Marching Band
If you are part of the marching band at school or have been part of a marching band at some point, then you will relate to this post.Â
Every section of the band has its reputation. Every section has its role in the band and every section is different.
Here are those sections:
Trumpets: narcissistic
Alto: the lazy bums
Flute: annoying, squealy girls
Trombones: pervs and/or clueless
Percussion: druggies, wannabe gangstas
Clarinets: menagerie of people
Low Reeds: stantly clueless
Mellophone: pretty laid back/chill
Color Guard: over dramatic with too much glitter hair spray; the people on the other side of the fence
Mandisa
Mandisa is one of my favorite Christian Contemporary singers. She has a gorgeous voice and writes amazing songs that show people that God is still with them, even in their darkest moments. Every day I hear at least one of her songs and it always makes my day better.
Mandisa’s career started when she was on the fifth season of American Idol (2006) and came in ninth place. She was 30 years-old at the time. In 2007 she came out with her first album, True Beauty. This album was created because of how Simon Cowell made fun of Mandisa’s weight and she wanted to inspire others and spread the word that everyone is beautiful and that the do not have to look like the models in the magazines. Her songs have helped me get through my self-esteem issues because I know someone else understands what it is like to deal with being overweight and that God is with me no matter what.
Even though I have never met Mandisa, she has changed my life. Her songs inspire me every day and really help remind me that I am never alone. If you are going through a rough time, I suggest listening to some of Mandisa’s songs. Especially the song “Overcomer”.

Pentatonix by Kay Jay
Hey y’all! Welcome back! Please tell me you know who Pentatonix is! If you do not know them, you need to get on youtube and look them up. They are an a capella group that adds harmonies and groovy beats to popular songs. They also write they own songs. There are five people in this group: Scott Hoying (22), Kirstie Maldonado (21) and Mitch Grassi (21), vocal bass Avi Kaplan (24) and beatboxer Kevin “K.O.” Olusola (25). These guys came together to perform on the TV show “The Sing-Off”, and have been performing together every since.
A friend of mine showed me a video of them a few months ago, and I have been obsessed with them ever since. Their vocals are spot on and their harmonies are perfect! Every time I listen to them, I get goosebumps. It is hard to believe that people could have such great voices. My favorite song cover that they did is “Little Drummer Boy.” You get a chance to hear all of their voices and you realize just how talented they really are. Not only does Kevin beatbox, but he also sings in this song! He can also play the cello!
If you want anymore information on them, go to their website: http://ptxofficial.com/
Also look them up on YouTube and buy their CDs. You will love them!
Have the best week possible and come visit me next week!
Because I'm happy, Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof. -Pharrell Williams
So this quote makes less sense than pre-calculus. What in the world does a room without a roof feel like?! I have yet to meet someone that understands what that means. However, the quote is perfect to describe my week. I had less homework and soccer practices were relatively laid-back, which made me as stress-free as a child. And stress-free me=crazy happy and energetic me!! I love it when I have energy and my friends say I’m a great comedian when I’m energetic. And one of my favorite things is making people laugh.
Here’s a great joke for you: So this guy is taking his girlfriend to the high school prom. And he's got a lot of work to do. First he has to rent a tux, so he goes to the tuxedo store. But there's a huge tuxedo line at the store. Finally he gets out of there and realizes he has to go buy a corsage, so he goes to a florist. But there's this big long corsage line at the florist. Finally he gets the corsage and has his tux and he's gotta go rent a limo. But there's this huge line when he gets to the limo place. Finally after waiting and making all the arrangements, it's the night of the prom. He picks her up and takes her down there to get in, but there's this huge ticket line at the door. Finally they get in and they start dancing and having fun, and she says to him, "I'm hungry," so he goes to get her some food, but there's this huge buffet line. He gets her some food and they eat and they're dancing again and she says, "Now I'm thirsty, can you get me a drink?" So he goes to get her a drink and there's no punchline.
Ok so that’s slightly corny, but hey, I do live in Nebraska. Sorry couldn't resist! Here's a deep dark secret for you... Ready? I can never resist cracking a joke or sarcastic comment which sometimes gets me into trouble. For example, when a girl is having relationship problems, do NOT, I repeat, do NOT try to make a joke. It ends badly; don't ask how I know that... Let's just say the handprint stayed on my face for the rest of the class. Just kidding, I didn't get slapped but it was a scary situation. See, girls are like volcanos. For the most part they are just normal mountains but once in a while they get very worked up and explode, taking out cities, trees, and poor animals who are slow, like Bambi's mom. Yes, spoiler alert, she dies because deer are not faster than bullets. Anyways back to the point, at least I think the point... Being happy and not stressed out is great and makes you feel like a room without a roof. By the way if you figure out what that means, let me know ASAP.
I expect you all to check back in next week for more randomness and hopefully entertainment. Ta ta for now!

National Testing Week... aka the week before break.
Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising up every time we fail.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
If you're trying to achieve, there will be roadblocks. I've had them; everybody has had them. But obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it.
-Michael Jordan
The week before break is always filled with tests, and this year soccer tryouts were at the same time. One thing I’ve always been told by my parents is “do your best and leave the rest up to God.” If you always give your best, in school and athletics, it’s easier to accept failures because you know it’s not due to your own faults. It’s also easier to jump back up from failures and as Mr. Emerson implied, we are considered more successful if we overcome failures. Tying in to that idea, the theme for the soccer program this year is “Unstoppable: We are the only ones who can prevent us from reaching our full potential.” During our season, we are going to hammer home the idea of always giving 110%, not being afraid of mistakes, and maxing out each individual game, practice, and drill to reach our potentials. That’s why Emerson’s quote stuck out to me so much. Those that have the strength to fall down and get back up are way more memorable and glorious than those that just never fall. Everybody remembers when the underdog wins a championship, but those with undefeated seasons go (for the most part) unnoticed. One important thing to remember is that failing doesn’t mean you’re terrible; it just means that you are willing to take risks and try new things. My coach often says that “the best players make the most mistakes.” That doesn’t mean go out and purposely answer all the test questions wrong or intentionally make bad passes. My coach pushes us to take risks so that we can learn and improve ourselves. However, to take risks, your team has to support you and forgive you if you do mess up, which is hard sometimes because we as humans are so competitive. But winning isn’t everything; developing good character, having fun, and being the best you can be is more important. It’s with those things in mind that a team can reach it’s potential and be able to spring back from mistakes.
Let these words inspire you to take risks and not be afraid of mistakes. Tune in again next week for whatever this week has in store for me.

Meet the Comedians
Hey y'all, this is Nat-tastic, your friendly blogger. I'm a soccer player and a musician. This blog tells the story of Kay Jay and me and our circus lives through both famous quotes and our own. This blog is not going to be perfect, but we hope that you will be able to learn something, have a laugh, or just know that someone else's life isn't perfect.
Hey guys! Let me introduce myself. I am Kay Jay and music is my life! I am in band and orchestra and am a big time bowler. In band I am in the drum line and in orchestra I play the viola. I will be posting music quotes, lyrics, and videos and will talk about their meanings. Hope you enjoy this blog!
