It is noteworthy that between ‘Amr ibn al-‘Ās and his son ‘Abdullāh (may Allāh be pleased with them) was only eleven years in difference (in age).
ويذكر أن عمرو بن العاص ليس بينه وبين ابنه عبد الله إلا إحدى عشرة سنة
Imām ash-Shāfi'ī said: There was a woman from amongst us who became a grandmother when she was twenty-one years old.
وقال الشافعي رحمه الله رأيت جدة لها إحدى وعشرون سنة
And now, when you are twenty-one you have not even married!
عندنا الآن تبلغ الواحد والعشرين وما تزوجت
And the woman can become mature at the age of nine,
حتى الآن لأن المرأة يمكن أن تبلغ تحيض ولها تسع سنوات
And get married when she is ten,
فإذا قدرنا أنها تزوجت ولها تسع سنوات يعني في العاشرة
And have a child during the first year of her marriage.
وحملت في أول سنة وأتت ببنت
And her child may be a daughter, and then when her daughter is nine, she gets married and then she has a child in the first year of her marriage,
ثم إن البنت لما تم لها تسع سنوات تزوجت في العاشرة كم هكذا سنة يأتيها
And now the grandmother is only twenty-one years old and she has a grandchild.
ولد في الحادي والعشرين فتكون جدته أم البنت
