The general had turned, fully intending on following through with his word, except that he blinked and drew up short as the other man rushed around him, something mako green eyes tracked before he… blinked at the paper. “… I see,” he murmured softly as he took in the information, comparing it to the paper he had stored in his brain, a reference that had become necessary since the war. “So it was not a mistake.”
He drew himself up slightly, flicking some of his hair out of the way. “Forgive me, I have not… resided with someone else in a long time.” Not since Genesis and Angeal, to be precise, and even in those times, once the war had ended, he had maintained his own quarters, finding it far too lonely quiet to stay with his friends if they were on a mission. “I am… Sephiroth.”
Link smiles a friendly smile at the white-haired man to show that there are no hard feelings. Sometimes misunderstandings and mistakes do happen, and it was better for Sephiroth to question if the room assignment was correct than if he were to assume it was and have it turn out he’s wrong. Not that the hero would’ve minded; he doesn’t mind company at all, and having a roommate is like having company most of the time.
Link holds the paper up again and points to the name at the top, showing Sephiroth that it is his name. He then nods his head, absorbing the other’s name into his memory, though he would be unlikely to repeat it. And finally he moves back to where he was seated originally, content that the misunderstanding was cleared up.
