”Brady? Brian sounds much more pleasing. I don’t recall calling you ‘my lover’, you’re certainly not my type. And if I left you with hounds clearly means you’re unimportant to me. So yes I call it that.”
”Well I can't take credit for naming my infant self. And you're even more of a dick than I remembered."
no strings to hold me down
After all this — the build up of emotions, the run around, the threat and fear and then the relief, and Brady’s generous, comforting, logical reasoning — Sam had to laugh. Bitterly. His gut wrenched sourly as the sound escaped him and robbed him of his breath.
"No! No, no — you see…"
another laugh
"I did know, Brady. I fuckin’ knew. I knew."
more laughter. sad laughter.
"I predicted Jess’s death. I’ve been a hunter my whole life. I knew but I chose to ignore it. This? All of this? Is my fault. And I’m so fuckin’ sorry.”
He's had this conversation over and over again with himself, paralyzed himself by spinning threads of logic to restrictive he can't breathe. The Blame Game. It's brought him through many diverged roads in many yellow woods, but all of them lead to the same place: the grave of a promising girl who didn't deserve it.
He knows from the way Sam speaks (as though he didn't before), that the Winchester has been down these paths, too. Following that, there seems no reason why they should hash it out. Not now. Apologies and blame doing nothing.
“--Let's just have a drink, yeah?"
"Nice to meet you too, Eric. I take it you’re only a traveler who passed by this town?"
"Something like that. You from around here?"
tysonbrady
”You seem familiar. Aren’t you Moose’s lover Brandon? No Barry. Or was it Brian? Probably wasn’t important.”
”Brady. Though, if memory serves, you got that rumor going that we were the lover boys. Left us with the hounds? Call that unimportant?"
Bad Blood || Jess & Brady
”That’s bullshit! You know exactly who I am. There’s no way you’ve killed too much to forget me. If you’re the one that brought me back, then you wasted your time. I’m not letting you hurt Sam again.”
It takes a lot of concentration on Jess’s part to keep her hand from trembling. Deep down, she had hoped that Sam had not discovered that his friend had killed her so that she would be able to kill the demon herself. Seeing Brady standing there across the street had been enough evidence for her to make the hasty assumption that it was the demon, not Sam’s friend Tyson, standing before her.
The brunette keeps her hardened gaze focused on his eyes, despite the flood of memories of torture and fire that were pouring out of the repressed part of her brain. Those were typically saved for nightmares. After all, in the few hours before her death, the demon had made it clear that she had never known the real Tyson Brady. Only Sam had. The painful memories were the only memories associated with Brady that weren’t the demons lies.
”I’ve been hoping for this chance.”
”Great-- great job. You've got the emotions down, too. To a fucking tee. Great job, I'll be should to put in for an Oscar nomination."
He'd seen Jess be emotional, oh how'd he'd seen Jess be emotional. Through a tunnel miles and miles away, he'd watched it all, emotions cycling from confusion to disbelief to betrayal to pain and pain and pain. Etched behind his eyelids were the expressions on her face as he fulfilled his mission.
In the face of a gun, he probably should have been more scared, more eager to defend his life and his humanity. But he'd had demons on his tail since the day he first woke up. Being killed by a creature wearing her face? That was exceptionally cruel. But, maybe, only fair.
”You gonna take it?"
Comfortable wasn’t going to happen, but she could at least attempt to fake it. Though the man seemed nice enough ( too charming for his own good, but nice), Mary had very little experience with the business type. She was completely out of her comfort zone.
“ You have a lovely office. Was that a ficus I saw in the lobby? ”
“ Quite possibly, though I can't vouch for certain. I do many things in this office, Mrs. Winchester, but selecting plants and other decor is not one of them. ”
The name made her uncomfortable, so he nestled it delicately in for the most potent effect. Right where he wanted her.
“ ----So, let's cut to the part I do handle. ”
Bad Blood || Jess & Brady

His was the last familiar face Jess would have ever wanted to see. Yet, there he was, standing right across the street from the coffee shop she had found work in. Her shift had ended and she muttered something of a goodbye before grabbing her purse, her hand clutched to the cool metal of her gun as she walked out, covered by the guise of searching for her phone. Jess crossed the street, making sure she was out of sight from the big windows of the shop before she pulled out her gun and trained it on him.
”S-stay away from me. I know how to kill you now, and I won’t hesitate.”
He passed by that coffee shop day after day on his way to the library. They had a solid collection there, he had found, on he supernatural. The whole town was a good, place, honestly. Cheap food, a week police department, and every night he got to return to a hotel bed totally devoid of bed bugs. He was living the American Dream, or at least the narrow and twisted version of it that had the potential to exist for him.
On the third day walking past the place, he saw her and was hit with grief and flashbacks. On the fifth, the grief became shock, on the seventh, the shock became rage, and on the eighth, the rage became standing across the streets, concealed gun loaded and hands in pockets. He was waiting. No demon nor angel nor whatever the hell she happened to be was going to use the Shocking Meatsuit trick on him.
”Don't pull that shit with me. Don't even fucking try. I don't know who you are and I don't-- I don't care. Leave me alone."
"I’m Tatia Garson. And you’re?"
"Tatia, it's a pleasure. Eric Tyson. Call me Eric."
THEME RECONSTRUCTION UNDERWAY UNTIL 11:00PM 12-14-2014 Brady and I apologize for the mess and any inconvenience it may cause
She’s a complete idiot—-she’s a tool for getting to her feet, for standing there gaping at a man who looks too familiar, looks too much like a night seared into her memory. Her stomach burns, and when she places her hand over it there’s a deep- seated throb beneath her palm, the phantom sensation of torn flesh and cotton. The woman next to her elbows her again and says she looks like she’s gonna hurl, and instead Jess shakes her head and steps away.
Tyson Brady means everything to her. Tyson Brady means safety and normalcy, and in the same breath means being gutted by one of her best friends and a plea for him to stop ending in a gurgle. (Maybe she is going to be sick.) Tyson Brady is trust and a smirk and being left to die. And yet his appearance has changed; he looks older, haggard, like he hasn’t been living so much as existing. On one hand she thinks good, he doesn’t deserve to enjoy the finer things in life, and on the other she thinks of the boy from her freshman year, cracking jokes about his too-tall roommate and late-night cram sessions for finals.
He reaches the door and even though every instinct, every reasonable and rational thought is screaming at her not to—-sit down, stick with the crowd, god dammit —-Jess follows him. Problem is, she’s not exactly subtle about it, and yet her main focus falls upon I trusted you and less on the women snickering behind her.
Aside from the pen she’d snagged from the bar she’s defenseless, and unless she gets lucky enough to give him the ol’ one-two she’s screwed.
She wasn’t exactly lucky enough last time, nor would it have done any good.
Tyson Brady isn’t human, and Jess will be damned (again) if she’s going to let him freely wander around the streets of Where The Hell Ever and wait for him to pay her another visit. Or anyone else, for that matter. She’ll figure something out. In retrospect, trying to approach a monster alone is one of the worst ideas she’s ever had, but then she’s already out the door.
She follows him, of course she fucking does. He might have thought (had he been thinking at all) that she would come to her senses, find the total lack of logic in following him, the total disregard for her own well-being. It angers him to think of Jess throwing herself away so carelessly, being so quick to gamble on her second chance at life. But when he thinks back to the girl he knew from school, so full of life and passion and curiosity, he finds it easy (if discomforting to believe she'd pursue her murderer.
Her murderer.
The sound of the word, even within his own brain, causes his stomach to flip violently. He leans one hand against the outside of the restaurant, fearing collapse. Another man walks by, murmuring a comment he hears only through the long, winding pat of a tunnel about 'knowing your limits'. How he would love to be brought to this point by alcohol and not murder, he thinks, relishing the dream of claiming gluttony his worst sin.
Through the waves of guilt and nausea, he forces his heart to remember what his instincts knew at first glance: that she follows him not for having the curiosity of a kitten and passion of a lioness, but because he is being played with as a ball of yarn. Hell has been on his heels since the day he woke; he swears he hears the hounds barking every night, drawing closer and closer and now...
They have located him, but he will not be found a shaking mess, the shell they thought they left. He refuses it, straightens his back as he gains energy from the thousands of suns threatening to burst from inside of him. Too long he has lived as their pet. No more. No more. When he turns around in confrontation, blind fury blurs his view of her face. It is for the best. " Leave me alone and no one gets hurt. "
The Horsemen would be proud that his voice hisses without shaking, he knows in the back of his mind. In time, he will come to fear that his human mind seeks still the approval of beings that were never truly his to serve. In time, he will come to realize that his hands, not he, have committed the heinous crimes.
But in this moment, the threat stands.
“——That’s right.”
Her smile falters momentarily when the name Winchester is spoken. It still stung, remembering the life she had left behind, but letting that show wouldn’t help anyone. If she was going to make it home, which she was, Mary had to keep herself alive. And that, unfortunately, required money. Which, in turn, required a job.
" I would like to thank you again for seeing me on such short notice. ”
“ Of course, of course. Please, take a seat. Make yourself comfortable. "
When she reached out to the company, well, he was perplexed to say the least. But having Mary Winchester-- having the mother of the Winchesters -- so close, that could only play into his hand.
“Brady?...”
The name escaped Sam in a startled gasp, weakly tumbling from his mind to his lips, into the space between him and the other. Calling it out, knowing that it was really him — it shifted the color of the situation a great deal. Sam had to swallow past the dryness, had to just feel the shock because it froze him. It shut him down for a moment. “I’m so sorry—” he managed after a moment. looking up at the man he hadn’t seen in years. “I’m sorry. I’m so sorry this happened to you.” He was shaking his head, eyes filling with the type of sadness he felt everytime someone suffered because of him.
He spared not one glance up at Sam, keeping his attention directed fully on wrapping his arm. He tied the handkerchief once, twice, thrice, before deeming it no longer an appropriate form of distraction. He then busied himself with flexing his fingers, making a first over and over again. Nervous energy, coping mechanisms, busy fidgets all wrapped up in one.
“You never had control over any of it. You didn't know any better than me."
Finding Sam, he knew he would probably either be greeted with death or pity. He's not a fan of either, sometimes thinks he'll fight against both as long as he can with the fury of the thousand suns that once burned around him. But at the moment, he selfishly lets it slide.
tysonbrady liked for a starter
"Let me go.”
"Come now, Castiel. You know I am not so easily persuaded."
"Do me a favor? Wait 'til I'm finished this to stab me in the gut? Smokes cost, you know."
The shake of his hand on the return trip to his mouth acts as the only indication that he's appropriately shaken by the encounter. The patch of pavement at his feet remains the sole object of his fascination, gaze unmoving to look at his old friend. Somehow, it seems like that would only make things worse.
"Wish I could help you, but bed bug free motels are rare around here."
"Figured... By the way, what's your name? If I'm gonna keep asking you for directions, might as well know who I'm asking."
