Status update #31 2026 AKA: what do you mean Blender is not contributing to my fics

A very short update to confirm that I still haven't given up on my stories, but just have shifted to other things in the last few months for the little free time I have (namely, video game modding).

I'll have a little bit more time for a short while, and I'm also about to switch my Windows PC to Linux for a variety of reasons; the latter will also make the new modding hobby substantially harder. While that is a bummer, I guess it also may have the result of getting me to start working on my fic projects again :D

Seriously: priority wise for the multi-chapters, nothing has changed from Status Update #29. Status-wise, The Butterfly Bane Chapter 13 is underway and about 50% done on the first draft. Not unlike Chapter 9, it's going to act as a transition as we move into the next major arc.

Hopefully the new chapter will also be joined by a few new one-shots, but we shall see (as usual, rather not make promises).

Buttercup Gets Caught Sneaking Out! (Buttercup's Sneakout)

To the PPG fans who may not have seen this, I'm just uploading this on my Tumblr so you guys get the chance to see it! This is my first animation that blew up on my YT channel, and I owe it in part to the PPG fans on reddit for helping it explode and getting my name out there.

Yes, I voice Buttercup and Blossom. Yes, I'm a guy. Yes, I know it's crazy lol

And yes, I hand drew this entire thing! Everything you see in this animation, the movement, the backgrounds, the coloring, all done by hand. Was it grueling? Yes. Mentally taxing? Absolutely. Worth it? YES

And yes, I said I would make a follow up to the video. I DIDN'T FORGET. I'm making a follow up video that will touch in that soon. But for now, I'd like for you to enjoy this video :)

Status update #30 owww

Once again, I'll try to keep things short. I'm alive, and still interested in bringing my fanfic writing ventures forward at some point in the future. In all honesty, things heated up work-wise (once again). I've had to dedicate more and more frequently additional hours per day to work to catch-up with my tasks in the last three months and that won't stop until mid-to-late November at the very least. With that amount of time dedicated to my current job, I just don't have the energy need to spend time writing (like I did this summer), and I ended up prioritizing things a bit less taxing on my mind for the little free time I had. I don't read fanfic as much as I used to for the same reason.

So yeah, in general I still want to update my stories. It just will take a long, long while longer for work reasons, and I don't know how long.

Story priorities have not changed for multi-chapter/multi-story projects, so you can check out status update #29 for a reminder.

As for the one-shots, I did try my hand with a few ideas and I have 3-4 drafts in my fanfic files in various state of completion. However, I'm currently unhappy with how they turned out (I'm talking about the idea themselves) so it's likely I'll scrap a few. I understand this isn't very interesting to readers since in recent times I tried not to share details until the story is out anyway, but I think it's fair to mention this as it's yet another aspect of my writing hobby that contributes to how slow I am in posting new chapters and/or stories.

In any case, I would like to keep experimenting, as those ideas do help me avoid burnout with fandoms. So we shall see if at least one comes out in the near future.

Sorry again for my slowness. Hopefully, at some point in the future, I'll be able to start working on my projects properly and regularly again.

I replayed Door to Phantomile the other day, and it made me fall in love with the tone and story of this game all over again.

Huepow was just doing what was necessary to protect his people. He's just a kid too. He didn't know how badly it would end up hurting Klonoa.

I sketched out and then immediately executed this idea within like 3 hours because I wanted to capture this odd melancholic feeling in image form before the thought slipped away.

The Butterfly Bane: Chapter 12 (Déjà Vu) has now been posted (story is more or less halfway through!)

Story synopsis: "The Butterfly Bane" stars Star Butterfly, who in-between Season 3 and Season 4 decides to go to Omnitraxus for help in her search for her mother. Her unwise decisions lead into her being transported into an alternate version of Mewni where major events transpired very differently in both the past and the present. The story revolves around Star meeting alternate versions of her friends and her enemies while trying to learn more and more about the world, what went wrong, and what she can do to help, with the de facto co-protagonist being Moon Butterfly, who in the new universe is a renegade warrior with a harsh past.

Additional points: the new chapter breaks the halfway point of the story (at least according to my outline; there are more than 12 other chapters left, but some should come out on the shorter side in terms of length). This prediction may become a bit too opmistic, but we shall see.

Comments:

I feel like the latest chapter of "The Butterfly Bane," one of my WIP stories, is enough of special occasion to warrant a tumblr post for the occasion. We're still a bit far away from completion and right now I wouldn't mind, after finishing, to touch a little bit in detail on how the story evolved from the early ideas into its current form (a post-ending behind-the-scenes if you will).

There is one thing I'd want to mention today: Chapter 12 covers is the last bit of ideas for the story that were jotted down in my notes files before the original posting date of Chapter 1, almost five (ouch) years ago. A lot has changed since then, with things being reworked or just cut down as I continued to (slowly write) the story, but this one chapter idea survived through everything, holding to its role as a climatic moment and being the necessary catalyst for what is coming in future chapters. It also doubles considering that a few key moments here are a bit of a homage to one of my favourite episodes in the show.

Hopefully the chapter manages to stick the landing. Personally, I'm happy with the results, but that's just me. For now, I'm just smiling thinking I finally reached a moment I've been looking forward to for quite a while.

also wtf I wrote and edited this thing in less than 1 month rather than 6 months/1 year!? (no it probably won't happen again, but maybe I can write more than 1-2 chapters per year lol)

Status update #29 2025

I'll stay very brief this time:

I'm alive, just mostly absorbed in my current occupation plus deciding what to do afterwards in my life, so writing juice reserves are at an all time low

Generally speaking, nothing changes in terms of priorities for my fanwork stuff.

So with all of that said, current multi-chapter statuses are:

The Butterfly Bane is being worked on. Next chapter has about 1-2k words left, before re-editing. Won't say how long it'll take, but it's indeed my main priority.

Pacifica over Yonder is still up next on my 'to be updated' list. The writing block responsible for leaving this story without updates for so long is also the same one that makes things difficult with the chapter that is supposed to be written right now. Hopefully when this one is posted, future chapters will be easier to work on.

Time Woes with a Pinch of Frogs and The Powerpuff Legacy are still on a long-term hiatus.

Still working every now and then on the Tales of the Queens of Mewni stories. I started rewriting from scratch the Crescenta/Emily one, while I've begun working on a new one featuring Alphonse and Eclipsa with the theme of sickness.

A few one-shots unrelated to the fandoms I've posted for in the past (games) may come up in the next month or two. They're essentially attempts at trying to get back into action with fandoms that I've gotten to experience recently. Won't share them here, but that's the reason why things may take a while longer for the on-going projects listed above.

Not going to give up on this hobby yet. I guess that, uh... these things... they take time.
