Animal Crossing: Wild World (おいでよどうぶつの森) ✰ 2005
"It isn’t always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that’s okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind."
—Anthony Bourdain, No Reservations

up all night. got demons to fight.
and even if some nights have been like this for a while, and even if some nights will be like this going forward
things will keep working out.
It's a little strange looking at this site. Most of the people I followed no longer use it, probably haven't since the early-to-mid-2010s. Forgotten journals and scrapbooks left behind by old friends and strangers admired from afar. Feels like Scrooge looking at his younger self, watching the past replay in front of him.
It feels like I'm walking around my old church, no signs of disrepair, but empty, lights unlit. Besides myself, no human life, like our young ideas of fueled by the adults around us and terrible Evangelical made-for-TV movies. Knowing full well that I'm alone, but still seeing memories play out throughout the building. Not seeing ghosts, per se, but echos of life.
When I read these posts, the journals and reblogs of myself or my friends, those echos come. When I have a night like this one, I dig deeper onto the pages, the echos grow into a chorus. A cacophony. The past becomes a specter. And the past can't pierce or bludgeon, but it will bleed me all the same.
Coincidentally, I will be attending a wedding later in the year, and it will be at my old church. I will be traveling with my partner (my girlfriend, who I share the same first name with), but I will not have a plus one. When we visited last year for another wedding, we attended together, so I had a sort of security blanket in her company. But the idea of facing my past, alone, in all of its joys and sorrows, has terrified me, even if it is just for a few hours.
And instead of just being a tab on my browser I could open and close, that idea is turning into an inevitability.
me: progressives should be more accepting of religious people.
conservative christians: i agree. american christians are severely persecuted by liberals.
conservative christians: i can’t even leave my house without fearing constant humiliation and persecution 😔 2 timothy 3:12
me: man, it sure is difficult to be a religious minority in america. for example, musl-
conservative christians: i know what you mean. not being allowed to turn gay people away from my restaurant basically makes me saint peter
Awwww, @natalikoromotoart made these really cute SpongeBob animations for Nickelodeon’s commercial breaks!
hey hey hey you remember ratatouille? that movie was fuckin wild. in the first 20m a woman points a shotgun at the protagonist and tries to shoot him multiple times, brings down the roof of her own house, and subsequently gasses it. then the rat goes to paris and meets the bastard son of a dead chef and almost dies. again. several times. many times! almost gets locked in an oven. and then drowned. then some shit happens and he controls the bastard son by pulling on his hair. also the bastard chef gets drunk at least once. it’s explicit too like the scheming sous chef brings this 18 y/o or whatever into his office and gets him drunk because he wants the kid to admit that he’s a successful chef because of a tiny hair-pulling rat puppeteer who lives in his hat. and all throughout it the rat is grappling with the ethical conflict of whether stealing is right, and how to reconcile the wasted excesses of capitalism with his belief in private property and self-earned worth, especially when he comes from an impoverished background where stealing was necessary. and the underlying motif is how art isn’t an exclusive club, and how making art accessible to everyone is critical to the expansion and success of art itself, and the importance of honesty in relationships. also the human protagonist’s name is linguini
Mumen Rider is here!
Do you ever think about how Ned’s Declassified School Survival Guide and Scrubs have the same formula? Like they’re exactly the same show just for a different demographic?
ok but why is the cast of ned’s declassified in a ventilation shaft?

Trying to explain your fandom to other people.
One reason why I love anime. The emotion of the voice acting is too strong
did
did this anime waifu just tear down the edgy pretentious pseudointellectual facades we construct for ourselves as an obfuscating substitute for actual worth of character and accuse us of being so wrapped up in our own insular self-validating atrophied emotional comfort zones that we can only relate to others through pop culture allusions and mental dominance contests instead of a genuine emotional connection between two human beings
what the hell man
at first i read the above explanation thinking it was just a bunch of long thrown in words meant to make something simple complicated….but that is the perfect explanation for what I just watched
It’s been mentioned many times before, but the voice actress did this in a SINGLE take… makes it all the more impressive
if you’re a Youth and you’re reading this i just wanna discourage you from like….imitating the culture on this site too completely and building your whole worldview through the lens you’re finding here. just. be cautious be careful be critical
