Jules looked over the man in front of her, laughing as he did but less so. “Hey, honestly if you need a place a step up from a cheap motel I can ask my sisters if they’d be down to let you crash for a while. If you cooked dinner once or twice a week I could even hook you up rent free and you could save more.” She shrugged nonchalantly because it genuinely wasn’t a strange idea for her to open up her home to people who needed help. Plus, he was a werewolf and could potentially hit it off with Danny and help her out with her new life. Two birds, one stone. “I wish I knew more about sports but I am definitely the kind of girl who wants nothing to do with them. My sisters could possibly be of more assistance where that’s concerned I’ll have to ask them.” She nodded, “Exactly! That’s why I’m still bartending.” She laughed softly, picking up a french fry and taking a bite. “I haven’t found anything else that I’m good at and I know I can make a delicious drink out of anything.”
He chuckled and shook his head “It’s okay if I need a place to stay I will go bother you and cook my nights for you and your sister” He smiled “It’s okay, not a lot of people are into sport and the amount of people that know about rugby is even smaller” He chuckled “If they do know you will know exactly where to find me since is most likely that I will be here” He smirked “You should come and work here you know.”
The cursing was a bit of brutally honesty, but Eilis wouldn’t judge. Had she been in his place, she had no doubt her response to that answer would have been similar. Nevertheless, there was still a glimmer of concern behind that serious expression of hers. “You are safer here,” she assured him. “Even if you had been stuck shifting in the city, at least we have means of handling it properly, not to mention a sense of leniency. Had you been elsewhere… Well, let’s just stick with the positives for now.” Mentioning the threat of hunters or foreign misunderstanding of the supernatural didn’t seem such a smart idea when the hybrid was doing her best to aid her friend in his dilemma. His question then prompted her to look back at him, eliciting a calmer tone than before. “Fear is a hard thing to face, Tane, but it was facing that fear that allowed me to find control. I think about how the wolf is just another form of myself, that it connects me with all of the nature in my vicinity, and it calms me. Though, sometimes it also helps to latch onto the thought of someone or something that reminds you of your humanity– like, someone you love or a pleasant memory. Anything to clear your mind of fear or anger would be useful.”
Tane was trying really hard to see the bright on this, to believe that she was right, being there was safer, and perhaps she was correct, without a place to hide, there was no safer place for other than there, but that’s when he realize something and turned to look at her “It is, but maybe not for you” He took a deep breath and sighed “I don’t want to hurt you, I know what happened the last time I was around a wolf and I know that place is still not fully recovered”
“I used to have this way of dealing with fear, but it’s hard to fear yourself, there is no enemy, it’s only you uncontrolled... I know you all say that it’s easy to control and humanity it’s still there, but I don’t know I just haven't seen that kind of wolf before. ” He shrugged being as honest as he could with Eilis.

“I don’t think I can say no to that offer. They both sound delicious, especially since raw fish is not a problem anymore, and it never was. So you’ve lived in Hawaii before coming here? Or do you just like their cuisine?”
He smiled “You would be a crazy woman if you say no to it” He winked his eyes at her, with the smile still on his face he shook his head “No, I lived there all my childhood, I was raised in Hawaii, my mother was hawaiian and for that so am I, but the las place I was before coming here was New Zealand, then I found out about this place and I decided to come here. ”
“Yeah, you did say pizza and fries were your favourites so I’m guessing you’re a big fan of butter, too.” She smiled up at him, “Are you offering to cook for me? I’ve never heard of those dishes before. What’s Lomi Salmon and Poke?”
“Yeah, pretty much. They’re kind of crazy those people but they love what they do so I suppose that makes it all alright.”
“Yeah, I that’s what I thought I said, I don’t think there are Hawaiian restaurant around here, or at least, I haven’t saw one yet, but let’s see Lomi Salmon is a Hawaiian dish, kind of like a salmon salad, but well the salmon is served raw like in sushi, it has tomatoes and maui onion, just to make sure those are very different from normal onions, they are not pungent, and pepper if you are into spicy food. As for poke is another salad dish, it was tuna, soy sauce, sea salt, green onions, maui onions and limu”
“I think I have a shrimp Alfredo recipe somewhere and by have… I mean I stole it.” She added in a softer voice as if she was trying to keep anyone from listening. “It’s actually not as complicated as people think. It’s butter and a respect for your main ingredient. Many strong flavours and layers. It’s really good. Yeah, sushi is not really the best kind of food to fill your belly.” Audrey shook her head, the idea making her giggle. “No, no. I work at a restaurant so I spent a lot of time in the kitchen and pester the stuff about cooking.”
“Yeah, I mean you put is a lot fancier than I could, but that’s a great way of putting it. But yeah butter is the best for everything, I don’t care what people think about it. ” He chuckled knowing that he was all about greasy food “You know if you like sushi, one day I will make you Lomi Salmon or Poke, I think you might like it” He had to admit that working in a restaurant sounded fun for someone that liked cooking, but he wasn’t into putting this huge effort on dreaming about things that he couldn’t have, that was the easiest and less painful way of leaving, than less you expected the more happiness you could find “Sounds like fun, I enjoy the kitchens, all tho restaurant kitchen seem pretty hardcore. ”
Pasta was a solid idea. “Mm, pasta could work and it’s easy and quick.” She snapped out of her cooking-book- thoughts and looked at him, “My boss is a french cuisine guru so yeah I’ve learnt to love every single dish in it. But I’m quite fond of sushi, too.”
He nodded “Yes and you can make it with any sauce you want, that’s the beauty of it, if you have seafood, you can make a marinara sauce” He listen at her story realizing that he had never tried french food, maybe pastry but not real food “How exactly is the French cuisine?” He smiled “I don’t know about sushi, taste great but I usually need to eat right after I eat sushi because that thing doesn’t fill me and is too expensive to eat a lot of it” He chuckle “So you are a chef or something?”
“Alright, I may have not cooked anything decent in like… months but I still know how to do it. That’s not the problem here.” Audrey mused upon entering Chad’s, uncertain which aisle to head down to. “What’s your favourite food?”
He smiled “I believe you, my favorite is pasta, pizza and friends, I could eat does everyday, what about you?”
“It would be a smart investment, at least until you can clock it naturally. Never hurts to be safe, though.” Despite her efforts to lessen the tension of the evening to come, Eilis could sense the uneasiness in her friend, smell it even. But she couldn’t blame him. She could imagine how harsh the situation seemed from his point of view– yet to establish control within his shifts only to be stuck in the open woods as a potential threat to someone he cared for. Eilis was doing her best to counteract his worries with calm and confidence, but the answer she had to give him was likely far from comforting. “Hm… nothing in particular. Typically, I would suggest a basement, but mine is cluttered full of lab materials. If you are set on restraining yourself, we could try chaining you to a tree. I’m just not sure it will hold you back indefinitely.”
“Yeah, I usually can feel it, but lately I had been distracted, maybe not lately it was just this week, lot of work” He forced a chuckled and a shrugged, he was trying hard to be his normal self, but all the events coming were starting to get him more and more tense by the minute. “Well fuck” He wasn’t supposed to be this honest, but he had no other way to expressed his feelings after her answer, he sighed and looked at the window “I guess the chaining it’s better than nothing at all. This is what I got for acting like I’m safer here” He was talking to himself more than to her. “How did you do it? How did you manage to be in control, of not being afraid?” He turned to look at her.
“Well don’t worry. Soon enough you will be able to see me up there. I rarely ever take breaks from shows, or at least not long ones so whenever I know when my next productions going on, I’ll tell you,” she said with a smile and a nod. She understood what he meant. And she could never deny herself that rush she wanted to feel.
“I don’t think many seats are for guys your size,” she mentioned with a giggle; she had to admit it was a little ridiculous seeing him compared to the seat. Nessa led him out of the theatre and back toward the bar they had on this floor, easily moving through the crowd to the counter. “They are! I’ve only heard a few strained notes and I know it’s because Hannah’s sick; she’s typically pitch perfect. Astoria does really well with their productions so I would’ve been surprised if someone bad was cast. And no fumbles yet, though I’m just waiting. Sometimes that makes the best moments, recovering from slipups.
“I’m going to be there, something tells me when you see someone you know up there, makes it even more excited.” He smiled at her, he just hoped if she got a part it would be on the rock one she told him about.
He chuckled at her comment and pushed her lightly “Hey don’t make fun of me” he smiled and walking to the counter listen to her “So it’s fair to say that I’m watching the best of the best then?” one of the good parts bout being his side it was that he could get drinks first and it was unlikely that people couldn’t see past him “What do you want to drink?”
“Thanks, Tane. I really appreciate it.” She smiled, running her fingers through her hair. Working overtime with something as delicate as the thing that she had been working on, was leaving her exhausted. More than usual. “I would have called Logan, but he’s with his dad and I didn’t want to get in the middle of that.”
“I’m happy to help” After a few more minutes, Tane disconnected the cables and left Samantha’s car running “No need to explain, I’m sure you have your reason. Okay, I think we are ready to go, all you need to do is don’t turn off the car, but if it fails I’ll be right behind you, just in case”
“Not even a picture book?” She suggested, wiggling her brows, gesture followed by a small giggle. Sofia blushed softly. “Except for that one time on my first day when I dropped everything — I didn’t think I’d ever live that down. Now I’m just—just bad at my other job. I feel a bit better at this one. I got the hang of this one–” She admitted. Blackout made her nervous, the atmosphere dark and frantic, never knowing what she would run into.
“Like a kids book? I don’t think I have anything fun to tell kids that haven’t been told already” He smiled and poked her “Hey, you are good at it, and you can say it you like this place better, because we are cooler” He chuckled “No but really now, I feel you, I think even if we get some annoying people here from time to time, we have a good place here”
Sofia looked up at hi, wide-eyed as she wrapped an arm around his back — though hers were much shorter, and didn’t entirely reach. A small grimace of a smile as she nodded, though the expression was followed with a beam, her grin breaking across her features. “I’d love to be rich — I don’t think they have any real problems, to be honest with you.” She muttered. “Hey—- If I can waitress, you can write a book,” She moved to wipe the counter down. “Loooook — I’m waitressing–” Sofia felt a bit safer. She enjoyed her time at Kingston’s, didn’t mind the long hours in the day spent there. It meant she worked in a facility where – if possible a place other than her home — she felt safe. And it did help matters that in times of trouble, she could always count on him – hell, who’d want to get on Tane’s bad side?
He chuckled hold her closer “As much I love as I would like to make my skills so special, there is no way I can write a book, you are skilful, even if you don’t think so, I leave the writing books to people that actually have studied for it, or that at least read a lot more books that I do. ” He let her go and offered her a warm smile “And you are doing a great job”
“Possibly.” He said with a shrug. “Don’t know if i’m too ‘in’ with the townies unfortunately, but you have a point.” he smirked. “Well, i’m glad you’re and whoever else are still in good health. and maybe once I can figure out everything and how this fits into my life currently, I will be more specific, but until then…”
“ What makes you say that you are not too in?” It was hard to believe that a man his age wouldn’t be that in, since it’s likely that he would be a historic member of this town. “Yeah me too, I guess I’m not as terrible as I imagine. Okay, well I hope it’s nothing bad, but hey if you need anything I’m here.”
