Wow that's gunna take a while X3 I love yaoi/shounen ai that aren't completely straightforward or that have, ya know, an actual storyline (though sometimes I just read it for fluff XD). Like TNC was good because it had plot and I heard Dmmd also has a decent plot

Toshima, city of addiction, madness and death. No true sanctuary except for key places many have come to believe. If only they knew it was all lie but some knew deep down there isn’t such a place. Rain was coming down hard this evening. Wet footsteps resounding off crumbling walls. Shouts and hushed noises melted somewhere in there. Shiki— someone said and ran faster before something sliced through the air. Rain seizing for a split moment before continuing to fall. Blood splatters across a wall where the rain couldn’t reach.

Raindrops against leather make a peculiar sound. More profound than when it hits bare concrete or debris littering the streets. Against metal or anything else possible it was still nowhere the same as leather. Water streaks nonstop down this leather that hangs off slightly wide shoulders. Cut off at the arms, decent ways from the elbow. Cascading down to end just inches from the ankles. Right next to the streaked wet leather in the rain was something else. It shined under the pale light that penetrated the dark alleyway.

Favoring the metal. Caressing it till it etched its lethal extension. Washing away the blood that had stuck in its assault. Dripping off the sharp edge till the rain was clear with no sign of blood. Leather bound this figure turns. The corpse on the ground hadn’t been alone. Two other stood like two creatures caught in the headlights. Death curdling screams is all that filters out the alleyway. Forcing chills up anyone passing by’s spine.

Akira heard the cries, watched the people run past him with eyes lit in fear. Scared of pain, scared of death--things that Shiki seemed to create and leave in his wake wherever he went. The rain and the darkness made the atmosphere seem all the more ominous, but something told Akira instinctually not to run away. Every time prey tried to run from the predator, they were always caught.

He stuffed his hands in the pockets of his coat, hunching his shoulders a little against the trickling wet running down his back and matting his hair against his head. He would've seemed a drowned rat had his eyes not been blazing with the adrenaline of a challenge.

Slowly, one step at a time, he began to make his way in the opposite direction of the people running past him. His feet sloshed through puddles, and it was hard to tell exactly which colour the puddles were in the dark. He finally made it to an area of quiet, where people had long since fled. An alley, with a faint light that confused the eyes when one gazed in too long. He lifted his head.

"Come out."

Two words were more than sufficient. He issued his challenge to one of the strongest Igura participants without so much as a waver in his voice. Win or lose, he would not--could not--run from this battle.

Kau detected a strange scent and followed it, stopping once he reached your feet. Why did this human smell so different?

Akira looked down in surprise at the thing at his feet. What was it? It couldn’t be… He let out a yelp as he realized it was Abitro’s dog, the one who was usually with the executioners. It had always scared him, what Abitro had done to this boy who used to be human. But, at the same time, he was curious. His eyes flickered left and right, searching for the presence of the executioners before he bent down.

"I don’t know if you understand human language…"

His voice was a near whisper as he looked at the dog… or should he call it a boy?

"But I wonder if you’re in pain."

Kau had been trained not to think, not to process what went on around him but no amount of training could completely squash human curiosity. Because he live din such a strange, sightless world, his curiosity knew no bounds. Arbitro had done his best to turn him into a mindless pet but it hadn’t been completely successful. Seemed like he didn’t mind, it made Kau all the more interesting.

He wasn’t sure what to male of Akira’s comment so he just ignored it. Being called ‘strange’ was one of the nicest things someone other than master or the executioners had said to him. Shiki certainly had a wide variety of name for him.

Akira hesitated a second, thinking hard about something. He had one tag left to collect and then he would be heading to see Arbitro about challenging Shiki. But he sort of wanted to ask about the process...

He frowned indecisively as he gazed at Kau. Then he spoke the question forming in his mind.

"Your Master... he won't... do anything to me if I go to ask him something will he? I need to see him but..."

But Arbitro scared him and what Kau looked like right now only served to scare him more.

((Well I have to leave early YET AGAIN. At least I finished my lab last night so that's good... but with that out of the way I've gotta hit the library again cuz I've got a bio test tomorrow. See ya'll tomorrow when I'll finally be done from studying and assignments for this week.))
