New to this sort of thing, but willing to learn! Any tips on running a blog or just an RP standpoint in general is more than welcome. OOC: 25/Female/Ace-Demi, I’ve been rping for a little over 12 years now and am finally kicking myself in the butt to get this ball going. Ah, he had come from nowhere, hadn’t he? He forgets that that tends to unnerve people. “Don’t worry about that right now. Just sit still, and I’ll fix it.”

Of course, the young lad seems to think he’s among the number of the beasts sent to do him in, but he’ll quickly discover that’s not the case, as he looks back, then ducks into Strix’s hiding place. “Easy, now. Let me see. I’ve got some disinfectant, but I en’t got any stitches, just cotton ‘n’ gauze. Think you’ll be okay ‘til we get somewhere a li’l better prepared?”

He’s very much trying to keep himself calm after that endeavor, after that fight that he just got miraculously saved from before it got too worse for wear. Reeling and processing what in sane hell just happened was one thing but when the man decides to come into the crevice Strix’s shoulders stiffen visibly. “Wait wait wait–” Saying this as he tries to further away himself, not getting far given his state of things. A wheeze leaves him and renders the scuttling back null. Something seems to put him on pause, mouth agape, then closes and relents. What had just passed his thoughts there? “Y-yea. Aye, should be? I mean I ain’t..” Strix’s eyes wander suddenly, “Should be. The worst’s just a wound that got reopened, could’a been a lotta bit worse if you got here any later though..?” He trailed it off as a question, prompting a name to hopefully be said to fill in the blanks. 

Teddy’s not humoring any small talk, and he’s certainly not going to give Strix any space to distract him so he can run off and attract predators (well, dangerous predators) with the smell of a fresh wound. The young man is shoving himself further away, but he’s not having it, looking him over with faintly luminous eyes.

If it weren’t for the fact that he’s clearly here to help, he’d be unsettling, an apex predator in human shape to lull his prey into a false sense of security.

He misses out on the prompt for a name, instead immediately setting to try and get Strix into a comfortable, stable position to word on his wounds. “Well, lucky you, I showed up just in time. What was all that about, anyway? You en’t look like much more than a bite, kiddo.”

There’s a long moment where Strix half considers to take the chance and bolt out given those eyes trailing from where he had shoved himself, and where this other man, had come from. It’s only that gaze that startles him enough to stop said train of thought, eyes widening slowly in what is a mixture of awe and fear. “All about?” He echoes, barely catching the entire question at first. There’s a clear, visible tensing of his body when the other approached closer. He attempts a soft breath of a laugh, “Hells if I know, I normally hunt those not become the hunted.” The expression goes stern for half a moment, then thinking better of it his face softens. “I’ve faced a good lot more than just this, ever get nearly sliced in two?” He’s keeping his hand across his side with a slight pressure on it. His job, he had said, and yet the lad looked decently young. “Might’ve.. went out a bit too early before prior wounds healed, I’d guess. I s’pose.” Strix more or less looked to the side like a child caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Now THAT was interesting, and a bit weird honestly. Seeing a moth creature morph into another being would have been shocking to some but he hardly seemed phase. If anything he only looked more curious, wonderous possibly. His head tilted to one side, slowly, mouth partially agape. “..How’sit you do that..?” Wait– no, that’s rude. He shook his head to rid of the amazed stupor, “Speak moth? Wish I could! Can you ‘magine how cool that’d be? But nah, I speak good ol’ boring human.” He grins, a friendly one, “Kind of ya! I go by a few names but you’re free t’call me Strix.” The owlet man continues in a lower tone, tentative, “You doing a’right? I come out like this when I got a lotta bit on my mind.”

     Alli chuckled a little at the other’s awed expression since they were used to be people being a little more spooked than that. It was a nice change of pace. “I ba-arely speak hum-m-man…” they said with a scoff at themself, “My words get t-taaa-angled, it’s ann-n….a-ann…” They pause a second, taking a soft breath, “Annoying.”

     But with that said, they move to jump down from the branch so they wouldn’t be so high above their new acquaintance. This time, before they spoke, their hands flashed as they signed, “Nice to mmm-meet you, S-S-S-Strix.” They kind of hoped the other might know sign, but it was always a long shot. Though their friendly smile faltered slightly when they were asked if they were alright. But should they vent their woes and sorrows onto this person they only just met? No way!

     “Just ha-aving a hard time sleeping, tha-at’s all.” they said, forcing their smile to return. They were a bad liar…

Yellow eyes glinted for a moment as if something passed through the lad’s own mind, only after did he pull that owlet-looking hood down to reveal a freckled, ginger man just beneath it. Young-ish within his early twenties yet he looked ragged as a person would at working a full time job, and he still smiled-- softer this time as they continues. “I sure think you’re doing fine, personally.” He assured. Those eyes immediately looked to the hands when they moved as the moth-human-creature spoke. Or signed, in this instance. He furrowed his brow and tilted his head to one side before a lightbulb went off in his mind. “Aw hells, is it easier for you to do that? Go ahead! I know a few folk who sign. Can’t speak it but I can understand it.” Sheepish for half a moment, those last words seem to finally cause his own friendly look to fall. Suddenly serious, “..You too, eh?” But that didn’t last long either, instead he perked up with a clap of his hands. “Well! What if we hang about a bit then, mmh? Think that’d help you a tad?”

"Hey. Are you all right? They're gone. I dunno what they wanted you for, but they're gone. Here- ah, shit- uh. Listen. I know you en't got any reason to trust me, but I can smell that injury from here. Let me fix you up."

To say he was in pain was an understatement, having been chased down by those beasts was terrifying enough but adrenaline sent the poor lad into overdrive that by the time his savior had fended them off he was already slouched on the ground, holding a hand over what was the worst of the wounds across his stomach. "Where the bloody hell did'ya come from??" The words weren't hostile, just bewildered. "Th-- smell? You're not one of those things, are ya?" Not that he could give much of a fight to fend off the other currently, he didn't seem poised to attack. "I'm fine, I'll be fine. Don't let me be a problem for you, a'right?" In spite of his injured he raises his free hand, as if to waft dismissively but winces. "Ah.. nah, no I might actually need a lotta bit of help... Erghk.." @bleedinghearth

The new voice startled him from his mumbling, glancing over his shoulder with a wide eyed expression. Strix had been jotting down a few notes about things recently. They were various in number, ranging from what to do on the next hunt to those he had met and other things. To be honest? Not cohesive, but muttering them allowed apparently didn't help. "Make it make sense?" He gave an exasperated sigh, "Firstly I should probably feel spied on-- the bloody hell did you come from? How 'bout we start there?"

never be embarrassed for being proud of your OC.  never listen to the voices telling you they’re too powerful or too weak,  too angry or too happy,  too hard or too vulnerable,  too strong or not strong enough.  if they are exactly how you intended to create them,  or if they’ve grown beyond what you imagined in a way that makes you happy,  then that’s all that matters.  every published and produced ‘canon’ character is someone’s OC.  you don’t bat an eye at these characters being proclaimed to be powerful.  you don’t bat an eye at them being praised within the text or loved by the writers and fans.  your OC is no different.  there is not any real,  important difference between what you’ve created and what you see on the pages of a book or on a screen.  it’s all of equal value.  it’s all just people telling stories and enjoyment is the only real value.

It was the movement of something climbing that finally earned the glance up, albeit worried to what he would find. It was a tad difficult to adjust and properly see what it was but as he was able to figure out there.. was a moment where he about freaked himself out inwardly. No, no, the figure waved. They weren’t a threat, calm yourself, Strix. The cloak adored him, hood covering his face and those two sticking up feathers would’ve also given the mistake he was another moth. “Ah– you th’ one making that humming?” A hand raised in turn, lopsided smile. He wasn’t the only one out and about, apparently. “You clearing your head too, friend?”

     The huge moth creature gave another trill, nodding to both questions. Though once they were perched more securely, they actually started to sift their form so they could talk more properly. The fur vanished and the wings shrunk to hide under the coat of the young human figure. This was one of the many moments where they were very happy that they still kept their clothes when they changed shape.

     “Figured I’d sa-ay hello p-p-properly, since I d-doubt you speak mmmm-moth-” they said with an awkward chuckle. “Um… hi, I’m A-Alli.”

He had been out on his own, a stroll within the forest to clear his head, when a.. noise got his attention. The two feathers atop the cloak mimicking that of antennae twitched slightly. For half a tick his body went on alert and he wildly glanced around for what could be making such a noise– then curiosity filled in. Whatever it was didn’t seem to be hostile, so he hoped, so what could be doing such a thing? In some subconscious response as Strix was coming upon the noise he made sure to make his own here or there by purposefully stepping on sticks or tapping on a tree. A strange way to make it known he was there and arriving.

     The sound of the other approaching caused the large moth to stop their calling, trilling softly as they turned to look. They tilted their head before starting to climb down, wanting a better look at whoever was approaching. For a second, the silhouette of the feathers gave them hope that it was another moth, but no…

     Was nice to see a somewhat familiar face though, even if they hadn’t properly met. They perched just above him, waving gently.

He’s returned from a particularly bad hunt. A hand reaches over to his opposite side as he hisses in pain, blood pooling and barely being stopped by the torn side of his shirt. A foolish mistake nearly cost him his life. Again. Thankfully he knows how to suture a wound even if a bit messily.
