What's got you so cranky? Let me eat in peace.
She stared at him for a few seconds with a hint of a smile. “what good sense you have, big bad wolf.”
He smiles, tucking his hands into the pockets of his robes, "I guess. Besides, I'm pretty sure I have one somewhere in my trunk. You an go ahead and have this one."
Constant vigilance, Ted, that’s the key.
Ah, well, I suppose I can handle one more year of your jokes, Sirius.
She’s felt eyes on her, and though she doesn’t mind the attention, Narcissa has never let anyone gaze without her permission. She spins on her heel, a perfected smile slapped on her face. “It isn’t polite to stare. Didn’t your parents ever teach you manners?”
Ted arched an eyebrow, not really in the mood to deal with a snobby fifth year. He took a breath, exhaling slowly, "I wasn't staring at you. I was just gazing off at nothing and you happened to step in my way."
Andromeda sat in the library, her book on the advanced Charms open beside her. She rubbed her eyes wearily and rose from her chair. As she went to turn around, she felt her body collide with another and was immediately aware of the slight pain in her shoulder. “Ow.” She muttered, her hand impulsively coming to rest on her shoulder. Turning to the person who has ran into her, Andromeda felt her temper start to flare. “Watch where you’re going next time.”
Ted did not consider himself a clumsy person. But, that was subject to change seeing how he'd run into nearly five people in the last hour. In fact, he was starting to think that perhaps someone had cast a jinx on him, forcing him to run into nearly every person that he encountered. He was hurrying to the back of the library to put back a book he'd been reading. Thinking back, Ted would realize that it would have been a good idea to walk slower instead of the speed he'd been going. Before he could reach the shelf, he crashed into another person who'd been rising from the chair.
Immediately, "Oh shit sorry!"
Upon further studying, he realized it was Andromeda and he quickly put a hand on her shoulder, where he had hit the hardest, "I'm sorry! Damn, I wasn't paying attention... Are you alright?"
Bella lingered in the hallway, not so eager to make it to her next lesson. In fact, she was planning on skipping it altogether. It wouldn’t make an enormous difference, seeing as she had one of the highest marks in the class. Surely a walk around the lake or a nap was a better idea. Or perhaps a trip to the restricted section in the library for some light reading. One must always be prepared after all. It was then she caught someone staring her way.
“Can I help you?”
Ted was a very hard worker when it came to his schoolwork. He was quick to finish his homework early, leaving time to check it over to make sure he received full marks. He was also the type of student to spend days studying for one quiz. But, it being so early in the school year, he didn't really have much to do. Thus, Ted was wandering about through the halls, his Herbology textbook tucked under his arm. One would think that being a Hufflepuff and all, he'd have excellent Herbology marks, but it was actually one of the classes that he actually struggled in. And seeing as how he had a free period, he chose to spend it reading over tomorrow's lesson in hopes to get a fresh start. Finding a bench that looked relatively comfy, Ted sat down, opening his book to read the chapter.
He was about halfway through when he looked up at the sound of footsteps. He frowned at the intrusion, rather content in his solitude. His frown deepened even further when he realized that it was Bellatrix Black. He sighed and closed the book. No doubt she would choose to taunt him. When she looked his way, he lifted his hands up in surrender.
"No, sorry, I didn't mean to stare."
He looked back down at his closed textbook, "I'm just doing some studying, that's all, and I was surprised to see someone else here."
You could have owled me. We would’ve played quidditch a great deal and I think you’d have been all the rage at the pureblood parties.
Oh yes, a muggleborn Hufflepuff would have been a hit at Pureblood parties, I'm sure.
------ I didn't really want to bother anyone over break. I figured everyone had their own stuff to do and what not. But... now that we're at school, I'm sure we can still play Quidditch quite a bit, at least before season starts.
"If you buy the last Cauldron Cake, I will hex you the second we step off this train. Is it really worth it?"
[ Ted holds his hands up, taking a careful step away from the trolley ] The last Cauldron Cake is yours, don't worry.
Hardly at all.
I'm offended.
–– yeah.
I dunno, I haven’t either. Probably chasing after Evans or something. But yeah, yeah he is.
Well..
-- it was good to see you again, mate. It was a bit weird going a whole summer without worrying that I'm going to get pranked at any second.
[ his eyes follow the other’s movements, before they move to the hem of his robes— s o a k e d, as well ] Seems we both forgot to charm our robes today. Interesting start to the school year, mhm?
[ Ted chuckles, nodding his head as he shakes the sleeve ] I'm always forgetting to charm my clothes. You'd think after years and years of going to school in the rain, I'd remember... but here I am, forgetting again.
Are you quite sure? I honestly wouldn’t mind. Suul isn’t here to steal them from me. He seems to have developed a taste for sugar. It’s rather annoying. A habit that must be broken, surely.
[ her hands reach for her bag, pulling out the opened, partially eaten box of sugar quills. ]
Are chocolate cauldrons more your thing?
[ Ted follows the movement of her hands. He rubs the back of his neck, a small smile growing on his face ] Well, I suppose if you really don't mind, then yes, I'll take a sugar quill.
-- [ He runs a hand through his hair ] Thank you, by the way. And, uhm, you can keep your chocolate cauldrons. [ A small laugh falls from his lips ] I don't want to take all of your candy.
"Ahhh... I see the fuck-up fairy has visited us again.."
Bugger off, Rita. [ He scowls, digging around in his pocket for his wand so he can clean up the mess he made all over the table] It wasn't like I spilled the ink on purpose.
“I’m afraid you’ve just missed her. The Trolley witch has already passed through. Fortunately, I might have a sugar quill or two to offer —if your hunger is that great.”
Damn it.
-- Ah, well. [ He shakes his head, looking up ]
No, you don't have to give me your sugar quill. We'll be at school shortly and I can wait for the feast. But thank you, though. It was kind of you to offer.
I, er, well I moved out of my parents’ house and I stayed with the Potters and me ‘n James just spent a ton of time in London and, I dunno, just hard to come back to school after that.
Well good for you, mate! Yeah, I can see why coming back to Hogwarts would be a bit of a let down. But, hey, like I said...
-- only one more year, right?
Speaking of Potter, how is the git? I haven't really seen him around since we've gotten off the train. Isn't he Head Boy this year?
Good. I would have to reevaluate your brain levels if you did.
I'm more intelligent than you give me credit for, Rita.
-- Now, tell me, how was your summer? I hope you didn't miss me too much.
We have floo. And brooms. And we can apparate. These are much more efficient. No traffic. No accidents if you’re not a complete dweeb. No tax disc.
I suppose that I agree. I'd much rather apparate than drive a car any day. It's much faster. But still...
-- learning to drive was an adventure. It made my boring summer less boring, if anything.
