Today was my birthday so I went out doll shopping and actually found some new stuff. The Jewel-Billie Descendants dolls were gorgeous so I picked up all three they had, I’m not sure if anyone else is in this line, I literally hadn’t heard about it till like yesterday, and I just found out about the budget line today. Then I found the “Powerful Princess Club” Ever After High girls in store, they had Apple, Maddie and Holly, which seemed a weird choice instead of Raven. The dolls have more detail than their usual stuff these days, but the cheapening is still apparent, if you placed one of these next to a first generation basic doll, the basic would still have better fabric, real leggings, better painted details, thicker plastic pieces, more hair, more sewn detail and IMO a better screening of their faces. The one thing that really amazed me was how cheaply they were packaged, they’re not even in a box-shaped plastic window on card, now the window slims to the right, to save on plastic, and is flimsy as heck. I have a funny feeling these are going to be the last EAH dolls produced that aren’t budget, or maybe at all, so I picked up Maddie and Apple for completionists sake.

A question for EAH fans...

Should I get rid of my dolls? I mean all of them are still boxed, but I think I might be done with Ever After High. Not only that, but it seems like that EAH is over/discontinued. However, there’s part of me who doesn’t want to give them up for some reason. Maybe because of all the money I spend on them or maybe it’s because I’m going to need them in the future.

Also, despite me hearing that Guru is no longer working on the show, there hasn’t been any recent dolls and the magazine is discontinued, that’s still not good enough for me XD Until I hear a official source, I still don’t completely believe that the series is over. What if it comes back? I just really don’t know what to do. What do you think? Should I even keep dolls from a series that I’m not really interested in anymore?

Put them up and away for a little while give yourself a time frame 3 months, 6 months. Then make a decision I have gotten rid of many dolls and regretted not giving myself time or Holding on to a special few.

I’m pretty meh on the younger siblings to be honest (feels like just another Barbie thing. They did Mermaids, now fairies, long hair/hair/play variants, Stacie and Chelsea sized MH?), but the parents are kind of interesting.

Kind of hoping for Clawdeens mom and Skelitas grandma, tbh.

Do you guys have any advise for someone looking to sell dolls? Like how to go about doing that and just advise in general?

eBay is best bet looks like people able to sell groups of dolls that include male dolls get better sales.

[On the importance of depicting a strong female character like Moana] I think Disney films are reflective of their times. And I think in this day and age, especially, we need more heroes and heroines and we need more empowered young people who will journey out to, yes, figure out who they are, but also just journey because that’s what they want to do. And, yes, [Moana’s] curly hair blowing in the wind and her athletic build makes her just fully ready to kick some butt. She’s bold, tenacious, she’s the heroine of her own story. Moana’s out in theaters today!

After animation wrapped on Big Hero, I had the opportunity to help out with design on Moana.  One of my assignments was to design the village kids from her island of Motunui.  I hoped to bring a sense of authenticity to how they looked, and to make them real for me I thought a lot about watching my little cousins grow up back in the Philippines=)Thankful for them!

What do you guys think of Gwen’s Harajuku Girls dolls? From what ive heard mattel is going to make them.

Personally i don’t really collect little girl dolls, but they are really cute designs! I also really like that are a diverse bunch. They should be good quality and seem articulated enough. #BratzKidz vibes though!
