apologies for the deeply sad / serious post. back to (ir)regularly posting funny gays and the token straights now, promise.

you know what i find genuinely interesting as a phenomenon? people who are clearly [bad word] arguing their hardest against being that, purely because they're socialized to think it's a bad word.

i.e. "i'm not a racist but i don't like how many immigrants we have, that can't be good for our country, they need to leave" you're literally racist why else would you not look for ways of integrating them better / not see the value they bring to our society

or ofc, "i'm not a homophobe but i don't want to see y'all's rainbows, don't tell me about your bedroom habits" if you weren't why wouldn't you be against weddings or generally, straight couples holding hands / the tradition of Valentine's Day, or any other number of things that indicate who is (presumbly) doing smth with someone else in a bedroom?

all that to say.... three or four interations into a discussion with a "i'm not a homophobe but i'm really angry at WoW's new Pride event because i don't want to know people's bedroom activities" person, they hit me (well, us, a (to my knowledge) cishet guy backed me up / started the thing in the first place, which was cool and shouldn't be overlooked here) with the, and i shit you not, "if Pride didn't exist we wouldn't have voted for Trump" (paraphrased). literally blaming us for our own extinction, if you think that through to the end. "if you didn't inform us of your existence we wouldn't have to hate you." like, just....damn. but you're not a homophobe, huh? :'))

[and also, literally not halfway as relevant, but somehow the most infuriating of all: they ended their comment with the instruction (not paraphrased): "be less fabulous 😊". like, that's JKR's "Fuck Your Pronouns" merch levels of diabolical. (for anyone who found out this way that she sells transphobia 'merch', i'm deeply sorry, but she has for many years)]

Dawn of a New Well - Rombric galore

Rommath asks the player to accompany him while he gives Umbric a welcome back home present his stuff back + a place to stay, apparently because he's afraid he might turn evil. or that he'll just jump him if there's no chaperone to help him control himself. that's my personal bet

their dialogue throughout this is ADORABLE AF, tsundere!Rommath is CANON if anyone was even still in doubt!!!

the way Umbric knows what it means even if Rommath would never say it... i 🥹🥹🥹

AND THEN. if you thought that was cute already. watch Rommath basically confess he has a 'weakness' for Umbric. i!!!!!!!

seriously, he's behind this whole thing. HE WANTED TO DO THIS. don't believe it?? just look at the deed on this place!!

and this is not enough. literally a couple quests later, you check in with them again, and they're still hanging out, bantering. and working together!!!! (yeah it's for a like, SUPER important cause, but yk, stillll.)

sooo apparently Chinese players can vote on who they think will die in Midnight, and apart from frankly awesome character portraits, they also have a line (and a chibi) that appears once a vote has been cast.
