Okay, well technically it was 19.8, but for all intensive purposes we’ll call it an even 20.
Happy runners getting ready to do a million miles. Shout out to Keegan, who wins the prize for most festive outfit
But I thought you said you were only going to do 18 this weekend?
WELL I WAS, and can you believe how shocked I must’ve been when I decided to run an addition 2 miles (fine, 1.8...ugh)? I figured, “eh, I’ve already come this far, might as well keep going” also I couldn’t wait to see the look of surprise on Deb’s face when I reached the finish line.
This week’s run was from Framingham to Copley, which Boyfriend Mark correctly pointed out is longer than his daily commute to work. To be fair, I don’t run to work everyday nor do I advise it (because that’s crazy. I’m looking at you, Marathon Chris).
So we all met at the Back Bay Commuter Rail station and took the Worcester line out to the Framingham stop. Big shout out to LEE WINER for picking me up in her brand new car and driving to the station!
Okay let me just say that taking a train to you destination really makes it seem a lot further than looking at the route on Da Googz. The intimidation was real. But we had some great dog friends as our team mascots to help us get through our run!
Look at these festive dogs. LOOK AT THEM!!
BUT. It was a great run for a couple reasons:
I had two breakfasts! Eggs on toast for breakfast number one, a delicious apple for breakfast number two on the train. I love apples, I eat probably 5 or 6 a week.
We had half of our team present! Doesn’t seem like much, but considering many of our team members live in far away places like Texas and D.C., 8 is a pretty good chunk.
Not only did we have a good amount of team members present, but we also had a super awesome support team! Thanks for the goop and the gatorade, you guys are the probably quite literally the reason I’m still alive.
This week’s support group, in order of appearance!
So I ran with my running buddy
, and we kept ourselves motivated to keep moving (no, Joe, I DO NOT want to sprint to the next intersection). And check these things out:
It actually tastes like a margarita, and oh man, I ate so many it felt like cinco de mayo in my mouth.
I survived off those Bloks for a few (four) hours. Will definitely be getting some for Marathon Monday.
So we ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran...all the way to Copley and what a great victory it was, for me personally. I was only intending to do 18, which would’ve been my highest mileage to date; but I pushed just a little bit more and made it to the finish to end it with my teammates and I may or may not have cried a little bit. Sorry everyone.
THEN I WENT HOME AND PUT SOME GREEN FOOD COLORING IN MY BEER.
I then proceeded to immediately fall asleep on the couch until dinner.
