WIP!
It’s been a long while since I finished The Coldest Girl in Coldtown by Holly Black and the atmosphere/setting of the book still haunts and intrigues me.

not to be That Guy but nobody cried this much when brazils national museum burned down in september, just goes to show how much people favor white history!!!
to be fair, i didn’t hear squat about this. i would have been just as unhappy about that event as this
and theres a reason you didnt hear squat about it!
because people favor white history!
notre dame got immediate coverage and attention, even though notre dame will be okay. even though the art has been saved and spared, even though it has happened before and will happen again
when the national museum of brazil burned in september, there was hardly any coverage. even though the majority of what had taken hundreds of years to collect had burned. even though the national museum of brazil was home to art from pompeii and egypt as well.
am i saying that what has been burned and demolished at notre dame isnt devastating? no. absolutely not.
but its real fucking telling what people care about when MULTIPLE people now have responded saying they hadnt even HEARD of brazils national museum burning lol
Its not because of white people, its because
1. The notre-dame is more famous than brazils national musem
2. The notre-dame is a religious place, and people love religion
3. It happened in france which is not a third world country meaning more people are “interested in it” for lack of a better term.
It’s nothing to do with racism.
Agreed. It’s an over-simplification to say it’s because of white people. If a lesser known church burned down in France or anywhere in Europe, nobody would care this much. But everyone knows the Notre Dame worldwide, it’s a popular tourist spot. That’s one of the major reasons why it’s gotten so much attention.

this sort of epic trend of people getting obsessed with east asian media like kdramas and anime, move to japan/korea to become an english teacher, pick up the first asian man they see walking the streets, and create the worst genre of youtube videos to plague the platform has gone on for literally. too long
They learned how to monetize yellow fever.
There are male pedophilic English teachers taking advantage of little kids in Asia and trashing Asian cultures on Youtube with their white man savior complex but THIS is what bothers you all?
I’m sure the Korean guys fetishize their white girlfriends back (look up “ride the white horse”, Korean men aren’t naive) or like being fetishized so what’s the problem when two adults are in a consenting, mutually fetishizing relationship? These white women aren’t making fun of Korea or Japan like racist white men do or abuse the kids they teach.
i can tell your braincells stopped working properly cause you obviously cant even think that both are a problem but yeah lmao asians getting mad of white women coming in and monetizing their yellow fever shouldnt be discussed cause white women are just the victims
Except that it’s not a problem when white women live abroad and make videos about it. If they said racist things or had a white savior complex, discuss them by all means, but they do none of that.
They couldn’t “monetize their yellow fever” if their Korean boyfriends didn’t agree to be in their videos. Do you see any Asian men who are “victims” of yellow fever complain about it? Why are most people who are mad about it NOT Asian men who should be the biggest advocates against yellow fever since they’re directly affected by it?
If you’ve ever actually spoken to native Asian men, you’d know that most of them don’t care about or welcome being fetishized (because they fetishize foreign women back!). Asian American men even see you as a bunch of jealous, non-white women who discourage yellow fever because you can’t stand seeing Asian men being desired by all. Whether that assumption is really true or not, only you can tell.

a reminder for nonasian people
you know… with this rise in interest in east asian culture and “aesthetics” over the past couple of years also comes with a rise in asian cultural appropriation… so for every nonasian out there who would consider themselves a fan of cutesy asian things or stuff like kpop or anime, you guys have an obligation to people of the culture you’re enjoying to be informed and educated about their struggles. it’s not right to love and consume cultures that’s not your own while ignoring the people who are part of them. read up on appropriation, the fetishisation and infantilisation of east asian women and desexualisation of asian men, whitewashing in media, xenophobia, the erasure of our achievements and the model minority myth. you owe it to us east asians to be educated on topics that concern us if you’re going to continue to consume media and content we make.
EDIT: if you’re nonasian please reblog this so that other nonasians can see it!!
No im not obligated to do any of that when being marketed to by overseas corporations. I may know about these issues, but I am under no obligation to and neither is anyone else.
The post makes no sense. It's basically an Asian-American begging white people to care about their struggles. An anime or Kpop fan who likes media created by native Asians isn't obligated to care about Asian-American issues. These two are different groups of people from different continents. The idea that non-Asians should read up on mainly American concepts (model minority myth, desexualisation of Asian men etc.) because they consume media created in Asia is absolutely nonsensical.
