. Desmond's character

                - Right from the beginning I really liked Desmond's character.  From my perspective he is the most random character yet the whole show revolves around him. I enjoyed the way his relationships with the other characters progressed and that be became one of them.

4. When Desmond names his son Charlie

                - This to me was another heart wrenching moment. Seeing as Desmond had tried to prolong Charlie's death and was there when he died, I think that made their friendship something special and I thought it was so sweet when he named his son after him.

5. Season three finale

                - This was one of my favourite episode(s). So much was going on. Sayid, Bernard and Jin all stay behind to blow up the Others when they come to the camp to try to steal the pregnant women. I love action scenes and the explosives were great. Despite Jin missing and Jack thinking he had them all killed, Hurley comes racing in on his jeep and everything works out. 

6.  Sawyer

                - Hands down my favourite character. Although he was a complete jerk at the beginning, he was always my favourite. Sawyer did not care what anyone thought and he had the best lines in this show. One of my favourites was when he calls Charlie "Jiminy Cricket" and Hurley "Jumbotron." I always was extremely amused by his question during the time shift when they see canoes and he asks "who brought these, other Other's?"

7. Sawyer hits Dan

                - Another Sawyer moment I know but it was too funny when he hits Dan and says "shut it ginger, or you are getting one too" to Charlotte.

8. The episode featuring Nikki and Paulo

                -This episode is all about perspective and I enjoyed seeing everything that has happened from a different perspective. It is  neat idea how it flashes back to a lot that you have already seen but you see if from Nikki and Paulo's perspective. This is similar to when you see the other group of people from flight 815 (Ana Lucia's group) and how things had been different for them.  Overall I think I just really loved the different storylines

9.  Guns

                - Any moment these people go running into the island with their guns and unlimited ammo is just great. I am partial to the idea of guns in television and movies and there is just something great about the way they raise their weapon when they think danger is near.

10. Character development

                -The character development in this show was unreal and one of the best features of the show. Jin for example starts out speaking no English and being very uptight and withdrawn from everyone else. Throughout the show I love the way his kindness and blue collar-ness appeared and what a key part of the group he was. Claire also had some great changes in character especially the craziness she embodied in the last season.

  11. Season six when they sneak away from Locke

                - Again, this has to do with how much I loved the group of them and how they worked together and looked out for each other

12. Juliet and Miles

                - These two characters both who were introduced later on in the series play odd but great characters. I love Juliet's dry humour especially when her and Sawyer meet up in the end and she says "maybe you should read the machine it's rights." I love how she became a member of the group. Miles also becomes a member of this group and his entrance into it is so unusual, coming from freighter. However both these characters really enhance the value of the show

13. "See you in another life brother"

                - This quote to me sums up the entire series. You hear Desmond say it several times and when Jack turns it around and says it to him in the finale, I got goose bumps!  I love how Desmond spoke that line and he was the one to gather the group and make them all realize and remember their relationships with each other in that alternative reality. For Jack to say that in his last moments and then to end the show that way, job well done

         I could probably list another 25 things I loved about lost but I won't. Hands down one of the best television series I have ever seen and despite the odd ending, after thinking about it, there was no other/better way to end it.

Lacking finales !

Oddly enough I have not posted much on here lately despite the fact we just finished season finale month. Not many finale’s really stood out to me. The 90210 series finale was not that good, the Criminal Mind’s finale was exciting but still did not give me much to think about. However and although I am a little behind with the times I am on season five of LOST and I have never loved a television show as much as that one and I am extremely excited (and sad) to be finishing the series soon because I have so much I want to say about that show. Anyways, if anyone has any television show suggestions I would love to hear them!

Pretty Little Liars Spring Finale

I found this to be an insanely chaotic episode! Maybe it was the fact when I first watched it live last night Much Music messed up and only half the episode played with sound. After watching it this morning, a lot more of it made sense, but it still left me confused as ever. Where do I even begin.

                Jenna is back! Toby is alive! I don't know who wins my vote for who I am least excited to see back, probably Toby. However, he is still with Spencer and her friends, which I guess is a good sign. On a side not, I thought Spencer looked totally gorgeous in the whole black hoody get up, but of course, Spencer is not really working for the A team which I think a lot of people probably suspected. I am so extremely confused by three things: Jenna and Shawna, Red Coat and how Ezra can be unbiased marking Aria's work.  Was that Jenna and Shawna who set the house on fire and hit Toby over the head? Is Ali in the red coat and WHY CAN'T EZRIA JUST WORK ITSELF OUT! I have not been the biggest fan of romantic relationships in this show but I love Ezria despite the fact it is probably the most disapproved unacceptable relationship on T.V. Also, what is the age difference there? Oh and if I were Emily, I do not think I would do my running at night, or alone.

                Back to the actual show, overall it was a good finale. My favourite part was probably when the girls cornered Mona and big bad Mona broke down and revealed that she doesn't know who Red Coat is and that she is not as big and bad as she appears to be. Again, was it Ali in the red coat or is this person wearing a mask? LASTLY WHO IS IN THE TRUNK!? My guesses are either Cece or Jason. Sorry this was so jumbled and unorganized, I am still confused.  Looking forward to the next season! Please follow and send messages if you would like to discuss! P.S. Do we know who killed Ali?

P.S S. (if that is even a real thing) EVERYONE GO SEE SPRING BREAKERS! It is an extremely refreshing movie. I was lucky enough to see it at TIFF last September and listen to the cast talk about it. It really is well done, different but the cast is amazing!

The Lying Game Spring Finale

First of all they better renew more episodes of this show or I will be extremely upset! Secondly, THAYER!?

I won't lie, I was a little disappointed with this episode. I heard that it was going to be the best episode yet, and to me, last week's episode was nine times better. I almost wish that had been the finale. Don't get me wrong, It was a good episode, but I expected more. I am loving the fact that more and more people are finding out about the twins, but almost from day one I just wanted Kristin to know and we were SO close to seeing that happen and then BAM Alec comes crashing through the roof. I did NOT expect that at all. I thought maybe one would fall off the building but not end up landing one someone's dinner table. I don't think he is dead, but we will see. As for Rebecca, I have no idea what on earth is going on with her or what is going to happen with her. She is one crazy lady. As for Thayer?!!! What the heck!? To me, Thayer is that kid that people generally ignore, but I guess they say watch out for the quiet ones. I cannot quite figure out why Thayer is involved. My only theory is he was trying to protect Emma by killing Derek and then protecting himself by killing Teresa. I just don't know.

My favourite part of this episode was when Emma was talking to Rebecca. I loved the emotion from both the characters but I loved the way Emma snapped back and really let Rebecca know she was never going to win mom of the year. And, last but not least, Emma and Ethan. Emma tells Ethan it is him she wants to be with, Ethan chooses family. Maybe I am extremely naive but THEY CAN WORK IT OUT! They are good for each other and I hope Sutton and Ethan do not end up back together! However, that was certainly not the last point, what the heck is up with Jordan and how is his storyline going to fit in with all of this? So many questions. Hopefully we do not need to wait as long as we did last time for the next part of the season. Thanks for reading and please leave comments and follow!

P.S. PRETTY LITTLE LIARS? SPENCER? More questions that will hopefully be answered during next week's finale. Is Spencer really on A's team or is she just doing this to gain information? Did Spencer accept Mona's offer long before now? Is Toby really dead or could it be Jason? What I believe is the most important question.....IS EZRIA OVER!?

The Lying Game - The Grave Truth

I only know one person who watches The Lying Game and she will not be caught up for a while and I NEED to express my absolute love for  this week's episode. I will start by saying that this is the first television show where I actually started the book series first, did not quite finish but the book is what got me interested in the show. Right from the beginning I knew this was going to be a similar addiction to Pretty Little Liars. You have juicy secrets, creepy and criminal tendencies and of course, cute boys!

                Tonight's episode, we find out Ted probably did not kill Derek or Teresa which we all already knew. However he FINALLY  learns that he has twins after the twins FINALLY learn Ted is their father. I am not going to lie, this scene ALMOST made me cry. It was extremely sweet and after many many episodes of this secret it was finally revealed. Laurel and Emma confirming they are related by blood was also a nice moment. I can also say, Alec, a character that was creepy as hell, sketchy and just not trustworthy has completely grown on me, minus the fact him and Kristin have this awkward flirty thing going on. Not a fan of her at all. Anyways, I LOVED the end of this episode, where they all go running around the club to the pool, and we see what I presume is Teresa lying face down in the pool.

                One part of the episode tripped me up however, which was why did no one decide to track Teresa's cell phone earlier on? Her boyfriend is a cop and the D.A. is involved yet, no one tracks her phone until Sutton mysteriously gets a call. Another question, who the heck was in the dark clothes that knocked over Mads? Are we crossing over into Pretty Little Liar territory here?

                 I loved the intensity of this episode, I could only imagine what is going to happen on the spring finale next week. I wish I knew more people who watched this show because all I want to do is gush about it right now. To end this, I just want to add that I think Alexandra Chando does an amazing job at playing both Sutton and Emma and I also believe Nina Dobrev is her doppelganger. I cannot wait for next week's episode and if anyone would like to express their love (or hate) for this episode, please do!

Gossip Girl

I am not really sure how I want to start this post, or where I want it to go. Maybe I will start off by saying six years ago when season one first aired, I was INLOVE with this show. I thought it was one of the best shows on television. I loved everything about that season, the characters, the storylines and fashion.  I loved how each moment never worked out for the characters. However from one season to the next it just went downhill for me, and apparently a lot of other people to. I continued to watch it because I was invested in these characters and wanted to see where they ended up. I found that each season's storylines were just too elaborate. I would catch myself thinking "SERIOUSLY? this is happening?" I loved how the first season it was about the characters and their relationships, it just got too much for me. However, I understand, there is only so much you can do with Dan and Serena's relationship and Chuck and Blair can only feud and hookup so many times. As for Nate, he could only get pushed around so much until you just gave up on him.

                I was always rooting for Dan and Serena, something about that relationship I liked. I liked how Serena was so popular but still so kind to a lot of people. As for Chuck and Blair, the first two seasons I liked their relationship. My favourite part was when Bart Bass died (the first time) and during the wedding of Blair's mom, Chuck showed up and the way he looked at her in so much pain really got to me. And, oddly enough, Nate, who really did nothing the entire season, always remained my favourite character. I don't know if it was his EXTREMELY good looks or the fact I always felt sorry for him but he was my favourite.

                As for the series finale, I did not have high hopes. At this point the show went from dramatic to almost humorous. What I really wanted to see (for dramatic purpose) was for Chuck to die. I was hoping that him and Blair would finally end up together and then he would die. Again I loved Chuck and Blair BUT it was a drama and the fact that the two of them did such terrible things this series, I thought it might be a good lesson to see that maybe love doesn't conquer all or that being a good person counts for something. I was also hoping that Dan and Serena would end up together for good and maybe Nate would finally find someone that the audience would like.

                Watching the finale the first time, it was okay. Nothing spectacular or that really stood out. However, I watched it a second time and although it was not mind blowing or amazing, I realized I liked the way it ended. The ever so dramatic fall of Bart Bass at least showed you cannot kill people to hide your dirty laundry and the fact that Chuck and Blair did end up together is nice. Probably the best part of that episode is right before the wedding when Jack Bass, Chuck, Dan and Nate come running down the stairs to the music. I found that to be quite funny. I also kind of loved the ending with Serena and Dan's wedding AND the fact that Chuck did not turn out like his father, and him and Blair have the cutest little boy. Nate appears to be single so I am a little excited about that. Lastly, Gossip Girl. After season 2 I gave up on caring who gossip girl was, she became a bit irrelevant, nonetheless I was excited to find out who she would finally be. I was going to be a bit upset if it turned out to be Serena or Chuck, someone who just would not make sense. I had my money on Nelly Yuki for a bit. When they finally revealed it was Dan. I was okay with that. It was a little creepy, I found it to be sneaky and deceiving but it made sense. I feel this was probably  a last minute decision, something they only decided this season but if you ignore a few details it makes sense.

                To conclude, I should probably proofread this but I won't since I have a billion things to do before work tonight. Overall I am glad this series ended while it still had a bit of dignity left in it, however I am going to miss new episodes every Monday night, watching what these crazy upper eastsiders are up to with their scandals. One final thing I should mention is the BEST part of this series is when all the main characters gather together to scheme. It is a bit ridiculous but I like the idea that as wild and insane as they all are, they have each other's backs! Good luck to the cast and I hope to see a Gossip Girl movie in the future!

Flashpoint

Five amazing seasons and this show has come to an end. There is so much I could say about this television show and why I personally believe it is one of the best shows that has ever been made. Of course this first point is a little biased; It is Canadian. As a Canadian it has been amazing to see a show with so many recognizable landmarks. The C.N tower Air Canada Centre and Tim Hortons, three distinguishable Canadian entities. I personally enjoy seeing those features because so much of what I watch is American content.

                This show has been one of the best for me because I love the actual content of the show. This show creates so much adrenaline, anxiety and uncertainly that a lot of other crime shows lack. They take a peaceful approach portraying the "subject" not as a monster but as a human being who has been faced with extraordinary circumstances. What I love most of all is the team. Team One.

                I am a sociology major so I love interaction and to me that is what made this show. All characters were so distinct and throughout the series remained very loyal to who they were and each other. You saw different personalities and different skills come together to create a unified team who could take on anything. I know this is fiction, but there is something comforting about watching a group of relatable people who can conquer anything. I love the relationships each individual had with one another and I love how they were portrayed as regular people. I do not want to comment too much on looks, but the actors in this show were not superstar studs which so many movie and television shows use. They looked like real people doing a real job. Lastly, I loved how you saw the affect the job had on each member of the team, whether that be an emotional/mental issue or a relationship/family issue.

                This finale I had nothing but the highest of expectations. To me, this show never had fillers, every episode stood out on its own as a great piece of work. I definitely thought the finale would blow every episode out of the water (pun intended) and it did. Nothing like watching a city you live forty-five minutes from in a state of complete fear. Watching your favourite characters try to take on a terrorist that . This also happened to be the first episode they straight out mentioned the city was Toronto.

                Anyways I don't want to spoil it for all you people who are not reading this but there are so many twists and turns it does not let you down. I can honestly say the theories I had going through my head were insane and every one of them did not happen. They mislead your every thought and that is what great television does. I knew no matter what I would not be disappointed and I am not.  I am extremely heartbroken that that is the last new episode of Flashpoint I will ever see but I would rather see the show end on the highest note possible than eventually just fade away.  I just want to write thank you to everyone who worked on Flashpoint and made it such a success and I truly wish them the best in their future. If anyone does read this and has not seen this show, please watch a few episodes and I GUARENTEE you, you will fall in love with it. I should probably proof read this before I post it but I am so excited that I am not going to!

I am going to use this blog as an opportunity to pour all of my television and life related thoughts to probably absolutely no one. As lame as it may sound, T.V. is one of my favourite past times. It has the ability to entertain, educate and get your mind off of your stressful day. It allows us to imagine ourselves in a different world, teach us about a different culture and fill our mind with useless nonsense. I absolutely love it and with the NHL lockout intrupting my life I have more time on my hands to channel my television show opinions into something that may be slightly more constructive.
