Preparing Undergraduate Men of Color for Doctoral Study in the RISE Fields.
Academy participation in no way guarantees eventual admission to the University of Pennsylvania. If not at Penn, our larger aim is for all 32 scholars to enroll in highly selective graduate programs at top research universities in Fall 2018, immediately upon completion of their bachelor’s degrees.
The Grad Prep Academy was created in 2009 for Black undergraduate men interested in earning the Ph.D. in education. The expanded version now includes men of color from other racial/ethnic groups and extends into the other four RISE fields.

We will have Walk-In sessions on March 21st – 24th from 9am – 3pm.
During these sessions advisors will only plan for Summer / Fall 2016. Students will be seen by the first available advisor for their major.

Window (Re/production | Re/presentation) is extremely pleased to announce a multi-city project that will launch at satellite locations throughout the U.S. in January of 2016. Window | National will mount three, public art exhibitions throughout 2016 organized to be on view simultaneously at each location.

2016 Scholarship Opportunity with Austin Alliance for Women in Media!
They are giving one $5,000 scholarship to a college junior or senior studying media (or related field) at Austin or San Marcos area. The 2016 scholarship is open to those who: • Have completed 75+ hours of college course work by December 2015 • Have NOT graduated before December 2015 • Have an overall GPA of 3.25 or higher or a 3.0 or higher in declared major courses (on a 4.0 scale) • Are enrolled at the time of application as a full-time student (carrying a minimum of 12 hours per semester) at an Austin or San Marcos area university, with a declared major in radio, television, film, digital media, public relations, advertising, marketing, communications or broadcasting. The $5,000 scholarship is to be used for either undergraduate or graduate tuition and will be administered by the respective Financial Aid Office of the recipient. Student must be present at the AWM Gala on April 21, 2016 to accept the award. The 2016 scholarship deadline is 4/01/16! This section will focus on Public Advocacy and Civic Engagement will introduce students to the debate in the public sphere. It is a means to understand the context, issues, skills, and experiences of citizenship and civic leadership that are required for participation in a democratic society. The course will familiarize students with practices of engagement and inquiry; public issues of ethics; free speech/expression and the responsibilities of advocates; ways to be ethical consumers and public advocates. The course provides communication students with a product that requires application of academic expertise in communication to real world practice.
