These posts are all sisters to me
@strawberrysaur accurate?
i don’t think you can comprehend just how accurate the first one is
weeks 21-28 on my weekly poster challenge this year. Unfortunately I was only able to hit 28 out of 52 this year, so I know at least one goal for 2026.
1-10 here. 11-20 here.
The Emperor and Ansur could have been perfect foils for Wyll's story.
Ansur, the Heart of the Gate, who stayed behind to protect the city. The Emperor, a hero, who left for just one more grand adventure. Ansur, who clung so tightly to what he believed to be right that it destroyed the thing he cared most about. The Emperor, who clung to newfound power until he could not imagine being anything else, even at the cost of his own soul.
You can see the parallels, right? Ansur's quest could have meant something important to Wyll's storyline.
But instead it doesn't. Wyll's writer never capitalizes on these parallels. Ansur doesn't even speak with the player or Wyll, only with the Emperor. And once Ansur is defeated, the Emperor tells Wyll that he's the actual Heart of Gate and Ansur totally wasn't important, dude, just get over it. And then Wyll—who had hung his hopes on having the Wyrm's help against the Absolute, who has repeatedly said the Emperor is not to be trusted, who has every reason to be not accept that shallow of an answer—swallows this bullshit without question and skips off to pick out his new hero name.

So horny for grey wardens like the concept of grey wardens. My brain is collapsing in on itself like a dying star.
You drink poison to fight poison you do what needs to be done and you aren't even remembered for it. Your sacrifice means nothing and it means everything. Grey Wardens inspire you and make you better than you are and becoming one is literally a death sentence. An order for murderers, repentant and not, and society's unwanted, the people who never had a chance and the people who had a chance and wasted it. It can be punishment or liberation, a prison or a way out of one. I'm going to be ill.

Shelter staff were openly abusive including the armed security guard who loves picking fights and screaming at people.
May also include:
Refused to hand over medicines to be distributed by shelter staff
Refused to be separated from their child/ren
Shelter has a curfew that is incompatible with their job
Shelter does not have accommodations for their disability
Shelter requires attendance of religious services - possibly including open participation in them
Shelter does not have food that meets their dietary requirements and will not allow them to prepare their own food
Shelter is a hotbed of disease
Shelter does not prevent sexual abuse, from either other residents or staff or both
Shelter demands payment - it's free if you have no income, but if you have Social Security or job payments, they demand some of that
Shelter has limited beds and you need to be in line by 4pm for when the doors open at 7 to get a chance at one of them.
Nobody wants to be living in a tent under an underpass. If someone's choosing that over a "shelter," there is something wrong with the shelter.
Had to be me. Someone else might've gotten it wrong.
