Do your baby's sleep habits have you feeling like a zombie?
I am an example of what is possible when girls from the very beginning of their lives are loved and nurtured by people around them. I was surrounded by extraordinary women in my life who taught me about quiet strength and dignity,

Mobile maternal health is saving lives around the world.
Oregon has one of the highest rates of home birth in the United States. These births are usually attended by state-licensed midwives. But some pregnant wom
“Some letters were just ambiguous saying, ‘high risk,’ ‘not eligible for home birth,’ not appropriate for midwifery care, without any correlating reasons,” she says. “So it does seem completely random. It does seem very biased against midwifery care.”
One New York City doctor has created the perfect playlist for expecting mothers. Dr. Jacques Moritz, an attending obstetrician and gynecologist at New York-Presbyterian Hospital, teamed up with Spotify to create the ultimate playlist for when an expectant mother goes into labor. The "Birthing...
"Music strongly influences our central nervous system's limbic system which manages our memories, emotions, and how we deal with fear and pain,” Moritz said. “It makes sense that women would turn to music during childbirth as a source of comfort and strength."

Babywearing doesn’t have to be complicated or expensive, here’s how you stick to the basics!
She has her reasons (and an ob/gyn backs her up).
““Clitoral stimulation worked an absolute TREAT. It shifted my focus to my vagina, to the energy brewing within me. It made me feel connected, and made me feel like I had some control over what I was feeling.” She also notes that the contractions were easier to handle, and she also enjoyed the rest in between them more than she otherwise might have.”
Let’s talk: Baby Swaddling!
1. Hands should be brought together at the chest rather than down at their sides.
2. Hips and legs shouldn’t be wrapped tightly, only the upper body should be.
3. It’s okay if they cry the whole time you’re figuring it out at first! They’re trying to figure out what you’re trying to do too.
4. You don’t have to get an expensive, designer baby swaddler. Blankets work just fine.
Frida and the Cesarean Operation 1932 Oil on canvas … 28.7" x 24.4" Collection of Dolores Olmedo Mexico City, Mexico In early May of 1932, Frida became pregnant again while in Detroit. Knowing that Diego didn’t want children and knowing that there were certain risks involved in child bearing, Frida decided to abort the pregnancy as she had the previous one. A local Detroit doctor gave her medications and castor oil to force the abortion. However, all attempts failed and at that point Frida decided to carry the child to term. She was told by doctors that she could carry the child to full term and deliver by a cesarean operation. Unfortunately they were wrong. On July 4th she suffered a horrible and life threatening miscarriage. This unfinished painting depicting the “would be” cesarean procedure is believed to have been started prior to the miscarriage and is an expression of both hope and fear. In the painting she shows the delivered baby next to her. With hopes shattered by the miscarriage, she left the painting unfinished. Five days after the miscarriage she began work on her “ex-voto” style drawing “Henry Ford Hospital” which depicts the horror of the miscarriage.
