This is a tournament designed to see who the ultimate plural fictional character is!

This tournament has both canonical systems and plural headcanons, so please don't go bugging me in my notes over why some of the competitors are not canonically plural — this tournament is just meant to be a bit of fun!

There will be 2 smaller brackets whose winners will be pitted against eachother in order to make the workload easier on the system running the tournament, and as of the time this post is being written, round 2 for the first bracket is about to be posted (more info can be found on this post).

Please note a few things: a) if you bring up syscourse on anon, your anon will be shamed (with the tag #hall of shame for those who don't want to see that), and you will get everyone to lose anon privileges. And if you are off anon, you will be blocked. B) If you are consistently annoying in my notes you will, once again, be blocked.

Hey, I'm sorry to announce that the tournament most likely will not be continuing for the sake of our mental health. There is the chance that we will in fact continue it, but right now it seems unlikely. Let's just say there are some issues with some.... triggering content being added to our posts as the explanation for why.

hello! i know church already lost but there are quite a few people in the notes saying that church isn’t canonically plural or that he’s bad rep and. you are all very wrong! church is explicitly stated in the show to have mpd. the writers spoke about doing research and writing church’s alters with the ideas of littles and persecutors specifically in mind. church’s alters are literally called fragments and are the most accurate, relatable depiction of fragments i have ever seen in a piece of media. i recognize that uendo is also great system rep and i love that for them! but you do not have to spread lies about your competitor to win a silly funny tumblr competition? i don’t have any problem with trash talk but at least make it like. accurate trash talk!

anyway, please take this essay where i go into a deeper dive about church’s plurality and explain why he’s such an important system to us and a lot of other systems out there. its almost 2000 words and doesn’t even touch upon every aspect! take a read:

oh, if you want to watch rvb because of plural rep, you should know that it doesn’t really come up for church until season 6 and they changed writers in season 11 so season 13 has some really ableist writing about a different plural character. it also falls into a lot of the pitfalls of early 2000s gamer humor which means a moderate use of the r word. it holds up surprisingly well for a show made by a bunch of cishet mostly white gamers in 2003 but it is still unfortunately a show made by a bunch of cishet mostly white gamers in 2003 😔. it’s a really good show but definitely highly flawed so ppl should be aware of that going in!

📐(Wow. Shit. We genuinely didn't think Uendo would win that one. And we were arguably the main entity pushing for him) Despite everything, fantastic effort from the Church fans. Continue to keep loving your character. The AI element is indeed plural and we see that. I might be watching rvb sometime now with friends because of this. We hope everyone has a good day.

ok now tbh. seeing the results of the poll i am indeed tempted to actually include leonard church in the tournament finals. to spite everyone in the notes complaining about us including, y'know, an explicitly canonical plural character in a. tournament about plurality?

once again getting so incredibly tired if i continue to get ppl complaining abt leonard church being in this bracket i am going to literally include him in the finals of the entire fucking tournament (bracket winner vs bracket winner) regardless of if he makes it to the finals or not

#i've never consumed rvb but he was literally like the second most submitted character if you're upset that he's here #you should have submitted other systems!

i honestly don't care if they're canon or not this poll is also meant to include headcanons because tbh! if we go canon only it causes many issues and makes our life harder. so stop arguing in the notes about whether or not the character is plural in canon or not we don't even know half of the characters in the bracket. And honestly if the interpretation is popular enough to get multiple submissions it means that it's making systems happy by interpreting them that way and so I'm willing to have them on here. ok hopefully i won't have to say this again
