I forget I have this blog
Waddup. I still want to run an ultra but last year I started out too hard and got burned out after a few months. Better luck next year!

Before exercise/after exercise. Bouldering then yoga
Nice
Sunday 9/10/17
I went to the climbing gym tonight! I thought I signed up for a yoga class at 6 but turns out that was for tomorrow. So I stayed and climbed an hour instead. Being this is the first time in 2-3 months, it was mostly testing the waters.
V0 No problem, but part of my back is tight
V1 ??? This looked so easy and yet I fell twice in the same spot. I’ll get it next time
5.11 (auto-belays) got like 6 whole feet off the ground and just gave up, laughing. My poor grip strength and balance!
5.9 I make it all but 2 holds to the top before slipping. I could have done it but I only had an hour to climb so I didn’t stop to rest very much.
5.8 YAYYY lmao kinda a sad grade for me but it felt nice being at the top
Slackline break. I’m surprised I can take 2 whole steps. A staff member and I chat, he gives me some advice: bends your knees more to balance. Put your weight in your back foot, place your front door on the rope, and “roll” your balance forward.
5.10 that’s apparently still there after so many weeks ago and used to be my pet project: I get more than halfway up including past the extra tricky part
5.8 on the exact same wall as ^. I climb with ease and just bend over backwards a bit to enjoy the view. Again, it feels nice just to be off the ground
I meet/talk to the gal next to me. We take some turns belaying. 2 staff members stand behind us, probably to make sure we both know what we’re doing and don’t die. I got certified my first day but am used to ATCs and they have mandatory grigris. So lowering her was…slow. And kinda jerky. I’m too tired to finish any climbs of my own but she kicks some ass. 😁
Then my hour was up and the gym played “Free Falling” on the radio as they closed.
Followed up with a very long Epsom salt bath & The Moth Radio Hour hoping that will help my shoulders relax. I have no idea if it actually stops you from being sore but sometimes salt smells better than fruity bubbles.
Nice

13 minute miles 😑
Day 3
9/6/17
Ran around my neighborhood, 2.44 miles. I thought it was longer than that. My mileage time sucks but that'll get better. New shoes feel springy. Afterwards I walked to the grocery store and cooked myself a healthy meal 😁
I'm actually in the middle of a run/walk right now and wondering if it's a good idea to sprint at the almost-end since I have my inhaler now. Joints feeling good. I'm a little out of breath but I'm walking this block.
Let's go for it!
Some yoga 🙆♀️
9/5/17
Didn't run today but I went to a yoga class for rock climbers. It was nice; lots of good leg stretches especially and the instructor played smooth jazz instead of sound bowls and chants. 😆 I think I might have pushed myself too hard cuz now my right lower back hurts. Instructor reccomended Epsom salt baths. Hopefully a good night's sleep will fix it.
Side note: is there a market for traditional sounding yoga/Hindu (Sanskrit?)/instrumental music but they're cursing at you? Or all the chants are the same but set to death metal?
Ow?
Day 2
9/4/17
<1 mile probably
I tried wearing my not-running-but-still-athletic shoes figuring I’m still working my mileage up and didn’t need my “real” ones. My knees and toes said NO. The is isn’t the type of pain I should push through, so I turned around before even getting to the park. -_-
I could go back out but I’m going to try some body-weight exercises instead.
reminder: you can start over at anytime. your day is not ruined. your world is not over. take a deep breath. start over.
That's kinda weird. I thought I posted more from the beginning of the year too but I guess I only bothered on facebook
New beginnings!
Day 1
9/3/17
2.11 miles
Shin splints suck. Back in July I got the go-ahead from my doctor to start back up (from scratch) my ultra marathon training. This time twice as slow.
The Art is sooo cute!
What’s this? Another bunny yoga sequence from tonedbellyplease? Why yes, yes it is! And this time it’s specifically focusing on opening your hips so you can one day do the splits!

NOTE: There was a typo on the original on the 8th pose saying lock knee into elbow. this has been corrected.
My mom was a gymnast and used to do this everywhere. This picture brings back some intense nostalgia
