You are Spoon.

Spoon is a good boy. You are a good boy. You know this because Wei tells you this all the time - sometimes he says it out loud, sometimes he says it with his body. You don’t need him to say it because you know he’s always saying it in his heart.

But you like hearing it anyway.

Now you get to run, run, run and nobody’s telling you that you have to anymore. You do it just because you want to. Just because it makes you happy.

Happy is good. Today you are happy, because you are loved and you love Wei and you have so many friends you just want to share all the happiness with the people you love.

Sometimes Wei is sad and hurts and you try to lick away the pain; there aren’t always wounds but you lick anyway. Maybe if you lick hard enough you can lick the wounds inside. You can smell the hurt, hear his heart racing like it’s being chased without the choice of stopping.

When you cuddle up on him and lick his face, his heart slows down again. He knows he doesn’t have to run away because of others anymore, he can just be slow and lazy with on the couch, watching TV together. He’s done so much for you, that’s why he deserves to have just as much happiness too.

So you run and jump and chase your tail, you nibble his shoelaces and lick his face even when he groans and scolds you. You bring him your favourite toys covered in your doggy kisses and drop them willingly in his lap. Because you know it makes him feel a little better watching you. You know he loses that tension he holds so deeply in his muscles, like he always has to be hyperaware of any threats even when there’s nothing there - you would know if there were, you always watch over him when you’re around. Anyone wanting to hurt him would have to go through you, and you’d fight to the death for this man who gave you a life.

He thinks he doesn’t need anyone but he’s still lonely. You try your best but, well…there’s some things only another human can give him. So you run up to strangers and dance around them, get Wei to apologise for you and start chatting. Only the nice people, of course, you can always sniff them out - and it helps when they give you pets and treats~

You may just be a dog but that’s never stopped you from being the very bestest dog you can be.

Detective Wardrobe Tag!!!

Fashion can reveal a lot about a characters taste in colours, designs, and practicality. Show me what your Detective wears to work, at night, fancy evening wear, and when on missions.

Work Wear - Casual/Daily

depends on the weather (and also on the fact that Aryan gets cold wayyy too quick) - simple t-shirt with shorts in summer (they may or may not throw a printed shirt over their clothes) and a pullover, thick pants and coat in winter

Aryan doesn't usually wear bright colors - their wardrobe consists of muted shades of browns/grays/blacks

Night Wear

soft colors which are easy on the eyes. pajama shorts with matching t-shirts (often having silly cartoons, f loves these)

Fancy Evening Wear

Aryan loves showing off their legs and would usually wear a cute mini dress (bonus points if sparkly). if they have to wear a long dress, they choose one with a side slit

though i suppose if they were in a more formal setting, they'd rock a sherwani (again in muted shades - cream/brown). will add a matching scarf if cold (like in the second pic)

On Missions

clothing which gives allows movement - simple t-shirt tucked in high waisted jeans. will keep a jacket handy as always incase they get cold (usually one with many pockets)

@queerspeculativefiction says Sidestep/the MC is really good at copying people. I’ve been thinking about the implications of that.

My first thought is Impressions! 

Sidestep being able to do accurate and inaccurate impressions of people down to the way their victim speaks. I could see my Steps doing obnoxious impressions of Steel and Ortega. Walk up behind them and finish a sentence with the same tone and expression then give them a shit eating grin.

Would Sidestep learn best by watching? I could them being the type of person to learn life skills and from YouTube. And Oretga. 

If so how would they be with verbal instruction when they can’t read a mind? Would it go in one ear and out the other or would they get it?

I could see Sidestep/the MC being a very fast learner. To the point where it’s almost creepy and they have fake mistakes so they can pretend to learn slower.

I could also see baby newly freed Sidestep having a problem with habitually copying people around them. Sidestep having to stop themselves from copying their friends’ body language. Having to consciously invent their own so they don’t copy the movement of the crowd. 

Also Sidestep picking up slang and expressions from the Rangers and other friends they meet. Which could backfire on them.

It’s 1913, and two years ago you got caught and sentenced to be an agent of the East Rhodagna Agency’s monstrous investigations division. You work off your parole, travel the country, and try to solve cases before they kill you. Or before the fevers get to you.

Your latest mystery is plagued with lies, inexplainable phenomena, and a darkness that seems to like the way you taste. Why has the thing in the dark targeted you? What is it? And do you deserve it?

→ Character Customization

In S&V you get to play as a monster, choosing between three separate species, with their own unique backgrounds, abilities, and connections. Play as the fire-spitting hellhound, the four-armed basilisk, or the nebulous core of a living porcelain doll.

Customize your character’s room, sub-species, clothing, and their glamoured alter-ego. You get to choose between all kinds of romantic and sexual pasts, including aromantic, asexual, sex comfortable ace, as well as a character with a promiscuous past, or one not at all.

And several other customizations! Like height, vices, and the crime you allegedly committed!

→ Personality

As you play, your choices will change your character’s personality and their relationship with others. There are eight personality traits that operate independently of each other. Meaning, you can be a bit of all of them. Each trait will have a different flavor, creating a unique experience with every playthrough.

You can be: Aggressive, Benevolent, Charming, Cruel, Diplomatic, Emotional, Shy, Stoic, or a mix of all of the above!

Your choices will also change your friendship and romance with characters, as well as your amiability vs. rivalry with them.

→ Rivalry & Failure

Rivalry is not a negative thing in this game! Neither is failure! Both are designed to introduce other roleplaying elements, instead of punishing players for not min-maxing their stats.

Rivalry: A relationship with high rivalry means your relationship is one that challenges one another, to be better, different, or to question their status quo. A character with whom you have a high rivalry with does not mean you don’t get along, merely that you communicate or value things differently from one another.

Failure is a choice, and one that won’t ruin the game for you, kill your character, or otherwise make you want to give up. The game is designed to encourage natural character choices instead of min-maxing stats. Stats are still important, if success is what you’re after, but failure is still an option, one that opens up all different kinds of roleplay avenues.

→ The Cast

There are four romance options, as well as three polyamorous routes. Three of the ROs can have their gender chosen by the player, while the fourth is an AMAB trans-woman.

Romance your partner and handler, a studious, if forgetful, medic and apprentice witch.

Take a flirt with your monstrous counterpart, a unicorn with sarcasm and wit aplenty. Watch out for the hooves.

Fall for your combat expert, who is more humor and theatrics than any kind of caution.

Or take a turn with your terribly shy but earnest harpy attendant. Feathers and all.
