Okay but can we talk about how Ethan ended up with his ex boyfriend’s best friend who is also his dead brother’s ex girlfriend’s ex boyfriend? Because what a legend omfg
@jollynephilim gets a starter <3
Ethan hadn’t been in town long before he heard about the hiker killed by wild animals. ‘Wild animals’ the police said, despite the man having been torn to shreds and left in the middle of a heavily traveled path. Ethan wasn’t a local. He had no friends, no TV, no access to radio, so it took him a few days before he heard the news. As soon as he heard, Ethan dropped everything and ran. But by then it was too late. The town was practically swarming with hunters and it wasn’t long before one tracked him down.
Cornered outside the motel room Ethan had acquired, fangs and claws made an appearance as Ethan snarled a warning. Glowing blue eyes sought out the man in the dark... or teen. They couldn’t have been much older than Ethan. Yet they were a hunter? Then again, Allison hadn’t been much older either and she had still been terrifyingly accurate with a bow.
“BACK OFF!” Ethan took a threatening step forward. “The walls are thin. If you try anything, someone will hear.”
I love Ethan so much you guys

❝ Good. ❞ She responds brightly, forcing a smile that she hopes will dissolve the tension somewhat.❝ Because I didn’t wear my ass-kicking boots and I would’ve hated to ruin these. ❞ As soon as she says it though, she knows it falls flat. Just like every other nervous ramble does. Her smile faces somewhat and she clears her throat, glancing over his shoulder, half expecting to see a pack looming in the distance. But again, there’s nothing.❝ Look I’m not a threat to you, okay? Just as long as you don’t turn into a giant dog and try to turn me into a chew toy, we’re good. ❞
He was surprised to realize that she reminded him of Lydia: a blonder, taller, happier version of his old friend, but the similarities were still there. Instinct and fear born anxiety were not always easy for Ethan to differentiate between but it was that innocent comparison that allowed Ethan to finally lower his guard and consider her words for what they were. The truth. “A wolf, not a dog.” Ethan chose not to correct the girl on her assumption that he could complete his shift. Perhaps it was safer if she believed otherwise. “... I’m Ethan.”
One day someone will make a gifset of the alpha pvck with everyone black/white and ethan the only one in color because he’s the only one left, and I will sob for years

Packs. The word almost threw her for a loop. Mainly because the only pack she’d ever come into contact with had been Jules, and that hadn’t ended well. For the most part, the only wolves in and out of Mystic Falls had quickly been turned to hybrids. And that was a different thing entirely. But vampires traveling in packs? She nearly laughed.❝ No. No packs. Friends — yes, but packs? No. ❞ Caroline eyed him for a few seconds, noting the way that his eyes kept darting around, how his posture was still stiff. Almost like he was waiting for her to attack him.❝ And even when we do travel in groups, we tend to try and keep a low profile. Most of us, anyway. — But I came alone. You’re not in danger, or anything. ❞
Friends. Instinctively, dark brown eyes scanned his surroundings again, trying to find something he hadn’t seen the third, fourth, fifth time Ethan had looked before. But there was no one there and the scents on the breeze were faint. Ethan didn’t relax, yet the haunted hunted look in his eyes faded to something more civil: interest. “I’m always in danger.” He wouldn’t admit that he was alone. It was better for Ethan if others believed he had a pack. Safety in numbers. But he couldn’t help contesting her claim of safety. There was no such thing for him. “I was just passing through. I’m not here to cause trouble.”

Callum watched the other wolf dash away with amazement. Apparently their wolves reacted much stronger to each other than their human halves —— a fact Callum became aware of when he found himself snarling and baring his teeth after the little on took of with a piece of meat between his fangs. Instinctively he put a paw on the rest of the cadaver as if he wanted to cue the other wolf that another bite out of this was off limits. For a while he simply enjoyed his meal, filling his belly to a point where he would probably feel nauseated and sick but since this was the first time in months they dropped this much food into the enclosure, he wouldn’t be picky.
When only a few pieces of meat were left, Callum grabbed one of the bigger bones and started chewing on it. God, how long since he got actual bones with marrow in it? Despite him not wanting to do it, he started panting and whimpering happily as he gnawed away on the bone. They need us for something. And it has definitely something to do with watching us. Callum lifted his head for a second and nodded at the wall behind them. This is glass. They look at us from different angles but it’s hard to see past the glass, he explained while he licked over the bone.
Distantly he was aware of the presence above them; a scrutinizing gaze from many eyes. Slowly Callum lifted his head, narrowed his eyes and growled deeply in the general direction of their jailers. I don’t know if they want us to rip out each other’s throats or get along. At least the first option would answer your question, why they didn’t kill you. He lowered his head again and huffed out a breath that sounded like wolf equivalent of a laugh.
That guy over there is new, Callum stated as he got a glimpse of the young man with the rolled up sleeves. He looked… eager and excited, like a man with a purpose and a set goal. He smells like trouble.
Ethan’s attention was divided between his focus on Callum and his observation of the walls the other wolf had pointed out. Two way glass, or a one way mirror. Ethan couldn’t remember what it was called exactly but the principle was the same. The humans could see them, but Ethan and the alpha could not see out.
His gaze flicked sideways at the other wolf’s mention of one of their captors and Ethan quickly sought out the newcomer. Most were new to Ethan but he obediently followed Callum’s gaze to a man with rolled up sleeves and froze. The sound Ethan made wasn’t human, but it wasn’t animalistic either. The man’s gaze was instantly drawn toward the cry and Ethan flinched, fleeing into the alpha’s territory with his tail between his legs and ears flat against the top of his head. He didn’t pause to consider the danger his invasion might cause. The only thought in Ethan’s mind was; HIDE.
An overgrown bush a scant five feet away from the alpha was where Ethan fled, pressing himself into the earth until the man’s view of him was completely obscured by low hanging branches. Later, Ethan would berate himself for showing such weakness before their enemy and before the alpha. It wasn’t entirely his fault. Ethan was used to relying on fight or flight to survive, and since “fight” was rarely an option for a lone beta, he had made a habit of the later. But his fear now was well justified. I recognize that one. The fur along his spine lifted in response to his fear. He is the one that captured me. I was in human form. He did not hold back. In fact, the other had seemed to take delight in Ethan’s terror and pain. The wolf dug claws into the earth as though expecting it to suddenly become the electrified bars of his cage. He is dangerous.

It’s obvious that Ethan can barely even keep himself partially human. Stiles had experience with werewolves struggling with inner turmoil, thanks to Scott being turned against his will. Alongside his best friend, Stiles had to learn the tricks and trade of werewolf-kind in order to know how to guide his friend as well as protect himself. The twin was just barely holding on to whatever ounce of humanity he had left – and that was enough. He can work with this. He’s just got to figure out what kind of emotion strikes a chord with Ethan’s human side more so than his werewolf side. Stepping a little closer, Stiles keeps his cautionary distance and poise while also offering counseling. “ Yeah, ah, I’d prefer to not get mauled. ” The snide response couldn’t be helped, but there was a possibility that irritation or anger could be linked to anchoring. It was for Derek, at least. That’s how he tried to teach Scott. “ Everyone’s got an anchor, right ? ” He asks, studying the alpha’s terrorized expression and the fear underlying his defined features. Something’s telling him the fear isn’t just for himself – that it was for Stiles, too. And right now the sarcastic brunet was putting a lot more faith in Ethan’s ability to keep himself from completely shifting than would be wise. “ Find your anchor. Anything, just … focus. Find control. ” He knows words aren’t probably helping, but maybe it’s the smallest & annoying push in the right direction for him. There’s no telling.
Grass was pulled up by its roots as Ethan clawed at the earth, pitching himself forward to rest his forehead against the ground and catch his breath. Perhaps it was best Stiles was the one here and not someone else. Had it been another werewolf, Ethan was certain he would have already lost control. The instinct to protect himself against his own kind would have won out over any calming words they might have spoken.
“Easy for you... to say. You’ve never done this.” Being snarky back at Stiles couldn’t possibly be helping, but talking in general, however broken it may have been, made Ethan feel human. He supposed it made sense. Stiles was just so utterly... human, it filled his every movement, every thought, from the hand-gestures to the exaggerated changes in tone. Now though, Stiles seemed deadly serious. It was unnerving. “My anchor. It’s... it was A––” he choked on the name. “It’s gone.” Muscles in his back seized as Ethan shuddered through another tremor, his chest heaving with effort to draw in enough air to fill his lungs. When the tremor passed, Ethan’s arms buckled at the elbows and spilled him onto the earth. He had to fight to push himself upright again and when he managed it, Ethan was shaking. “Tell me something.” Ethan stared resolutely down at the torn ground beneath him, focusing his effort on catching his breath rather than meeting Stiles’ gaze. “Knowing what you know now, if you had a choice, would you take the bite?”
