“You’re an excellent guesser,” she said, chuckling a bit before her face went grim again. Wendy wasn’t sure what it was about Darien that she trusted, but it seemed to be enough. Or she was just about to lose her mind and needed someone to know why. Either way she bit her lip and nodded her head, trying to keep her tears under control. “I can s-show you….But quickly. I just….I just want to get rid of it. I need it gone and I need to know things are going to be okay and that my family will be safe and it…” She stopped herself, wiping a few stray tears away with the sleeves of her shirt. “I’m sorry. I didn’t want to come off this way.”
He nodded slowly, brow furrowing deeper with worry the more nervous she got. And then she was crying? Darien had no idea what she’d gotten into or was forced into but it clearly wasn’t anything goo. “Okay,” he said, voice soft. “Whatever it is I can help you get rid of it. You don’t have to do this alone, Wendy.” He hesitantly reached and put a hand on hers as she wiped away tears. “You’re alright, Wendy. You don’t need to apologize to me.”
