JUNE. sparkling wine with peach slices, doing research by the open window (rustling pages, rustling branches), colourful scarves wrapped around the hair, having lunch in botanical gardens or local parks, sweet-sour rhubarb cake, a trip to the local bookshop between one appointment and the next, lipstick kisses on cool-sweating bottles of lemonade, a welcome breeze in light cotton and fluttering skirts, late night arthouse films, the scent of strawberries filling the kitchen, the cool quiet of the library (and the rush of dry heat when stepping out into the bright-hot day). The joy of being busy, the luxury of stopping to smell the roses.
