Ever since Dany stans noticed that the theme that plays while Viserys talks about the prince that was promised, the song of ice and fire and the king or queen that will unite and save the realm is Dany’s theme, I’ve seen a few people claim that it’s not actually Dany’s theme playing, but the dragons’ theme, and therefore, House Targaryen’s theme. So they claim that we can’t really conclude that Dany is the prophesied hero, because the theme playing is just about House Targaryen, not Dany specifically.
Well, Jordi Maquiavello has talked about this. For those who don’t remember, Jordi was the person who first figured out Dany and Jon’s love theme, Truth, before the theme was ever fully revealed. He did this by noticing that the new theme playing in Jon and Dany’s scenes was a mix of Dany and Drogo’s theme and Jon and Ygritte’s theme. He also has several videos in which he analyzes the music episode by episode, the themes of each house in the show, and the themes of several characters. I’m pretty certain there are few people (if any) who are more familiarized and knowledgeable about the Game of Thrones soundtrack than Jordi.
Anyway, back to the point. Jordi made a video analyzing House of the Dragon’s first episode, and in that video, he pretty much confirmed that the theme playing while Viserys talks about the savior is Dany’s theme, Breaker of Chains. He also made sure to notice that it’s only Dany’s theme playing, with no mention of Jon in the music. Unfortunately, his video was taken down due to copyright, but I did watch the video before it was taken down, and I can confirm that’s what he said. Also, despite his video analysis being taken down, he has another video (without the show footage) in which he debates the first episode with EvilSmile. In this video (link), he is asked this exact same question, if the theme playing is really Dany’s theme, or if it’s the theme of the dragons and of House Targaryen. And here, he once again confirms that it’s not House Targaryen’s theme, but Dany’s theme, Breaker of Chains. He explains that the version of Prince that was Promised that was utilized in the episode makes it even more clear that it’s Dany’s theme playing in that part of the music (he had already made a video about the Prince that was promised theme when it was released before the first episode came out, and in that video he already mentioned that it was Dany’s theme, Love in the Eyes, playing in the Prince that was promised theme). He also says that House Targaryen’s themes (and the dragons’ themes) are Dance of Dragons and Mother of Dragons, and that these themes play every time the dragons appear in GOT, sometimes with a minor or descending scale when the show wants to make the dragons more fearsome. He says that theme Dance of Dragons was utilized in HOTD’s first episode when Rhaenyra arrives in her dragon, but that when Viserys is talking about the savior, the theme playing is Dany’s theme, Breaker of Chains, which is a theme that even more clearly belongs to Dany, because it uses Dany’s theme “Love in the Eyes”. He says that the showrunners could have utilized the theme of the dragons and of House Targaryen, but they decided to use Breaker of Chains, which is Dany’s theme. He also says that even though he believes Jon and Dany are both the savior, only Dany’s theme plays and there’s no mention of Jon in the show or in the music. By the way, I don’t even agree with everything he said in these videos. For example, he says that Dany could have had the ending she had in GOT with more time and development, which I clearly disagree. But when it comes to music, he knows what he’s talking about, and he makes it clear that the theme playing during the reveal of the prophecy is Dany’s theme.
