Hirunaka no Ryuusei Finale!
And it ends with Chapter 78! What a successful series, that ended in such a short amount of time. I love manga that do not get dragged on by the mangaka for the fans, and I love the ending. Hirunaka no Ryuusei has now gone down in history as (probably) the second manga to ever go with the second guy which is very admirable. What I usually dislike about shoujo manga is that it makes females look like they are incapable of moving on. In manga like Tonari no Atashi (which i love to death), I actually admired the main character because as annoying as she could be sometimes, in the end she grew from the beginning of the story. I think this also happened with Suzume and Mamura! Because Mamura is canon!!
Although I do feel for Shishio, i just wanted to read a manga where the protagonist was capable of moving on in her life after being dumped, where most protagonists would just backslide and forget all of the terrible things that the first guy did to them. Yamamori Mika ended the manga in a very daring way, which granted angered many of the fans
Also, just something to say to those of have been criticizing Yamamori Mika. It is not your manga, it is hers. I know that many of you are saying things like “she was just appealing to the bigger fan/ship base” “she changed the ending because people wanted her to” and all i have to say to that is NO. Yamamori Mika clearly said in an interview that she would not change the ending based on the popularity polls (which shishio won very frequently). From the very start of the manga she said that she had a set ending for who Suzume would be with, and in the end it seems that all along it was Mamura.
Hirunaka no Ryuusei is as much of a love story as it is a story about a girl growing up and moving on through trials in her life. It’s a story about how she matures, and if you’ve actually read the last chapter you’d understand that the Daytime Shooting Star was never Shishio, but Suzume. The last chapter clearly states that all along she is Mamura’s Daytime Shooting Star, hence the name of the manga.
I don’t like that people are making Yamamori Mika feel bad about her decision on how she ended the manga. She has even apologized on her twitter which is really messed up. This is her story, not yours so if you are bitter, just calm down.
