Hey Hydra. @hydradesigngrp
Cover for Settings Magazine a recently launched interiors magazine by Dimensione.
I'll be talking about "WORK" for Creative Mornings Makati this Friday, November 27 830am at A Space Manila. You can register for the talk at http://creativemornings.com/cities/mkt Kitakits. I'll be talking about my work (obviously) and a bunch of other work related stuff that I haven't talked about before as well. :)
Thank you CNN Philippines for the feature. Dyahe lang ako sa "Artist" label. Hahaha. :) Yey! Also #upfight
An illustration for the cover of net.mag
My favorite part of illustration work is making the sketches. These are old sketches for the Formula E posters, Magazine covers, and editorial illustrations. :)
Just got this from my email a few minutes ago. I'm so happy. The CS students of UP converted the handset Maroons Sans into actual ttfs. :) This is just the first version and it looks awesome as it is. Wohoo! Salamat! Salamat din Sir Siao for facilitating this. :) #upfight (at Plus63)
Our neon-powered callcards at @plus63designco are finally here. Thanks for bringing it over @aqb4. Printing by the awesome Paypress. :)
#UPFIGHT! Let's Go UP. :) The Fighting Maroons Design Team. Huhu. Wala kayo @ajdimarucot @ralphguibs and @mandyrek
I designed the cover of LUNOP: Haiyan Voices and Images, a book of Poetry, Photographs and Narratives by Haiyan (Yolanda) Ground Zero Survivors. I'm really happy how this turned out. To be honest, I was just lucky there was a really good photograph of a circular banig from Basey, Samar. I just made it monochromatic and tweaked some things. The front side shows the "storm" while the backside the "sun" by inverting the colors. The book is going to be launched soon.
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Design Program is a modernist vision for an optimistic future. The logo (often referred to as "the worm") evokes qualities of unity, technical precision, scientific capabilities and uniqueness. Reduced to its simplest form; the one width, continuous-stroke letters are as contemporary today as when the logo was first introduced by partners, Richard Danne and Bruce Blackburn of Danne & Blackburn (New York, NY) more than 37 years ago. UP Fighting Maroons
Here's the whole brand identity family for the UP Fighting Maroons. Branding for athletic teams is bit different because there are various applications to think of.
A group of UP Alumni who helps the UP athletic teams approached the studio to work on the new brand identity of the UP Fighting Maroons. We accepted it even if it was a pro bono (free) project because we wanted to support the University. We asked UP to give us a design brief, once we got the brief we started working on it right away. We had about a week and a half to work on this.
Sifting through all the comments and suggestions from students and alumni, the team realized that the raised fist represents the UP Fighting Maroons. It best represents the “palaban” nature of The Fighting Maroons. It’s also a logo that works well within the competitive and assertive nature of the games. Even if the Oblation is not part of the logo, we wanted to include it in the identity system. We incorporated the Oblation in all the varsity team uniforms, so that each member of the team remembers this. It builds internal cohesion and strengthens identity as part of a community.
We will be posting more stuff about this project once everything’s produced and printed.
FIA Formula E Championship 2014-2015
I worked on the the illustrations for the Qualcomm Posters of the FIA Formula E Championship 2014-2015. The design direction was to use the country’s flag as the starting point for each poster. The flag elements are present in every layout without being too obvious. Part of the requirement was to show the Formula E car, the different patent diagrams Qualcomm owns, and the landmarks & symbols that represent the city. Agency: Knock Twice Art Director: M. Wadler Client: Qualcomm
Ash, Andrew and I talked about a lot of things not related to design & illustration. Hahahaha. :) If you have time (and I hope you do), kindly listen to The Collective Podcast. :) Yey! http://thecollectivepodcast.com/107
Formula E motors into Moscow on Saturday, June 6th. If you can’t make the event in person, catch the ninth round on FoxSports 1 or stream it online. Learn more about the series at fiaformulae.com.
The most recent illustration I made for the Formula E Championship. :)
Pili Pin Us (Pilipinas)
Pinterest asked me to do a Philippine specific set of images for their Philippine campaign app launch. This was something personal for me obviously, being that I'm from the Philippines. The set of images I made. 1st Image: Jeepney 2nd Set: From L-R T-B: Philippine Flag, Boxing Gloves (with a cropped Pacquia label), Sago't Gulaman, Batibot Chair, Terno, Dirty Ice Cream, Carabao, Pintado, Buntings (Fiesta), Street Food: Isaw, Fishballs, Betamax, Balut & Snorkeling
One of the earlier prototypes for the Adobo Design Awards trophy that we designed at Plus63 Design Co . Hopefully, the one next year will be a bit better. It's slashed in half because the clear part can be replaced by diff materials every year. :) the "metal" part remains the same.
